Dude! That was the first year I watched/played ball. I was going into the 7th grade and was living with my dad in the Aloha Motel in Mcallen, Tx. No matter how it was explained to me I couldn’t figure out why Nordberg running from the cops was more important than watching Hakeem wreck shop on the Knicks. CLUTCH CITY!!!
Lol…bro you couldnt understand because you were.an intelligent 7th grader and knew it was absolutely retarded and made no sense! Hakeem the dream.was a nightmare for.me as well as john starks and his bricks!

I wasn’t watching the Knicks game, but I remember in grade 4 they rolled in a TV to watch the verdict live. Even freaking Canadian grade schoolers had their class interrupted to watch the OJ trial verdict

Getnitdone, aka “the guy who can’t picture the Celtics beating the Heat in a 7 game series”, let me ask you a question. Why do you think Troy Murphy went to the Celtics instead of the Heat? The Heat would have given him more minutes and he’s still relatively young so this very important for a guy turning 30 that still wants a large contract before he’s done.

Make no mistake, the Heat were vying HARD for Murphy’s services because they KNOW they need muscle down low. Why do you suppose this is??? Maybe, just maybe, it’s due to the fact that Murphy thinks the Celts have a better chance at winning the championship than the Heat? Hmmm…Things that make you go hmm…

And getting Bibby does not make the Heat appreciably better. Another 3 point option? Sure. But that’s not what the Heat need.

It’s still a little early to tell, but so far Billups has fit in perfectly with D’antoni’s system. Yesterday was a damn good game, and a damn good win for the Knicks. Lost in everything was the Knicks acquisition of Cory Brewer. Not sure if he’ll find his way into the rotation, but if he does he’s a pretty good man defender on the wing. x2 on Bill Walker getting more pt.
this x 5. If he keeps this up the remainder of the season I will eat a substantial amount of my own crow.

Either he burns out soon, or I didn’t get enough credit to his versatility as a PG.

You still obsessed with that huh? Look, Troy Murphy looks like the white version of Javier Bardem. That’s all I’m going to say about him. The Celtics actually need Murphy more than the Heat do. The Heat are getting Udonis back pretty and whilst they would have preferred to get Troy they got the second best thing out there with Mike Bibby.

Don’t forget I said I can only imagine the Heat beating them IF they end up playing coherently consistently.

You know man, as a native Houstonian I was basically forced to hate Starks and watching him go 2-18 [I think] was awesome. But, as I got older I eventually became a fan of his game: Tough, athletic, shot the shit out of the ball and didn’t take shit from anyone. I’m not ashamed to say I fucking loved John Starks game.

Shit man, you weren’t the only one who thought it wasn’t a good fit. Billups has to be at least 33, and an old, slower pg at the end of his career isn’t exactly what you think of as the ideal pg in D’antoni’s system. But, so far it looks like a great fit. Also saw that the Knicks waived Brewer, so someone’s gonna pick up a pretty good perimeter defender for the playoffs. You gotta think though that he’s just not panning out. Wasn’t he a top 6 pick 3 or 4 years ago? And, I don’t see Bibby signing with Miami really doing anything other than giving them ANOTHER 3 point shooter. Don’t see why they’re cornering the market on that for the post-season. A true pg who plays D seems like what they really need.

Apparently the knicks cut him to sign Jarred Jeffries (queue Isiah Thomas’s entrance music). No seriously.

From what I’ve read about 12 teams have reached out to Brewer, so that should tell you that a good deal of teams feel like he’s a useful player.

Yeah, saw that the Rockets waived Jeffries and he was immediately signed by the Knicks. Seriously, is there a more useless whatever he is than Isiah Thomas? He singlehandedly bankrupted the old CBA, turned the Knicks into a laughing stock and now is apperantly puppeteering some boneheaded moves again. Dude is one of the 5 best pg’s of all time, but eventually you’d think people would stop giving him gigs based off that and start realizing what an awful business man he is. About Brewer: He’s a long, athletic wing who can defend and get out on the break but from the few times I’ve watched him in the pros he seems to think he’s a lot better offensive player than he really is. There has to be something there for the Wolves to just dump him and the Knicks to outright waive him. Maybe he’s just caught in a numbers game, but giving up on a top 10 pick after a few years is strange. Speaking of, the Rockets got Thabeet in the Battier deal. That guy looks like a straight bust.

I’m calling you out for your ridiculous comment of not giving Boston a chance against Miami in the a 7 game series. If they play coherently and with consistency? What kind of caveat is that? I think the Nets can win the championship this year IF they get Dwight Howard, Lebron James, Chris Paul, and 5 other awesome basketball players. Huh?

And I’m calling bullshit on Boston NEEDING Murphy more. That’s absolute bullshit and you know it. Miami desperately needs size down low and an injured Udonis Haslem aint going to cut it. That’s why Miami was going after Murphy so hard. And an old Bibby that can only hit threes now is not a close second for Miami based on their needs.

Admit it, you got caught up in Miami fandom and made a ridiculous statement. Plain and simple. Let’s not try and position around it. I also said I thought this could be the best Lakers team in the last 15 years in the beginning of the season and at least I owned up to it being a little over the top upon reflection.

Lol what do you want me to say, that I was wrong? How can I be wrong when it hasn’t even happened yet, we don’t even know if Boston and Miami will face each other. Your statement was a different kind of beast, you got caught up in Laker fandom like I’ve been caught up in Miami fandom. I don’t have any deep analysis on why I “feel” Miami has a good chance to beat Boston, it’s just something that I wrote in the spur of the moment after they won a big game. You also said the Knicks could be a championship team sooner than later after they beat Miami ignoring that they’ve lost to the Cavs and Orlando most recently.

Yeah Whiteflash, you got it right on C Brewer. For all his physical gifts, he’s still an offensive liability at the pro level and that’s a big big no-no for a D’Antoni offense. And MIN obviously got tired of waiting around on him.

^^^ I have Get blocked 'cause his posts are so absurd, but his Murphey/Bardem comparison reminded me about a Warriors game I went to several years ago. I won behind visitors bench tickets at a bar raffle and watched the Rockets play the Warriors. Don’t remember much about the game but these 3 or 4 college kids sitting directly behind me were absolutely RIPPING Murphey on his looks for the entire game. Some of the shit they were saying had me rolling, but it was all pretty fucked up and I have no idea how Murphey composed himself. He was probably within legal rights to murder those dudes.

Flash - Starks, Charles Oakley and Anthony Mason were my heart growing up, Mason and I are both from the same borough and just loved that teams tenacity and toughness. I am not ashamed of saying I shedded many tears with that team and their heartbreaking defeats to Jordan and Miller (he definitely pushed off!)

To think Starks was drafted by GS cut and was packing groceries down south before coming to the knicks. Kinda like Kurt Warner another fave of mine minus the bible thumping.

Ever since that fuckstump Thomas signed Jeffries a few years back the Knicks and whoever coaches them have had a hardon for this complete waste. Stat line every night no matter what for Jeffries…no more than 5 pts and 5 rebounds. The guy I believe was a top 10 pick and a complete bust, no offensive game and a truly overrated defender.

Im with you with Brewer, it was mind boggling what they did…they need a defensive wing with some upside and some and experience so what to they do? THEY CUT HIM and sign another guy called Derrick Brown who seems like the same player but has proven even less…I dont understand it.

Billups has been awesome…but he really did get torched by Nelson yesterday in the 4th quarter. He aint playing today because of what I consider a borderline dirty play by Howard.

You said you can’t PICTURE the Celts beating Miami which is the equivalent of not giving the Celts a chance in hell which is OUTRAGEOUS. That you’re trying to be slippery about it now is laughable. It was an over-the-top statement. Period.

His jumper is absolutely atrocious. Was watching a summer league game a couple of years ago and - no exaggeration - he missed at least 10 WIDE OPEN jumpers. I mean there wasn’t a defender within 3 feet of him on any attempt, and he was brickin’ 'em like there was a box fan blowing behind him. Didn’t stop him from shooting damn near every time down though. Someone will sign him I’m sure, but you gotta think at this point the team will ask him to fill a defined role off the bench.

Mase was the shit! I remeber every Finals game he had a different ad shaved on his dome, haha. I loved his backdown, post-up dribble from halfcourt. My favorite Oakley story is when he walked into the visitors locker room and slapped the shit out of Tyrone Hill in the shower 'cause Hill owed him money, haha. Oak didn’t play! Maybe Jeffries is a good character guy in the locker room? Think he had a pretty bad knee injury early in his career and he just never got his game back. You know what man? I think Derrick Brown can eventually be an athletic defensive stopper off the bench, kinda like a poor mans Stacey Augmon, but I’m still not sure why they waived Brewer. Maybe Brown was way cheaper and they’re trying to save space for another big name cough - Paul - cough. The Knicks seem to be stockpiling athletic wings, but they’re only giving minutes to certain players, and it seems D’Antoni falls in and out of love with certain guys every other week. It’s too damn late in the year to be playing with the rotation, even with the recent additions. I missed the Howard cheapshot yesterday, but for a guy that’s considered one of the leagues good guys he seems to take a lot of swipes at dudes. I honestly think damn near every game I watch with him he’s taking a late shot at a dude after the whistle, usually in the form of a no look 'bow or a walking away swipe to the head. Someone needs to dump him on his ass for that shit.

Real GM says the Heat may sign eddy curry…HA HA HA, are they that desperate for a center! I swear to all on this thread if you put me in the NBA (played varsity B basketball in HS Yoooooo) I would average more rebounds then this tremendous lump of shit…(oh and Im 5’9).

I would love for this to happen…please Heat give Big pussy a chance!

LOL…he also scared the shit out of Jeff Mcinnis and absolutely destroyed Charles Barkley in a exhibition game in 1996, IT WAS AWESOME…I love the OAK TREE!

As for Brown, I think your right, but they were also saying that Larry Brown and Donnie Walsh are still very good friends and supposedly he told Walsh to sign him…shit I would rather them sign Brown and keep Brewer and get rid of Turiaf! I know we are small but seriously he plays hard and all but he really blows.

As I type the Knicks are absolutely destroying NOLA…sans Billups…Carter and Douglas are tearing it up.

and Jared Jeffries missed a point blank shot.
