19 and Training Hard for 1.5 Years

The proof of the pie is in the pudding. Clearly this kid’s program worked for him as HE HAS SHOWN in his pics.

I agree with the idea of whole body being an effective way to train, and many strongmen/athletes like Waterbury has built huge and lean physique with whole-body and push-pull and/or upper-lower splits. But there are many lifters who make excellent progress on body part splits too…and the OP appears to be responding well to his routine.

You can scream “steroids” at the top of your lungs to make yourself feel better but the fact remains that guys like Ronnie et alia make most of your golden age BBs look anorexic, and these guys train with split routines. Amsterdam Animal , Exile Swede and Prof X on this site (natural) have built up massive physiques with split routines.
Also when you’ve been doing whole body, you usually make gains by going to a split and vice versa.

The idea is to add muscle to your frame (“sled dragging added inches to my calves as you can see”), not appear as hardcore as possible to toot your horn among your friends (“Wooah…I drag a sled barefoot, see how manly I am, guyz”).

If your goal is to add muscle, no one cares how hardcore you make yourself sound unless you look different from the year before.
Don;t blindly parrot your favorite coach to gain credibility.Rant over.

your training too frequently, and ill bet for to long. Why are you training 5 days a week?splitting your body parts?yuor not a pro bb juiced to the eyeballs training for a title are you? No ,thought not.full body three days a week.Squat, chin, row, bench dip deads.Thats it.Stop reading the crap in the weider mags.

whats your prolem bro? If that training is producing good result for him why not keep it. I prefer split training as well. It’s preferance. Squats, Bench, Deads, Rows, Dips, and Chins will build a massive physique, but IMO it want be perfect w/o some isolation moves, and direct shoulder work. Adding curls, militaries, close grips, and a few other supplementary exercises would be a better bet for balance.

BTW no need to sound hostile.

my apologies for sounding rather hostile.there was a time when bbs used to train hard three times a week on basic movements. Then some time around the mid sixties (or when ever weider joined the party) things changed.suddenly it was all split routines, superset this n that, all promoted by Weider to sell his mags.these routines were marketed by weider as an adjuncted to sell his supplements.

They were endorsed by "the new breed " of bb.yeah the ones who used steroids.now i hvae no problem with steroids.BUT in the late 70s i was one of those youngsters doing the split this n that ,fancy movement routines eating weiders shit, and getting nowhere. When what i needed was someone to say hey,get back to basics, and train like Reeves,Eifferman etc,NOT like the new breed who use drugs to compensate for hard work. This nay seem a little naieve, but back then we had no internet,no-one to ask, apart from the current champs q & a colums in muscle builder

,well you can imagine what they told us to do! yeah more long w/outs more weider weight gain!Every now and again that 19 year old inside me comesback, and i can feel the frustration again, which can become evident in my responses, once again sorry.

Best post. Who has propagated this myth that all split trainees don’t do Squats, Bench, Deadlifts, etc…

Has anyone given the kid props for pulling off these gains despite having CP?? Next time any of US are feeling like we’ve been dealt a tough genetic hand…

Good on ya, OP.

Your lifting numbers are also pretty solid for just 1.5 years of training. Keep it up and you’ll be a beast at the ripe old age of 22.

thanks dynamicfitness it does get real annoying having CP. it shits me that i cant go as hard and heavy because of it. like wen i do DB bench the balance and muscles on my left side give up far b4 my right. like if im doin 70lbs i can get a good 8 on the left. but feels like i could 90lbs for a good 8 on my right. its how it is though had it all my life so im pretty used 2 it.

anyway. i was thinking about what coomo was saying about overtraining and having a pro BB split. i wanna build alot of size in 08. so im goin 2 drastically change my lifting.
dont mind getting back 2 the basics…

id say most of u know alot more then me so now u know how i look. can u throw up some some good mass building splits n stuff or good links 2 some.

cheers jason
