Small update. Bench had been doing great recently, should feels great and don’t have any sciatic nerve pain. But I still can’t catch a break. Was showing a buddy how to do a split squat and pulls something minor in my groin. It more through me off mentally cause I could feel it squatting but not bad. And didn’t know what would happen for deadlift. Hopefully it heals up but it does not seem to be a major problem. I am going to start hitting heavier weight a bit too see where my numbers are around for my comp in April. I haven’t done any real heavy stuff in over a year. Aside from the one week I went off program and did 526x4, 341x4 and 723x4. Those pretty much hit or beat my previous best sets at that weight just jumping heavier for that one week.
Recent lifts were 520x1, 351x1 and 695x1 bench was after 305 for 3x5 tng and a paused single at 331. Bench was a long pause and moved good for being after volume. Deadlift moved great but whip caught me a bit. Squat is doing ok but have to slow the decent to prevent hurting myself further and it is showing on my numbers. Still think I could hit an upper 500 squat if things don’t get worse. Will link the lifts tomorrow. Forgot to hit record on my 520 but recorded 501x2

Heres 530/360/670x2 and 710x1 from last week. Groin was giving me some discomfort on squat and wasn’t able to pull light deadlift (490ish) after the heavy squat. Bench went good and the top single was after 3x5 at 307.5 and a paused single with 336. Deadlift the 670 went great but I felt the groin strain when I put the weight down at the end. Completely lost confidence in pulling the 710 as you can see. This week so far has been a bit better. Pulled a good 720 and will be benching to 365 tomorrow and a 540 squat on Friday. Squat would easily be high 500s if I could drop into the hole the way I normally do.

Don’t want to jynx it but I think I’m starting to heal up. Gonna post after I do my squat on Friday but so far did 720 pretty good. Quite a bit of room in there to run if I continue to heal up. Benched 365 an hour ago after a 310 for 3x5 and a paused single at 336. Felt heavy but it’ll move better when I’m not pre exhausted. Squat is 540. I’m gonna take squat a hair faster into the hole but not much and see how I feel.

Bench from yesterday 3x5 at 310, paused single at 336 and 365
Rough lifting this past week. Did a lot of walking leading up to my deadlift day (shed hunting for deer antlers to plan hunting next season). I managed to pull a top single of 730 but would not have passed comp. I’m retaking the single this Monday. I’m skipping shed hunting this year to focus on my comp. Groin is feeling a lot better on squat. Bench I actually failed the top single at 367.5 but that had a bunch of other problems with a couple long work days leading up to being rushed into my lifting. The volume 3x5 at 311.5 before didn’t help either. I’m retaking this lift next week as well. Squat today went a bit better than those other two lifts and hit 545 not bad at all. Going 555 next week and expect it to move better than the 545 this week.

Great lifts as usual Vince, but that bench single flew up!
The two warm up singles moved fast. I would like the top single to move quicker.

367lbs moved well, but did look like there was at least some effort involved.
Yea. Bench seems to be lagging. When I first started lifting it was my strong point. Now it’s my worst lift comparatively. Squat and deadlift are looking pretty good though.
First day with no groin discomfort and my lower back wasn’t fried like last week. Pulled a sloppy 730 the last two weeks each for one of the reasons above. Coach wanted to drop it to 710 to build confidence. I suggested keep it at 730 or bump to 735 or 740. He said I could do 735. It moved great this week. Felt like 780-790 could be a possibility under great conditions soon. We will see. I’ll probably post the 555 squat and 735 pull together on ig in a day or two. Bodyweight is down a hair at 195. I always tend to pull better at a slightly lower bodyweight.
