I can’t believe you guys not even mentioning Eagles as SB contenders. Right now I think we have the best O-line in the NFL. Not only that we had the best off-season in the NFL.
Last year we had really big problems with 3rd & 1’s and stuff like that, but with our new and improved O-line and our new fullback Leonard Weaver, how are we gonna be stopped?
Not to mention if Jeremy Maclin turns out to be a fantastic player like Deshawn did, its a rap. ;]

Two words: (1) Brian (2) Dawkins.
Eagles are a great team and if not the Redskins, I hope they pull through in the NFC. I hate the Cowboys and really don’t like Eli Manning, but love McNabb, Westbrook, and used to absolutely love Dawkins. I think there is a very good chance the Eagles will play for the NFC championship.
Really the Eagles? There are good but they are aging, McNabb will get hurt or either choke in a big time game, as past history tells us. The Redskins come on eic they wanted to get rid of Campbell or at least looking for a trade.
I hate the Giants but they are the team to beat in the NFC East with either America’s team or the Eagles getting a wild card spot.
Steelers are a great team they play a war of attrition type of game. Hope to see Ben’s knee knocked out like Brady’s was last year. Oh and James Harrison too.

Actually I give my football insight credit to fantasy football. Before fantasy football, I watched the Denver Broncos and the playoffs. I could care less about other teams. Now that I have played FF for going on 6 years, I know all the rosters, I know players strengths and weaknesses. I know how guys should be and should not be used. The game is just so much more fun when you really immerse yourself into it.

This is actually the reason I stopped playing fantasy football. I played for a few years back in the late 90’s/early 00’s, but had to stop. It was just to time consuming for me and it wasn’t worth it for only a couple hundred dollar prize. Maybe if the pot was close to $1000. I don’t have the time or energy to devote to it anymore. I don’t need to know the Panthers backup right guard and how it will affect Biakabutuka’s numbers any more and I like it better that way.

I’m a life long Steeler fan so i’ll get that out of the way first.
My thoughts so far.
(1) Reggie Bush in done. Those knees won’t get better with age.Saints need defense more than him.
(2) Michael Vick should have been picked up by now.The guy can still perform.
(3) T.O. what’s Grandma say about playing in cold cold Buffalo?
(4) Andre Johnson is the most complete reciever in the NFL imo.
(5) I hate Tom Brady and the tuck rule. Raider fans got fucked over huge on that one.
Just my random thoughts so far. I may live in hockey country but I love the NFL. As much as I would love to talk shit about the other teams in the AFC north I won’t…yet.Go Black and Gold!
Discuss.

You might as well become a Raider fan. Get over the tuck rule. While you’re at it, why don’t you go ahead and complain about the video taping as well. Fact is after the questionable call, the pats still drove the ball down the field and kicked a long field goal in the snow. That wasn’t an accident.
Used to be a brady hater, now I’m kind of a brady fan, though I’m not a patriots fan. I hope they make it to the playoffs though, so one of my teams can whup their ass!
I’d like to see the bears get some “clear” wins this year, too many close games with them and their blocked field goals and shit…
Some good thoughts on this thread. I am a Chargers and Redskins fan, so I’m represented well already. My predictions for the playoff teams this season:
AFC
Pats
Colts
Steelers
Chargers
Ravens
Titans
NFC
Cardinals
Eagles
Vikings
Redskins
Giants
Falcons
I actually think the Super Bowl will be Chargers vs. Cardinals, with Chargers winning their first ever.
Some random thoughts:
I have no idea why the Vikings don’t take Vick ASAP. He would fit perfectly into their system and is basically a Tarvaris Jackson with legs. Can you imagine a backfield with him at QB, Peterson at RB, and Harvin playing a swing back/slot receiver a la Reggie Bush? There would be so many formation changes they could do, it’s insane. Vick could line up at QB, then swing to the slot, while Harvin drops to RB and Peterson takes the snap. All of this, BTW, taking place on turf. With Berrian as a receiver, they would be one solid TE away from having the most potent offense in the NFL for years to come. It is almost a crime against the game if the Vikings do not get Vick.
I can’t stand Tom Brady. He is the biggest fairy in football, bar none. I would not shed a single tear if his career was over and he never regained his spot as a dominant QB. Him and Belichick drive me crazy. Hate the Pats.
This is truly the now-or-never year for the Chargers. If they don’t get their shit together this season, it will not happen anytime soon. Personally, I think the Chargers fucked themselves a little in the draft. Larry English was not 1st round material, IMO, but I hope I’m wrong. Still, the Chargers will be unstoppable if they don’t have so many freaking injuries. Last year, Cromartie, LT, Gates, and Chambers all had to fight through injuries. Hoping that is done for now.
Related to the point above, I think LT is going to have a solid year. Not an MVP caliber year or anything, but I think he will be in the top 3 most productive backs this year. His carries are going to be down because the Chargers are relying more and more on the pass and swing/screen plays to Sproles. But LT will still get 20-25 carries a game. If he can turn those into solid runs, he should average 115-yard games and climb back to the top.
huh huh… yeah, (laughing like Butthead) He’s such a fairy when he bones supermodels.

Sorry but the Giants aren’t the “team to beat.” Especially with out Plax. As you can see yourself the Eagles demonstrated that.
Im sorry but the Eagles never won a Championship ring and the Giants recently have. Hmm who won last years NFC East Division, the Giants did. What notable receiver do the Eagles have? Only a second year deshawn jackson. Until they are dethroned you have got to respect them and I hate the Giants.
Like I said McNabb the choker will get hurt as he always does and those 2 L’s will hurt them. They are capable of making it but it all has to fall in place.
Like I said you have to dethrone the NFC East champs to before you can claim that title.
I’m a Chargers guy. Say whatever you want about Merriman not being the same, but their 1st round pick was also a pretty heady, speedy, and aggressive LB as well that no-one had heard of. And he’s in camp competing with Merriman.
Having Ron Rivera as the D-coordinator is a great thing for LB’s, my main concern is with the secondary. They have the athletes, but they have to be smarter this year. Have to be. Jammer, Cromartie, their 1st rounder from last year Cason needs to be better. Granted, turned out Cromartie played very injured last year, but if the LB’s are going to pick up their responsibilities in zone only to be beat deep because the secondary is retarded it’s going to be a frustrating season.
For the Eagles… They’re always my favorite in the NFC East. Watching Westbrook run the ball is a gift to football fans. Hopefully the loss of Dawkins won’t effect the defense too much, but I think it will.
Why are the Chargers not getting any attention? Because LT doesn’t play pre-season, there’s no inter-lockeroom drama, AJ Smith is tight lipped and Norv isn’t good on Camera. The evil 4 letter would rather spend it’s time on Rex Ryan’s gut and Mangini’s Browns. Just look at the lead headlines for today and there isn’t one team being mentioned that’s West of the Mississippi. NFL Football Teams, Scores, Stats, News, Standings, Rumors - National Football League - ESPN East coast bias. It’s a reality. But, they do have Vincent Jackson as the lead story in the “Camp Watch” section.
There’s no way I can predict what the heck is going to happen this year, but teams that I’ll sit down to watch will be:
San Diego
Atlanta
Green Bay
Philly
Baltimore
Pittsburg
NY Giants
San Francisco
And
any time Seattle plays at home. That stadium goes apeshit and has better energy than most in the league. With them possibly being a contender for the NFC West again it’s always a good idea to tune in.
Percy Harvin is already being talked about being the rookie of the year. If that team can get it’s shit together and maybe pick-up Michael Vick look out. I would rather reduce AP’s touches at the start of the year to save him a little for the playoff push and to see what this Harvin kid can do in some new formations and in the backfield.
Not that anything is “new” anymore in the NFL…everything has been done before just differant eras.
Vince Young…can’t that dude just shut up? Self confidance can be a bad thing too. I’m curious to hear what Titan’s fan think of him here. The only info I read is from sports writers not actual fans. He was rookie of the year and helped them get to the playoffs. He’s proved he can play at this level.
Is he just not the type of player that can improve year after year. That’s what hall of famer’s do. Stop talking about the hall of fame VY. Worry about today.
I might even feel sorry for the browns this year. Getting rid of K2 was a hard pill to swallow as far as production but better in the long run. The head couch in Tampa is already calling him too emotional. Are you suprised?
Steeler player to keep an eye on this year I think is Lawrence Timmons. Love this guys speed. Will he ever be a run stuffer? who knows but I trust Dick Lebeau will play to his strengths and be solid. Their secondery is what worries me this year. Ike Taylor seemed to sleep walk his way through the superbowl. He made some plays but he looked lazy.
I will shut up about the tuck rule and Tom Brady. Yeah they did make that drive at the end to get into field goal range but…but…
I think the bungles are going to surprise some folks this year. Ravens are going to be in a dog fight with them for second place of course
Cards are no one hit and done. They should be solid again. They got the defence.
Also a Cowboys fan… so very excited that football is almost here. I have watched every damn sport I could trying vainly to fill the void that the lack of football has placed in my soul… and now we have arrived at the threshold of epic…

Dude I found myself getting fired up over a dog show a few weeks ago. Rooting for the Kerry Blue Terrier to take the whole show, calling bullshit when he lost…

Timmons is going to mangle people this year. He will stuff the run like a maniac if Big Snack and the DL up front can keep him clean. If he has to work through traffic he may struggle but we’ll see. Snack should have a fire under his ass as he is in a contract year, which he showed by coming to camp in much better shape than years previous.
Secondary is not an issue at all. 92 and 56 (and now 94) will not give teams enough time to pick the DBs apart, and Willie Gay is an upgrade over McFadden. So the two starters lost will not be missed. And the D was fine in the SB except for 2 plays.
If Aaron Smith and Troy stay healthy Lebeau’s unit will be a top 3 defense again this year, which means playoffs for sure. Everything after that is entirely up to 7.
