7-13-11 squat day

safety bar box(warmup lower box like past weeks)-bar, 170, 260, 350x1
add plate on box
440x1 added belt
530x1

600x1 added inzer wraps

680x1
800x1 reverse band, added ace suit straps down, .5 in higher box
900x0 lol.

that’s all. felt like doing some suit work today, the 900 was real close, just drifted a little to forward, but this is also the lowest i’ve ever squated in a suit, next time i’ll just increase the box height a little and i’m sure it’ll go. 680 didn’t go all that well either haha. i can tell it’s time for a deload again. i’m prolly gonna suit up and try to pull 700 on sunday when i deadlift. i’m about halfway through my cycle so i just wanna do some stuff to see where i’m at and to have some fun. that’s the biggest part, making things fun. just did some extra rolling after squatting, didn’t feel like doin anything else so i just called it good.

that’s all, had to get going to drive to the out of town powerlifting meet for the weekend. things went well, had the gf giving me a lift off, went pretty well actually, thankfully we have a competition bench with a lift off platform though!

655x0 suited from floor

sooo i wanted to do some suited work and pull from the floor to attempt 700, so i put my suit on for my reverse band sets to get it seated and try it out, went well. put 655 on the bar from the floor and man i could hardly get down to the bar, was in horrible position and tried to pull, got it off the floor and called it good, position was way to bad. next time if i do this, i’m gonna have real loose straps instead of tight and possibly just pull straps down.

anywhoo. congrats to everyone at the meet. little kyle pulled over 500 in his first meet. gorilla strength squatted 611, hawkcapt had a good day and our little hobbit freind had a pretty decent day, not what he wanted but he moved down a weightclass and increased his comp bench by 30lbs. eric lilliebridge finally hit his 2100 raw total, jake prazak benched 920 in the 242 class and it was great to see jeremy frey back on the platform!

ummm, i don’t think i can narrow it down to one thing. doing more upper back work, hamstring work, safety bar, squatting multiple times a week, and messing around with gear i think have all helped out my squatting. well honestly it didn’t feel that bad, can’t wait to mess around with my squat suit even more.

7-21-11 deload

well…i got in the gym late and forgot that they close at 10pm. so all i had time for was just partially warming up on squats and some stretching.

so that’s all, i wanted to do my squatting and dead deloading tonight but that didn’t work out, so this is all i’m gonna do for my deload week lol.

7-27-11 squat day

ssb, different box height, lower, just used acutal squat box-warmup- bar, 170, 260

ssb gm’s- 220x12

so that’s all, squatting went well. hot as hell in gym again, didn’t feel all that good so i did just one set of reverse band and one set of gm’s and called it good and got the fuck outta there! and i’ll address the 3 rep situation. i’m going to sturgis in two weeks and i’m not gonna be able to lift that week, that was gonna be my one rep week so instead of skipping that week i decided to skip my 5 rep week. but this is gonna mess up my ā€œkind of scheduleā€ soooo i’m just gonna take it one week at a time for a little bit and do what i do best…improvising! my training buddy hit a pretty easy 435 raw bench today, he’s on track for 450 or 450 at the meet. everyone is kicking names and taking ass, should be a good meet for everyone.

want to say thanks to people staying and spotting. i needz to buy a round next time we go out!

benching went well, i forgot to do my high rep sets but things felt pretty good. well, deadlift day tomorrow, dropping my block height by half tomorrow and will be using my weights from beginning of cycle.

625x1 to much sweat, couldn’t grip anymore

so that’s all. soooo much sweating it was hard to grip the bar. soo i decided just to pick up where i left off instead of going back to my starting weights. it went ok, besides the grip issue.

What conventional dropsets? How’d they feel?

Do you use chalk? If not that might help with the grip problem due to sweating.

they felt okay, i like the way conventional feels from the knee up but still didn’t feel like my position off the floor was good.

hahaha yea i use chalk. this is beyond sweating, people don’t really understand what its like where we lift. some guy in the gym on sat morning thought i just got out of the sauna. when you mix that much sweat and chalk it becomes even more slick and even with towels i just can’t dry off enough. i may bring in a small fan just so i can air out my hands next time.

so that’s all. wanted to do some straight bar work to get a feel for the bar. went really well. all weights went well and pretty easy including the 715 and 775. it actually cooled off a little today so the gym wasn’t as hot as it has been. got running late on time so i didn’t do much for acc stuff, but i did end with some band assisted stretching and traction work.

8-5-11 bench day

that’s all. things went pretty well. the 405 was weird and i messed that up, the 425 went a lot better. surprised today went pretty well. my elbows and shit are messed up from straight bar squatting on wed, and i’ve been slightly distracted and down. ended up breaking up with the gf.

so i’m starting a bouncing job tonight, should be interesting, i have the ok to tackle people haha
