Your analysis is usually good but I also think you read way too much into things at times. In particular, I’m talking about your comment about the 9 day rest for the Mavs. It’s just not an issue, man.
What I mean is, you bring up many points that could be factors but the reality is–my opinion–that only 1 or 2 of them will be factors, they usually don’t ALL contribute to an aggregate effect.

Damn… If Dirk has another half like that this game will be over quick.
8-9fg with 21 pts!
Finally tuning in to Game 1 and dude is currently 10-11 FGs and 18-18 FTs. Even other pros can’t do that in practice or even just shooting around solo. WTF

Agreed. Towards the end of that LAL series, it was obvious that DAL was the better team and that they play the right way. Easy to root for them to win the whole thing. IMO.
^^ I think both OKC and CHI will both win at least one championship.
But with the rich NBA tradition of taking some lumps and learning some playoff lessons before finally breaking through, I do expect DAL and their experience to win out over both of those squads. This year anyway…
Omg Dirk, we are not worthy…one of the best playoff performances of all time
And before you guys start bitching about the refs and 24 fts, Durant had 19 and Westbrook had 18. Durant got 2 fts in the first half on a Terry foul where Terry literally did not even touch him.
Next game Thunder will try to double Dirk and will get murdered by the 3.
Nearly had a heart attack there. I was getting flashbacks from those NOH and DEN games where Mavs let them get back from a huge deficit after some strong momentum.
G2 will be very interesting. DID NOT expect such a high scoring game.

As they say becoming a champion is a lot like becoming a bride. You have to get fucked a few times before you can become one.

I said “might”, and that it would be beneficial in the long run. It clearly worked in their favor tonight though. Still, if you’re OKC you gotta be ok with things. Nowitzki had the best game of his career, Barea and Terry combined for 45, Westbrook played like shit and it was still a close game. Said earlier that I think Dallas takes this series, but I’m still not fully sure. I am sure that these WCF’s will be balls to the wall and we’ll all have a lot to talk about for the next few weeks.
Also, did y’all hear that the Grizz’ owner said he doesn’t plan on trading Rudy Gay, and that if Gay had been playing they woulda beat OKC? I personally think it’s a smoke screen and he’s gone. Why would he keep him around?

The trick is to be a fan of a team that never gets better and rarely makes the playoffs.

THIS, you get used to picking teams to root for every year, instead of being forced to go with your one team that is probably out first round even if they get in.

Yeah hes gotta be lying. Theyre better without him and he could potentially attract a decent player in a trade.
BTW this got a lot of replay in Canada at least, I thought it was funny:
I remember hearing MJ say the same thing regarding G Wallace and the Bobcats.
I think we all thought Perkins was a sure bet to stay in Boston also.
What do the Grizzlies need to go further next year?
My money is Rudy gets traded.
They need scoring if anything, and that’s what Rudy Gay is, but they should have him come off the bench a la Jason Terry. This playoffs showed that ZBo is clearly the better first option, and to start Rudy Gay would mean taking minutes away from Tony Allen and making them significantly worse on defense.
Let Tony Allen start so he can guard the all-star backcourts, and when those players go to the bench put Gay in to keep the scoring up.
I get the impression that Rudy Gay isn’t the type of guy to accept that kind of role though, so he may have to go.

Because as the series went on, particularly in the last game, they REALLY could have used a wing scorer who can create his own shot.
What people overlook is that Tony Allen didn’t get playing time for a while for no reason. They were VERY good in the brief amount of time Allen and Gay both played (before Gay got hurt). I think he helps them.
