Since you took the time to find multiple videos of world record or close to world record attempts I would guess your being sarcastic. But since I am not quite sure if you’re being sarcastic; how are these not powerlifting squats if they are breaking powerlifting records. It’s a personal preference and squatting with your feet extremely wide is not only hard to walk out but also hard to hit depth with.

Hello Hodges.
I took my time and found multiple videos as a way of getting my point through. It’s not just a single guy, who is a dumb fuck, and squats TOO DEEP. People must learn, that they should not bend their knees too much.
I like the shaking Tate much better, as he can walk out the weight in such a width, that’s just awesome.

TOO DEEP?! Are you fucking kidding me, if you can squat your max and your ass bounces off the ground your a god. it means you have muscle strength AND flexibility. ALL powerlifters strive for flexibility… well at least the ones that know what their doing…
Dont bend your knees to much? Shit why dont you just go squat in the smith machine and let the men squat for depth

I’m pretty sure jonatan-shg was being sarcastic.

I feel so special that people are arguing about my squat, its like the haters actually think I care.
And for the record, the only squat I bury is my opener. If you go too deep you just waste potential. If you bounce at the bottom (“ATG” for the dumbasses) you show that if you went to parallel you will fail. I know because I used to dive bomb since I lacked hip and hamstring strength. Its called Stretch Reflex If you don’t believe me try it and see.
And for the record Russaldo, The APF (the dark side fed to the lifters on this board) all you have to do is get to parallel, no breaking, just get to. If I threw on knee wraps for the last squat and wrapped them the way I do I would only be about an inch high.
OP I apologize for hijacking your thread and not even posting some advice, I feel like an ass. Bring your stance in and really force your hips out. As soon as you hit depth really arch your middle of your back and force your elbows down. What fed is your meet in?

Well I sure as hell am not gonna hate on you since you are a great squatter, and I respect your fed, I will most likely do a raw meet in january in USAPL if I have time. I was just proving a point that not ALL federations make you break parallel.
it aint rocket science but it also aint necessary in a powerlifting comp
It is in the ones I go to but then I guess that really depends on what fed you’re in.
My meet is an NASA meet in Des Moines, IA. I moved my stance in, helps a ton. And no worries about stealin the thread! One question tho, what do you guys bring to eat at meets?

Anything that won’t upset your stomach and will give you sustained energy. I usually take trail mix, apples, beef jerky, granola bars, etc. and I try to eat a sandwich after I bench.

K its your story, but I aint listenin’
You are also high. Not it isn’t a full squat high, but I’d give you a red light from the front and feel good about it high.
Bullshit.
I too would have given it a red light from the front. Its about 2" high IMO.
You shouldn’t be judging depth from the front unless it’s obvious. If you’re watching this live, it’s not obvious. You can’t even see where the hip crease is, and you’re calling 2" high FROM THE FRONT. It’s bullshit.
Actually it is obvious. You can easily see the hip crease given the tight pants. And just to be sure, I played it back hitting the play/pause button as quickly as I could (which is where I got my 2" estimate from). At no point is he close to breaking parallel. Red light from me without a 2nd thought.
Finally, the only angle we’re given is from the front. Are we supposed to just pretend that every squat is good if we don’t have a side angle to see?
x2. He’s high without a doubt. Now, for the APF or HighPA, it would probably pass. That doesn’t mean he wasn’t high – those feds don’t even enforce their own rules the way they are written when it comes to squat depth.

Thats true. I guess ill edit to say ‘all powerlifting comps’

Hello Russaldo.
I do agree with you. You should practice keeping a nice tone, though…
I compete in the IPF, where people actually bend their knees, and rules are enforced.

I have no issue with you thinking it’s high. I have an issue with you (and the other guy) saying you’d red light it, in a meet, as the head judge. But if you think it’s obviously high, fine. I disagree, but I don’t want to have an argument about what “obviously high” means, so we can just leave it there.

No argument needed - in IPF; Obviously high. In some multiply feds; white lights. Anything else is debate on which standard is “best”.

My squat is sky high in the IPF, and its high in a good run APF meet.I wont deny it, but I will also show you all this weekend that I can make that squat an easy 2nd attempt.
And OP, bring Snack cakes, gatorade, just anything that you can eat and wont feel like shit after you ate it. I can only get down Zebra Cakes when I compete and maybe some pop-tarts. Depending on your energy supplement regiment the day of your meet, you may be able to eat more.
