Long time lurker, first time poster here.
Wanted to share my share my progress from last year for my first bodybuilding contest. Any thoughts or advice on things to work on would be appreciated.
Start: 170lbs ~14%bf
End: 140lbs ~5%bf
Congratulations man! How did you do? Did you have a coach?
Mind sharing a little bit more detail on what you learned and how your views on training, cardio and nutrition have changed (if at all) throughout this whole process? Do you plan to compete again?
Great combo of before/after shots. Do you have other poses? I’d love to give my thoughts, but I always hesitate when I’m only working off of one picture. I know quite well how many things you need to remember when onstage, or how a competitor can look amazing in one pose, but just so-so in another.
Congrats on the contest. As your first show, how did you enjoy the experience? Things you would change? Things that you’re glad you did?

Congrats on doing your first contest! You should be extremely proud for sticking to a plan for 20 weeks and seeing it through. Most cannot do that.
That being said, it looks like you definitely brought good conditioning for your first show, but I’ll also second what Stu said about other angles. It’s tough to tell a lot from one shot. That being said, from this pic, you look full on stage and it appears that you peaked pretty well, which many can screw up.
What did your cardio and training look like leading up? Diet as well?
Thanks for all the comments guys. I’ll post some more photos here of other shots so you guys can take a look. I did have a coach the entire time helping me with diet, workouts, posing, etc. I’ve been in the off-season for a year now. I plan on competing again next year in the same show with a “warm-up” about a month beforehand. Simply put, the competition day was one of the best experiences I have ever had. Everyone was cheering for each other out on stage and helping get everything set up behind the scenes. I got to meet so many other competitors and everyone was totally awesome.
Results: Novice Class, 5th Place
Open Class, 4th Place

Yeah probably didn’t quite have the glutes for that pair of trunks, OP. Congratulations on your comp though, you looked good!
