Went to Canada and destroyed the league, then went to the NFL and gave teams more than enough headaches. You cannot kill that guy, the same way you cannot kill me.

Fuck Reggie Bush, and the sanctions, the bottom line is this…

We are going to line up and do our thing. You still have to stop us, and with Lane Kiffen getting EVERY single position coach Pete Carroll has in 2005, he doesn’t need to do much coaching really. I want to see Lane Kiffen shut his mouth, that is his weakness. If they need a fire lit under their asses, I am down the 110 freeway and can make it happen.

I want to see a statement made tonight, I want to see this Trojan team walking with a bit of a swagger. Bust these fuckers right in the mouth, crack heads, whoop ass, and take names.

Lane Kiffen will be unable to do the thing you want him to do. He constantly says stupid shit like its a Papal mandate.

USC IS OUT! FUCK COLLEGE FOOTBALL… SEE YOU IN TWO YEARS.

I agree JoeGood, I already know Kiffin will give me at least one good verbal blunder. Just hope he makes it a good one.

You’re an SEC fanboy, you’re contractually required to say that. I would disagree and say the most overrated teams in the nation would be the bottom of the pile SEC teams like South Carolina and Kentucky. They get a pass in the media because they play in the SEC but they wouldn’t be winning teams in the ACC either. South Carolina got slaughtered by UConn for God’s sake.
Eh. Has South Carolina even been ranked higher than like #20 in the last 3-4 years? I’m talking about that few year stretch when Clemson was ranked fairly well every year… #7 or something similar coming in to the season. '06 maybe? Either way, you guys had better hope Dabo is the answer because you’re stuck with him for another 6 years - theoretically, haha.
SCU managed a #21 ranking last year before losing to Tennessee. They got up to #23 in 2008 and #8 in 2007 before losing to VANDERBILT in their own stadium.

THAT’S WHAT I"M TALKING ABOUT, MAX!!!

I agree 100%. No big OOC games this season, no bowl game to look forward to, and plenty of payback to be dealt to the Pac-10 teams. People are really underestimating the coaching staff and all the weapons we have on offense. The defense will be a liability. Maybe not quite as porous as last year, but still plenty loose. The offense will be good. I am thinking it will be more like 2004/2005 when we had to win some shootouts.

Either way, USC will win a lot of games this year.

If the USC defense doesn’t improved, it will be a long season for them, 588 total yards by Hawaii last night. Not a great start for them.

UNC is going to be down 16 players for that LSU game btw(they are pretty much forced to suspend all of them, because if they let them play and then the NCAA suspends them later after investigation they’ll forfeit the win regardless). I heard about this on the radio this morning. For UNC’s sake, I hope they have some depth on defense.

I agree, the defense looks horrible, more holes in that secondary than Swiss cheese. The D-line looked pretty good. The offense looked awesome, they scored at will. The running game was dominant, the O-Line pwned whoever lined up against them, while Matt Barkley threw very well with consistency.

How in the name of FUCK can Lane Kiffen have a training camp with no tackling practice ? The defense had no physicality to them, they didn’t hit anyone (except when they blew up the starting QB in the 3rd quarter), the tackling was horrible. He better start banging heads in practice, because this could be a very good team if that defense picks up.

Max do you think Barkley will stay all 4 years and try to get a BCS title or heisman? With where USC is screwed the next two years if he played all 4 years his senior year he has a chance to do something. Or do you think he will bow to the pressure of the NFL and come out his Junior year?

^^the no contact spring ball is the reason why I’m not too worried about how the D played. They haven’t been hitting because of the lack of depth so after a game or two the D willget it together. Monte will have those guys playing consistently soon.

The offense looked nasty. Barkley was very accurate and RoJo looks like he’s finally living up to his potential. Marc Tyler was a beast. I remember seeing him in highschool and he was tearing it up. People forget he was the number 1 recruit before he got hurt his senior year. I really liked the play calling. Smashmouth ball and mixing it up. Not the vanilla play calling we’ve had in the past couple years.

Fight On Trojans!!

I think he’ll stay. He seems like a really down to earth kid and I think he’ll do it like Palmer and Lienart… I think he’ll stay for his senior year.

Barkley for Heismen??? Too early?

I also think Barkley will stay, it will also depend on what happens with this season and next season. There is really no telling how these guys will react when you wave millions of dollars in their faces. What I can only hope, is that these guys stay patient, they have millions waiting for them in the NFL, and to not pull another Reggie Bush. You are talking about giving a 21 yr old kid 30-40 million bucks, if you are wise and mature you can invest that into much more while still enjoying a comfy life.

Many people think USC are screwed, quite the contrary. If they are able to play well this season, what else would it take to kill that team? What other bullshit will critics try to use to shoot down the hype? I mean, you took 15 scholarships away, no bowl games no matter what, yet should they play very well and finish with a very high ranking, I think it only reinforces how strong the program really is. We have a new Athletic Coordinator with Pat Haden (thank God, I fucking hated Mike Garrett.) That POS disrespected me at a banquet dinner for the Daily News All Star Game in 1993, fucker called me by a different name yet he recruited me HIMSELF in high school. The program got better the moment they fired him.

I was talking with some of my old teammates from USC, mainly Johnny Morton, Willie McGinest, and some other big name guys. If the defense gets more physical and improves their tackling, this team could be very good. The offense looked like my ideal wet dream when it comes to moving the football. I saw linemen down field to block “on the next level.” This means, moving up field to where you are now blocking corners and safeties, and yes this is a lineman’s wet dream. I want my 300 lb guard blocking a 190 lb defensive back, I will take that match up every single time. The play calling was also stellar offensively, they stuck with the run while it kept working, knowing they would have to stack 8 guys in the box to stop it, which would only open up that awesome passing game.

Oh, so Hawaii wants to play man coverage with Barkley pulling the trigger and the O-line giving him 5 seconds to throw with no one in his face?..Sure bring it on. Towards the end of the game, I actually thought the offense was scoring too quickly, I never thought that would be a bad thing.

My worry is the D, I saw guys so open, and just no technique when it came to tackling. You cannot wrap guys around their shoulders or hips in this league, they are just too big and strong. Next up is Virginia at home.

You know what’s scary to think about? Barkley threw 5 TD passes last night (tying the school record), and was yanked out for a good portion of the 4th quarter. If the D would have stopped Hawaii’s offense just one or two more times, he could have easily have scored more. I know it was only Hawaii, but they looked like a well oiled V-12 on steroids last night. The offense looked polished, they looked like they were playing in game 9 or 10, where everything was clicking.

If Barkley has more games like last night, I would not be surprised if they start a campaign for his Heisman run.

I’m going to have to disagree with you. Just look to some other programs over the years that had to deal with scholarship reductions (it is 30 total, correct?)

Alabama earlier this decade, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State in the late 1980s, to name a few, all had scholarship reductions (among other sanctions) and it took them years to recover. It simply kills the depth that the team has. Sure, you might still recruit well, but you won’t have the sheer numbers of top level talent that USC normally would.

I think USC will have a good season, but the next several years are going to be rough. If I’m an SC fan, I’m just hoping that Kiffin’s silly ass minds his “P’s” and “Q’s” to keep the program out of further trouble.

edited - typo

If USC can show that they can still succeed despite the sanctions (by the way of winning games), I dont think it will scare off recruits or harm the program in general. This is where leadership comes into play. Barkley needs to rally the troops, and someone in the defense also needs to step up and yell.

Noel Devine. That’s fun to say.

Honestly, I think the most hilarious thing would be if USC went undefeated. They can’t make a bowl and thus have no shot at the national title, that would be the ultimate torture.

GO STANFORD.

Well… exciting day for me. Going to see those Gators take on Miami of Ohio. I’m not as confident about it as I should be, lol. Probably just opening day nerves.

Jesus Christ, Steve Addazio should be slapped. A pitch on 4th and 1 from the goal line set? Give me a break. If they were whoring out John Brantley’s arm they’d be up by 10 points right now.

That is what I am hoping for, USC to go undefeated and miss the bowl game, thus screwing up the argument over who is the real national champion.

Out of all the teams I want revenge on, YOU (Stanford) is the team I am most hungry for. Why? Jim Harbaugh. He lacks a humble side, I hate that. Look at all the great coaches (Bowden, Paterno, Tressel, etc) and they all know how to handle a victory. This guy needs the whole humble pie to himself.

I can’t wait to see Boise State get whooped by VA Tech. I want them to get a good dose of true D1 football.
