All ready with you dude…

Ever sense C. Poliquin talked about the rep schemes for the different muscles, legs being a high volume muscle and hams being lower I have been riding that band wagon and loving uh hating it each week… =P

Solid

Mission Accomplished!

20 x 225 in memory of JM,

2 minute rest

10 sets of 3 x 335, with 70 sec rest in between.

What a rush!!!

This was my first ever set of such high reps, it wasn’t easy but highly satisfying once done. I will make it a staple of my leg routine, thanks to OP-kingkrs for the idea. Jesse Marunde RIP

You are right, it is highly satisfying when you are done. I am going to be doing my second set tomorrow with 260. The burn and pump is great! Besides all the “less than” gym goers will stare at you. haha.

These are definitely a staple in my leg routine.

get a load at this thick handled deadlift! Looks like 655lbs

Wow. Definitely gonna be taking more resting time in between reps now!

This is very tragic. That could have been anybody!

Calm down buddy. You are not going to die if you have short rest sets. His death was caused by something else. The workout more than likely pushed him over the edge.

Gimme a break.[/quote]

That’s the problem though unfortunatley, it can be when people push themselves very hard that they discover they have a potentially fatal health problem.

This is why athletes should get regular medical checks.

I’ll be doing 20 rep squats later today.

Just got back from the Gym and I did complete my 2nd installment of 20. It went like this.

135x5 wu
225x6 wu
225x5 wu
275x2
315x2
260x20

The 275 and 315 sets were to make the 260 feel lighter, and it worked. The first 12 were pretty smooth, long pause with lots of deep breaths. 3 more, more heavy breathing, then sprinted the last five. That is a great feeling of accomplishment when you finally do finish the set.

Next Sunday 270x 20 is the goal. I have done this weight in the past, but it was brutal. I will hopefully smash my old PR. I will keep Jesse in my mind for motivation to complete the set.

Keith

Today I got 270x20 and it sucked! But I did it. Todays workout looked like this.

135x5
225x5
275x2
315x2
335x2
270x20

The heavy sets just before my 20 made the 270 feel light, thus helping me mentally through the set.

OMG! Jesse Murande died? I had no idea! Does anyone know what from? He was young too. The guy was super impressive!

BTW the Rumsfeld avatar is hilarious!

after reading this thread last week, i finally manned up and tried a set of 20 rep squats.

it went like this:
225x6
255x6
275x4
315x2
315x2
135x20

i only paused twice in the 20 rep set, so i know i can add more weight. the sets of 315x2 were pr’s for me, so that was exciting. next week i’m gonna shoot for 185 and see what happens.

I’m trying to do 20 rep front squats. I just got back into lifting after losing about 40 lbs of muscle while taking 24 units of pure math and science over a semester and smoking heavily. I am currently at the point where I can do 13 reps, 115 lbs, 3 sets, within 8 minutes. I am slowly working up the number of reps until I am doing 20x3. I do this workout every 8-10 days microcycle, and I do back squats for my other squat workout, 5x5 style. My old max squat was 350 at 197 6’1".
