Pulled 665 for max reps today. Not the best reps, possibly cause Friday was my first day back to a hard squat set. Hit 7 a bit sloppier than I’d like. Followed it with 3x8 squats at 397- this is going up each week. Set it lower a hair along with heavy squat. Then did some lighter Weighted pull ups for a few sets. And since hurting my leg I started adding in some conventional deadlift. I think this is my fourth week back doing them in 6 months or more. Managed 528x8. Was actually surprised, doing it after all the other stuff and still was ballparking a best with the weight. Going to continue doing them as long as they don’t interfere with my main lifts and could definitely see 700 by the end of the year. Considering I went from about 565x1-2 to 655x1 after about 2-3 months of training when I felt like last year.
The bar speed on those first few reps combined with that depth…god daymmmmmmmm
Awesome job, and love the fearless lifting after the quad injury.
Added my triples back into squat before the max set. Did 460 for 2 triples then a set of 11. This was rough, I actually yelled at one of my spotters cause he’s telling me one more while I’m telling him to help me into the rack.
You gotta love it when you are totally fked and the spotter says… ‘you got one more man easy’. You wanna say, ‘you think its easy you fkn do it kunce’ ![]()

Squats and pulls from the last few days. Where do you guys think my squat will be as I get closer to peaking. Im really thinking 600-605 could be there.
Are you hooking on the smooth?
Yea. As long as the bar is broken in and not oily I can hook it no problem. My last comp I dropped a 670 opener, but here is pretty much the same weight for a crappy 8 set hook.
Ive been messing with it some after transitioning over to hook about a month ago. tried on the smooth but felt like it was slippin. Im now using half on the knurl and half on the smooth. May try to push it out to the smooth again here in a couple weeks.
In my opinion it saves the thumbs from getting torn by the knurling. But you also need to have decent size hands to be able to hold it. I can grab my thumb with three fingers. I would say only people that are able to do that will be able to pull 650+ that way. I don’t think 2 fingers on the thumb will be good and not a chance for people that can only get one on the thumb.
I think i can get three fingers on the thumb. Just never thought to try it. Ill give that a shot after i do my mock meet.
Thanks
True form of hook grip is four fingers on the thumb.
Andre the giant over here
Bit mad at myself today. Squatted 465x10 and could’ve had one more but didn’t have any spotters and didn’t know if I’d be able to walk it back in after giving it everything I had. Followed it with some light deadlifts at 551 for 4s. Few max rep sets on Pullups. Planned to do some light conventional up to high 300s just for a set of 6 or so. Felt pretty good warming up and ended up with 405x15 beltless and wasn’t too bad at all. Some days my body doesn’t want to pull conventional other days it goes pretty smooth.
Reading this made me want to puke !! Nice work mate
Thanks
Rough squat day. Ended up with 470x9. Really wanted 10 but 8 and 9 slowed down a lot. I think my squat and deadlift are the strongest they’ve ever been i have just been feeling really beat up. I start to feel like I get the sciatic nerve pain under control then it flares up again.
That top set is always a mental killer.
Here have a token for a free light day.
Lol if only it was that easy
Couple recent lifts I recorded that might make their way here in a few days. 475x9 missed a 10th rep and 670x7 and barely missed locking an 8th. And a trash 305x8 bench. Shoulders and bicep pain have really hurt my bench but it seems to be starting to get better.
