2010-2011 NBA Season 3.0

How great would it be if ATL upset the Bulls?

^^^ They looked great, and it would be fucking awesome if they took it to the Bulls. This has been as unpredictable a playoffs as I can remember.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA RANDMAN RANDMAN RANDMAN RANDMAN you lose sucker man. My heat are still playing strong.

I understand you all hate the Mavs, but let us be reality here.

Dirk is one of the best post defenders in the league at his position.

Defensive PPP numbers from mysynergysports.com

Name - PPP (NBA rank)

Dirk Nowitzki - 0.82 (70)
Zach Randolph - 0.85 (117)
Amar’e Stoudemire - 0.96 (364)
Chris Bosh - 0.83 (83)
Kevin Love - 0.89 (214)
Pau Gasol - 0.88 (188)
Blake Griffin - 0.88 (188)
Lamarcus Aldridge - 0.86 (139)
Kevin Garnett - 0.82 (70)
Carlos Boozer - 0.88 (188)

Defensive APM numbers

Dirk Nowitzki +2.6 (9)
Zach Randolph +0.5 (132)
Amar’e Stoudemire -2.4 (447)
Chris Bosh +2.2 (16)
Kevin Love -0.5 (341)
Pau Gasol +1.6 (46)
Blake Griffin +0.1 (206)
Lamarcus Aldridge +2.0 (30)
Kevin Garnett +3.9 (1)
Carlos Boozer -0.7 (357)

Further, if it weren’t for Dwight Howard, Tyson Chandler would likely be NBA Defensive Player of the Year. What are Randolph/Gasol but a poor man’s Bynum/Gasol? The Laker’s front court was supposed to dominate the Mavs and we all saw how that turned out. And if we play OKC, Marion has held Durant to 30% shooting this season. We are 2-1 against OKC, and the 1 OKC win was when Dirk was out injured.

And toughest shot maker in the NBA? Who else besides Dirk makes 18 foot spinning fade away jumpers off 1 foot look routine? Dirk motha fuckin Nowitzki.

Mavs were on pace for the best record in the NBA this season. We lost our 2nd best player, Caron Butler, early on and lost Dirk for a 9 game stretch. We still ended up tied with LA for the 2nd best record in the West. If it weren’t for Brandon Roy going nuts in game 4, the Portland series would have been over in 5 games. We swept the shit out of the Lakers.

LET US BE REALITY AND GIVE THE MAVS SOME RESPECT

Good breakdown. Saved me a lot of stat searching for my DAL v OKC series bets if it comes to that. I’m still not convinced with Gasol and Randolph though. I have to look a lot deeper into that one.

Wow great. Finally.

I don’t think anyone “hates” the Mavs, they are good and Dirk is awesome. But it’s obvious to me you haven’t watched much Memphis if you think Z-Bo and Marc Gasol are a “poor man’s Bynum/Gasol”.

Damn, these playoffs have been crazy. I don’t have a good feeling about tonight’s game for Boston but I hope they pull out another win to make this series at least go to 6 games.

What a bitch move by Bynum, always hated that guy. Mostly because he was a Laker but now everybody can see what a little bitch he is. It would be really unfortunate if someone took a cheap shot at one of his knees next season haha.

Dude, Derrick Rose has passed Kobe Bryant as the “toughest shot maker” in the NBA. That kid hits 17’ runners off the glass from odd angles consistently. I’ve never seen anyone with an arsenal of runners and floaters like that. With pick-and-rolls and collapsing D’s that might be the most important shot for an attacking PG and that kid has mastered it. [/quote]

I didn’t bother watching the Laker game because they were getting blown out at half time. But when I saw the replays of what Bynum did, it just really pissed me off. I thought calling out his teammates in that post interview was pretty dumb and bad for the team, but that cheap shot really takes the cake. What a fuckin prick. It appears Artest’s “knuckleheaded-ness” rubbed off on the rest of the team.

His runners are sick nasty but I’m not sure I could put him above Dirk for making tough shots.

^ Both of them basically take tough shots on a regular basis

I wouldn’t put Dirk above Kobe, just because Bryant can get and hit ANY shot inside halfcourt, and Nowitki’s crazy shots are all pretty much the same high arching fade off the back foot. I’d give the edge to Rose now [maybe, still have to think about it] just 'cause almost every runner or layup he takes is being heavily contested and in traffic, and half the time it looks like he’s just launching himself without a clue of what he’s gonna do. It’s total reaction.

Delonte West: STILL screwing members of the James family.

oh shit never mind lebron just used the rape-axe. aaawwww damnn!

This James-Pierce rivalry of sorts has made for some of the most entertaining games of the last few years… this has been a solid game to watch.

3-1 Bitches

Lebron clutch down the stretch.

Exactly. And not just that but he’s also clutch, probably the most clutch player in the NBA today. This past Dallas Lakers series just solidified Dirk eliteness and how he outplayed the entire Laker roster, especially Kobe (who btw, should be getting more criticism for the Lakers’ decomposition).

There’s even a thread in GAL about how Dirk is underrated. Apparently the guy felt that it was such an important thing that he decided not to post it here but create his own thread about it.

There’s also no reason Dirk shouldn’t be marketable, especially internationally. He’s better spoken and more intelligent than 99% of all players in the NBA. His biggest impediment is his lack of championships. That and the fact he’s a white player in the NBA.
