The other thing I forgot to mention about the Heat: I don’t believe this 0-9 vs. the top teams means diddly squat. The Wade-Heat team that won the title was awful against the best teams too. It’s been proven many times over that records in close (sub-5 point differential) games is extremely random, is not predictive, and has no bearing on the playoffs.

This could not be more untrue. There are very few exceptions where teams don’t do great against other contenders in the regular season but go on to win it all (In the NBA). Almost overwhelmingly the NBA champions typically win at least 60 and have a mid to high 60 wins record and have a good record of winning against other contenders in the regular season. I just checked the last 5 NBA champions and they all had winning records against contenders in the regular season. The Spurs had 58 wins in 2007 so they were below the 60 mark.

You really think that’s the ONLY reason people hate on Lebron? There are many, many reasons I dislike him as do others. That’s just one of them.

Since there are SO many reasons, please list at least ONE that has to do with his value as an athlete (read: on the court). Go for it.
I better not read some shit about his personality.
By the way I forgot to add this - the Celts getting Troy Murphy was a HUGE loss for the Heat. He was the absolute perfect fit for them…an accomplished rebounder who could stretch the defense with his shooting. I honestly would take the Heat far more seriously as a title contender if they had landed him. He’s not the greatest thing since sliced bread, he just happens to fill what they need pretty perfectly.

If anyone believes a team of veteran NBA players was crying over a loss in the beginning of March, I have a nice used car I’d like to sell you.
If they actually WERE crying about a random game on March 5th that would say a lot about them…most of it bad.
This may sound like I’m typing while wearing a foil hat, but shit like that makes suspicious about predetermined outcomes in the league. Like the Heat are gonna go on a monster run, win it all and Jmaes will say through champagne soake tears “I remember when we were lost in March and crying 'cause we couldn’t figure it out. We’ve come so far as a team and I’m so proud of my guys”. Obviously that’s a bit hyperbolic but it really is strange that there’s talk of crying after a 4 game losing streak in March. Something’s not right with that.
Do you guys really think the Heat would play THAT much better if Riley was coaching?
No fucking way. Todays players - Especially “superstars” like James and Wade - are way too spoiled to play for Riley. His practices alone would kill James and Bosh. Wade’s already done it [when Riley stole a shot at a title from Van Gundy] and has gone on record as saying he wants no part of it. The coaching is not the problem.

Well a shitload does have to do with his personality with me personally. That being said, I have a lot of criticisms of him as an athlete.
What he’s awesome at: 1) The most physical athlete the NBA has ever seen 2) his ability to drive down the lane like a locomotive train is insane 3) his ability to go 1 on 5 is also insane because he’s so big and strong 4) has very good passing skills for someone of his size and strength
What he has missing: 1) no post up game 2) no mid range game 3) a mediocre 3 pt shot 4) has not displayed leadership skills to lead a team to a championship (this remains to be seen whether he can develop this) 5) is not a last second shot guy and should not be taking the last second shots win ball games.
Do you guys really think the Heat would play THAT much better if Riley was coaching?
No. People forget the two shit seasons Riley coached after the Heat won the championship. One was a 15 win season. This is not a diss on Riley. This is more of a “there’s no way in hell Riley wants to go back and coach the Heat again so this is a moot point”. And I don’t think the problem is Spoelstra. I think the players are responding to him. It’s that they’re just not executing on the floor and don’t have all of the holes filled that they need to be a serious contender.

I’ve never been one for conspiracy theories, but that just sounds so… Hollywood(obviously this all goes down in game 7 against the Lakers @ Staples center right?). If ever there were an out there ‘shit is rigged’ theory that sounded fairly plausible that would be it, cause you seriously couldn’t write a script better than that to wrap up everything starting from THE DECISION til now.

My only problem with that is I don’t see how that scenario benefits the league. People aren’t rooting for the Heat to win. They don’t have a big fan base. People would hate to see them win in fact.
I don’t think after Donaghy anyone can say there’s ZERO chance of conspiracy. Only people who actually believe that a compulsive gambler who bet on games he reffed actually didn’t fix games he puts thousands of dollars on. People who believe that a COMPULSIVE GAMBLER wasn’t trying to do everything he could to win money in games he worked should all be rounded up in one room and summarily executed.
I can’t believe you guys are writing this off to a conspiracy theory. Why would Spoelstra lie about something like this? He said it plain and simple, his guys were crying in the locker room. That’s how soft and pathetic this group is. For those that hate the Heat, this is better than Christmas. I could never imagine in a million years that the self-proclaimed Heatles would be crying in the locker room after a regular season game. Priceless!

Did y’all catch Wade’s post-game remarks? Even though [I think] he was being tongue-in-cheek I thought they were kinda douchey.
I feel like MIA’s big three has been genuinely surprised by all the hate they’ve received. I mean, Wade and James especially have seen nothin but love for their entire lives previously and prob never saw this coming.
The other funny consequence is how other stars are now following MIA’s lead and teaming up, like in NY. And if D Howard ends up in LA. And maybe MIA never gets their ring after all…
I forgot to hit on this… but MIA was revelling in the hate when they were playing well, however I believed that to be a temporary thing. Everyone close to James says that deep down he just wants to be loved by everyone. Thriving as a villain is simply not in his character long term.
I’m not saying whether that’s good or bad, just something to think about.
I will admit that I never thought of LeBron as playing with FIRE. Not the Jordan kind of fire, “Fuck all of you, this is MY game tonight,” but more like a playground, “I’m better than you!” attitude, which doesn’t feel the same to me.

See, I think it would benefit the league, at least as the powers that be see it. James and Wade are [or were] 2 of the leagues biggest cash cows. I’m not sure James will ever fully regain his popularity, but didn’t you yourself say winning will make people forget about his decision? If the Heat were to win it would [potentially] restore the popularity of 2 of the leagues biggest names. This is all pure speculation and I hope to Christ that this is so off base it’s laughable. If anything even close to this happens I will boycott professional basketball for the rest of my life.

I could not have said it better. Very astute observation.
