I thought OKC would win. I thought 9 games of rust would matter and Dallas would either come out flat or falter late. I did not expect Dirk to average 12 points per field goal attempt (approximate).
Will not get caught away from my tv tonight. Think the Heat make it closer this time but the Bulls take game 2 at home.

Mavs ball movement is fantastic.
Whiteflash,
Your analysis is usually good but I also think you read way too much into things at times. In particular, I’m talking about your comment about the 9 day rest for the Mavs. It’s just not an issue, man.
What I mean is, you bring up many points that could be factors but the reality is–my opinion–that only 1 or 2 of them will be factors, they usually don’t ALL contribute to an aggregate effect.
I said “might”, and that it would be beneficial in the long run. It clearly worked in their favor tonight though. Still, if you’re OKC you gotta be ok with things. Nowitzki had the best game of his career, Barea and Terry combined for 45, Westbrook played like shit and it was still a close game. Said earlier that I think Dallas takes this series, but I’m still not fully sure. I am sure that these WCF’s will be balls to the wall and we’ll all have a lot to talk about for the next few weeks.
Also, did y’all hear that the Grizz’ owner said he doesn’t plan on trading Rudy Gay, and that if Gay had been playing they woulda beat OKC? I personally think it’s a smoke screen and he’s gone. Why would he keep him around?
Yeah hes gotta be lying. Theyre better without him and he could potentially attract a decent player in a trade.
BTW this got a lot of replay in Canada at least, I thought it was funny:
HAHAHAH, that vid is awesome. He sounds like the bufoon from the old Adam Sandler cd’s.
Nowitzki’s performance last night got me thinking: What is the best playoff performance y’all have ever seen? It can be one game, a whole series or even an entire playoff run? For me, it has to be Olajuwon’s downright ridiculous '95 playoffs culminating in the championship, particularly the WCF’s against David Robinson and the Spurs. I actually still have all 6 games on VHS. It is [to me] the single greatest performance in NBA history. If you go back and llok at his numbers, and who it was against, with the stakes on the line, it is insane. Who y’all got?
Ha! I was going to post the exact same thing re: Rudy’s desire to come off the bench. I don’t see him liking that.

Well…
I remember hearing MJ say the same thing regarding G Wallace and the Bobcats.
I think we all thought Perkins was a sure bet to stay in Boston also.
What do the Grizzlies need to go further next year?
My money is Rudy gets traded.
They need scoring if anything, and that’s what Rudy Gay is, but they should have him come off the bench a la Jason Terry. This playoffs showed that ZBo is clearly the better first option, and to start Rudy Gay would mean taking minutes away from Tony Allen and making them significantly worse on defense.
Let Tony Allen start so he can guard the all-star backcourts, and when those players go to the bench put Gay in to keep the scoring up.
I get the impression that Rudy Gay isn’t the type of guy to accept that kind of role though, so he may have to go.
A foul was called and nothing happened, but Rose just put one of the nastiest hesiatation moves I’ve ever seen on Mike Bibby, literally leaving him swiping at air. Chicago is finally looking like the team that wrecked the regular season, and that’s a scary thought considering they’ve made it to the ECF’s while looking about 80%.

You have that on VHS? That’s sick… definitely the biggest FU performance of all time right after Robinson won DPOY.
Jordan’s flu game was pretty awesome. As was LBJ’s 25 straight points vs. DET.

Yessir. I have the 4 games against Orlando in '95 on tape too. I have a shit ton of old games on tape, but they’re back in Texas and I don’t own a VCR.
If you remember, Robinson also won MVP and the Spurs had the best record in the league. Olajuwon absolutely murdered him, and after one game [maybe the close out game] Robinson said “I don’t know how I can say this with a straight face, but I actually thought I played pretty good D on him”. Olajuwon then went on to murder Shaq in the Finals. Those mid-90’s Rockets teams were awesome to watch.

You’re right, I meant MVP. I was still young and I blame my shitty memory.
^^^ Haha, no worries man. I need to look into getting those converted to DVD format, 'cause some of those old games are fucking awesome. I can talk mid-90’s ball for hours, and there’s a few relatively obscure games that stick out for some reason or another.

When I was a kid I had a 2,000 card bball card collection by the time I moved out to PA at age 9 (1991). I sold 1,000 of them for like 10 bucks at a garage sale. I think I still have my 30-40 MJ cards framed at my dad’s house.
