I don’t think it’s over confidence at all. Gasol has looked “off” for a good portion of the season, Bynum’s ego is getting too big for his britches [without the requisite game to justify it], and Bryant, while looking as athletic as he has in a few years has looked more pedestrian than he has in a LONG time [by that I mean he’s missed shots all season that he normally wouldn’t]. The one thing I will say is that maybe an early exit is a good thing as it allows for much more rest and also allows them to reevaluate. I do agree that Artest needs the boot. I disagreed with his signing in the first place. Guess we’re gonna see a new champ this year. What’re the odds that there’s a Mavs/Heat rematch?
They said LA in the last 4 years has played 79 playoff games. That’s pretty much a whole season. I think father time has caught up with Bryant. It sometimes looks like he gets old during a game, well, 15 years in the league will do that to you.

Does Dallas have homecourt against OKC/Memphis? If so, and if Miami can get past Chi/Bos, I think they can meet in the Finals.

Since it looks like Howard is not going to resign with Orlando, especially if Van Gundy stays, how about Bynum, Odom, and 2 1st round picks for him? If I’m Orlando, I’m not taking Gasol and Odom cuz of their age.

The Odom shoulder check was overblown, but what Bynum just did is disgraceful. I predict a pretty large roster overhaul this off-season. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised to see both Gasol and Bynum gone next season.
It’s also about the intent to injure that bothers me.
Bynum needs a heavy suspension, like 10+ games. That’s the third time he’s done the exact same thing, the first of which resulted in Gerald Wallace in the hospital with a collapsed lung.

Game over, down by 30+, trying to injure the smallest player on the court. I hope he shatters his knee next season.

I’ve always hated the Lakers, but that just takes the cake. What a bunch of whiny bitches.

Now that the Lackers have been eliminated time to focus on game 4 CHI-ATL.

what are the chances the Hawks actually win another game?

I didn’t know he collapsed Wallaces lung. That’s ridiculous. You’re right, he needs a heavy suspension and even heavier fine. That’s way too big of a dude to be chucking dudes like that. Also, speaking of Wallace, the Portland faithful nicknamed him “The Answer”, as in the answer to their playoff problems. Haven’t heard what they call him now.

LMAO

Ah the good old days

So I rewatched the play where Bynum collapsed Gerald Wallace’s lung and it was vicious.

But I laughed at one of the popular comments on the page: why dont all players have paul pierces ability to heal from injuries???

I see what you’re saying about Bryant. This season he’d get hot spurts but then hit a wall and miss shots he’d normally drain. That’s 4 years of straight basketball catching up to him. But, he’s only 32 [I think], and if he actually rests some this off-season instead of going apeshit like ususal I’m confident he can come back strong. Also, if I’m trying to win I don’t trade for Dwight Howard. His team was down 3 games and he’s cracking jokes with reporters. It’s pretty apperant to me that he has no idea how to win, and doesn’t seem to care to learn. He’s of the new age of “superstar” that expects success without putting in the necessary work. If he comes to LA he’ll get distracted by all the other shit and on top of that I don’t think he can handle the pressure that comes with a large market and premiere organization. I just don’t like him as a winner.

I believe OKC would have homecourt as they’re the 3 seed, but DAL would have homecourt vs. Memphis.

Honestly, I might put equal odds on any of the three winning, total crapshoot. Maybe OKC by a hair.

I think DAL would be a bad matchup for Memphis. Dirk would obliterate Randolph from the elbow. Then again Conley would destroy Kidd off the dribble, Barea/Terry could be shut down by Allen/Battier… ok it would be a good series.

On the flip side, Nowitzki has to contend with a really physical Randolph on the block, and no matter what anyone says Nowitzki’s kinda soft and doesn’t like contact. With that, I think OKC figures it out and ends up beating the Grizz… I think? Either way, the WCF is gonna be badass, and as much as I’m bummed that the Lakers just rolled over after game 1 it’s good to get some new blood in there.

I hope thread traffic doesn’t die out with the Lakers gone.

^I reserved judgement on the Randolph-Nowitzki matchup when Memphis is on O, because I’m just not sure how that is going to play out at all. Dirk is pretty tall he might be able to play some matador defense and block Randolph over the top. Then again, Ibaka can’t seem to do that and he’s a better defender than Dirk. Maybe you put Chandler on Randolph and Dirk on Gasol?

I forgot they don’t reseed. Dallas has the better record then OKC, but OKC won the Northwest Division.

Chandler’s length could pose problems, but Randolph has made a career of scoring over much taller, longer and more athletic defenders. Dude just gets buckets. Also, I don’t like Nowitzki on Gasol at all for Dallas. Actually, I don’t like him as a defender on anyone. If Gasol puts him on his hip he can back him down, and he’s pretty good over either shoulder, and if you lay off he sticks that flat-footed set shot out to 18’. I still think Westbrook’s gonna pull his head out of his ass and stop going 1-on-3 when there’s open men and OKC wins, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the Grizz pull this out at all. Either way the WCF will be a fun series.

Agree, but you gotta put Dirk on someone. He might get killed less by Gasol than Randolph. Chandler is pretty similar to Ibaka, I could see him having similar results.

Derrick Rose, you are my sunshine.

Being a big Wade fan, they better win in Boston, especially since Boston didn’t get those extra days off like they did after game 2. Because of this, I don’t expect Garnett to duplicate his performance like he had against Rupaul yesterday.

Mavs are 1-3 against the grizzlies and are 2-1 against OKC in the regular season. I think only one game was without Nowitzki where they get beaten hard by MEM. Don’t know who I’d rather see them play, I guess OKC because Memphis weren’t actually playing as good as they are now.

Despite this, I’m finding it hard not to pick a MEM v DAL west finals. Which either way, wouldn’t be a bad series at all!

Yeah, Chandler is essentially a taller, less athletic Ibaka at this point. Dude, Derrick Rose has passed Kobe Bryant as the “toughest shot maker” in the NBA. That kid hits 17’ runners off the glass from odd angles consistently. I’ve never seen anyone with an arsenal of runners and floaters like that. With pick-and-rolls and collapsing D’s that might be the most important shot for an attacking PG and that kid has mastered it.

It would be nice if he’d make a few tough ones right now. Down 6 with 2:30 to go.

Only saw the 2nd half, but WOW @ ATL.

I’ve never seen them play like that. Normally it’s 0 ball movement and all Iso’s with very little effort.

They brought the full package tonight.
