Thank you, and that quote is very true!

Stallion, truly impressive as always.

Alright, I’ll play the game, but I have to make a couple of points clear here. First and foremost, I am a Power Lifter, so my squats will break parallel, but I’m not going ATG. I also wear neoprene on my elbows and knees to keep them warm, but I will not wear the belt for this challenge. These aren’t knee wraps, just sleeves.

I haven’t 20 repped in several months, so I’m going to start light and work my way back up. These were done at the end of my Squat workout after hitting a PR of 455x3, then 425x3 and 405x3.

Day One nice and easy…275x20.

I’ll be 20 repping at the end of every Monday Squat session and trying to add 10-20lbs each time until I can’t hit 20, then stick with that weight until I get 20 at it.

Aaalright! Here we go!!! Excellent sportsmanship for taking on the challenge! I am excited to watch your videos! This thread is fantastic! I watched your first 20-rep squat with interest. The depth I would say is good on most reps. And for your style I give it a thumbs up! Some of the other videos posted did not even break parallel, and that just doesn’t cut it. And this challenge is first of all a challenge against one self, to push the boundaries. You squat inside a powerrack, so I am excited to see how it goes when the weights gets up, it is going to be really painful, I promise you, and then there is only YOU that can defeat the pain and win the battle against the iron. When lifting inside a powerrack, there is no limitations for you. Most excellent comrade! And good luck, I’ll make sure to check this thread often to check for updates!

I hope more people wil follow, and for those that haven’t quite got the rules right in their sumbissions, I hope they are not discouraged, but try to strike back even harder. Never give up! Never, never, never!

Thanks Stallion.

When I squat, I really crank my elbows forward so that in the bottom position they hit the outside of my thighs. In competition, I know that once my elbows have touched, I have hit depth and use that as an indicator to come back up. I don’t want to change the form, because I need that information come meet day.

I will add weight next week, and as much as I hate to fail, I am not afraid to fail in a rack, so I will be pushing heavy weights in the near future.

Nice work! Watching that brings back painful flashbacks, so now today I will throw up 365 lbs. to see how many I can grind out. I’m not trying for 20 yet, just want to see how many reps I can get with the increased weight. I didn’t bring my camera today, so I will just have to post results.

I’m not sure what kind of sick, twisted challenge you have gotten me into, but I kind of like it.

Thank you for the compliment. Yeah, we are a bunch of sickos!

Week 2 of 20 reppers. I wasn’t sure I was going to do these today, because I tweaked my back last Thursday. However, everything felt good working up to a heavy single, so I ditched the belt and upped the weight by 25lbs. Still not too bad, I’ll move up to 315 next time.

These were done after Low Bar Squats:
495x1
515x1 (5lb PR)
475x1

300x20 (PR +25lbs)

stallion I found a new rival for you!

407 lbs.

lol people think squats suck in general( weaker people) you gotta be a T-Man to do 20

The guy in the video had some troubles but I give him an A for effort. The bit about Jesse Marunde was pretty touching, I thought.

anyone hear about this routine?

m/w/f

squat 1x20
db pullover 1x20
bench press 2x10
bent row 2x10

increase squat by 5 lbs each session for six weeks, that will put on 90 lbs onto your twenty squat max. the idea is to start 90 lbs lower than you 5 rep max so at the end you can go for twenty on it.

i was thinking of doing this when i got back to my gym at college.

How do you figure how much weight to use for 20 reps?

Great question. Start at 60% of your 1RM and adjust up or down. Won’t know till you try it

Yep I would agree with this estimate. Take it slow even if its very light, you muscles need oxygen so if you go to fast you could fatigue with very light weight even. Its about tempo so take it slow and BREATHE. Good luck.

I did 80kg 2x20 yesterady… It was only about 48 hours after my meet so it’s a starting point. I’ll go to 100kg next week. My legs are surprisingly sore today tho.

I’m doing a deload this week, but I will give it my best next Monday.

I’ve done these twice now, and my legs have been pretty sore both times. I don’t expect it to get much better.

This was a good video.

He did 17 reps. (The counter on the video counted one rep too much).

I know of this guy. He is quite a bit stronger than me, and he has a warrior attitude that is very seldom to be seen.

If he put his mind to it, he will beat me. Today I did 16 reps of 385lbs, and expecting to hit 20 reps soon.

This dude will hit 407lbs (185kg) x 20 no problem in a workout or two.

For first attempt at 20 reps, this is awesome. When he gets used to 20 reps, if he do, he can get 190kg x 20 in no time.

He can beat me for strength, but for effort he cannot beat me when I give it all. When it comes to effort, I think we are equal. Only few people is able to give it all when it comes to leg training, most of people who train with weight are afraid to do it. And really, fear is all what it is about, even if you miss a squat rep you won’t die if you have security in place.

And remember what I said, if you can walk after doing 20 reps of squats, then you are not working hard.

Very good!

Next time, increase the weight, and when you are done I want to see you lying on the floor crying for mercy! You can do more weight for 20 reps!

Embrace the pain! Be a T-man!

I think you can do 20 reps with at least 5kg more, the more often you do these high reppers, the more used you get to it!

Well done, depth seemed fine as well.
