2010-2011 NBA Season 2.0

And then there’s the Lakers-Spurs game. This is a painful regular season so far if you’re a Lakers fan. Props to the Spurs for playing so well. The only thing I would be concerned about if I’m a Spurs fan is that the Lakers are STILL not playing good consistent offense and defense and they almost won that game.

This Spurs team may have a similar fate to my beloved Patriots this season. Absolutely wipe it up in the regular season and then unceremoniously get booted in the playoffs sooner than expected. Honestly the only team in the west that could do that to the Spurs is the Lakers IF they step up they’re game come playoff time.

randman, the only football game I watch is the Superbowl. Who should I bet on?

Man what a close game there, you’d never have figured in the 3rd. Anderson had a chance but just hit the back of the iron. They should have given it to Redick but hey semantics. Heat I think “deserved” to win this game based on their play, or should I say LeBron’s play the entire game. Mad props to James, highest scoring game this season.[/quote]

If LeBron could ever consistently hit his jump shot like that it would just be frightening.

What do you guys think about MVP right now? Obviously a lot of games left.

Lebron, Kobe, Durant, Rose, and Howard I feel are in the running.

That’s a tough one man. Steelers definitely have the experience but I’m going with a) who I want to win and b) momentum, the hottest team in the league.

Green Bay Packers baby!

I hate to say it but Lebron is probably the most deserving right now with Durant and Rose on his tail. Even though I’m a Kobe die-hard he’s not having an MVP year; his 4th quarter stats in particular haven’t been the greatest. His MVP years are done. Not to say he still isn’t an awesome player just not going to be taking down MVP trophies anymore.

The line is really fair right now…Packers favored by 2.5 and that’s exactly what it should be. If you want the best chance of winning money, you should bet the Under (over/under currently at 44.5/45, it’s too high). If you just want to bet to have a rooting interest… find a site/bookie that has the Steelers at +3, and bet them w/ that line.

LeBron maybe SHOULD win it, but he won’t because Wade is playing so well he’ll take some votes.

IMO it’s Rose/Durant tied for first, with Howard right behind.

Except the Spurs will have homecourt advantage throughout the playoffs, do NOT underestimate that.

What I’d be worried about as a Spurs fan is the Hornets…they have have the Spurs number this season for god knows what reason.

Ya I think Lebron is prolly most deserving at this point. Dude can really fill up a stat sheet. And with Cleveland being such a dumpster fire its hard not to think his absence is huge reason why. (I know they have had a lot of injuries and such)

Rose is next in line if he can end the season strong. I agree with you about Kobe he is past his mvp years are behind him still in the conversation though. Durant started slow and is playing pretty ridiculous as of late but its not his year with westbrook playing almost as well.

Spurs and Lakers will meet in the western conference finals you can count on that. New orleans, Dallas, and Ok City all have nice teams but won’t be able to be the lake show or spurs in a series barring a miracle.

Agreed on Rose, Durant, Dwight Howard and LBJ being deserving.

It’s been a few years since there were more than 2 standout contenders for MVP like this year. The past few years the choices were obvious.

True.

Also, I don’t know if the stats support this, but at least from what I notice this season The Heat are a better team when Wade is injured than when LBJ is injured. And Wade has been injured a lot, so for a lot of games LBJ hasn’t gotten to play alongside Wade. So he could really win it IMO.

Who do you think has next?

Lets say Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, and Shaquille O’Neal were the best/most successful players of the last decade. I think it’d be hard for anyone dispute that. If we had to pick one guy from those three, take Kobe, but Duncan comes CLOSE.

Which player from the new generation of superstars will get there?

I really like Derrick Rose. Chicago was getting overshadowed by Orlando and Miami in the east, but as it’s become obvious this season, if they keep their core together they are going to be perennial contenders in the NBA. And it looks like the next few years will be great era for PGs as well.

Durant is also a candidate, and of course so is LeBron especially if the Heat really do win multiples. Dwight Howard as well. Honestly I think LeBron can only get that recognition if the Heat establish a dynasty OR the other players I mentioned never win anything. I think either Rose or Durant will be the best of this current generation.

^ I can’t agree with you on Dwight Howard. He is not able to carry his team to a championship. He just doesn’t have that special something. I think Rose does, I think Durant does, and I hate to say it but I think Lebron may have it too especially with the team he’s on now. This is a strange year for me. I guess I’m finally starting to cede the torch to the new generation from (Kobe, Shaq, Duncan) to (Rose, Durant and “gulp” Lebron). Although I still hate Lebron with a passion personality-wise.

All that beings said, I think the Lakers can still win it this year. It’s just Kobe is not the best player in the league anymore but his supporting cast is damn good when they decide to play well. Yep, I said it.

THE APOCALYPSE!!! HAHA he said it, he said it!!! LBJ baby

Looks like all 3 Heatles got into the Allstar game.

I see where you’re coming from with regards to Dwight. Despite his overall beastliness he never really takes advantage of it when facing physical teams like the Celtic. And of course he is EXTREMELY limited offensively, no matter what some analysts having been saying about his improvement this year.

I put him in more because I think he is easily the best defensive player in the league and will be for years. Head and shoulders above whoever’s #2.

But yeah, I guess it LBJ, KD, or Rose. At least the way things look this year.

@Raj: I dunno man, Wade isn’t as good as LeBron IMO. Wade’s a great scorer but LeBron control’s the offense when he on the court, and this time it’s not because the coach set the offense to revolve around him.

I know people [including myself] have made the comparison that LeBron will be A-Rod to Wade’s Jeter, but even if that were true I think A-Rod is higher on the ‘greatest players ever list’ than Jeter is by far. Then again I don’t know much baseball.

[Also: bow down to my superior post count]
