1800+ Raw Total And 800+ Deadlift Drug Free 181 Class

Forgot how much cutting weight sucks. Mid day yesterday I was 192.5. Hit the sauna today at about 185.6lbs. In 2 hours in roughly 181.3-5, gave myself a small buffer for difference in scales. Feel pretty good. If my back holds up I might be happy with my total. Last meet was 1692 in wraps without a cut so 1700 would be awesome but anywhere in that range id be happy with.

Really disappointed with my total. Deadlift were just not on point. Squat and bench went great. Squat was 560 deep and just 8 lbs off my best comp squat in wraps. If I could’ve cut depth I would’ve had a few more lbs in there. Bench was 370. I didn’t know how my shoulder would feel but that actually moved well and maybe had 5 lbs in there that would’ve tied my best bench without a cut. Deadlift, just terrible. I grab the smooth and the deadlift bar was new and slippery. Opener 670 moved alright and dropped it at lockout. Had to move my hands out to the knurling which threw off my pull. Was planning 730 on a second but went 700 and got it. Since it wasn’t going my way my buddy making my calls put in 725 for a third. I changed it to 730 to put me third all time (ed coan isn’t on the open powerlifting as raw but he is number 1) just wasn’t there. 1630 took best lifter but not happy how it ended.

Haven’t been here in a long time. Anyone still wanting to follow my lifts, I do mostly Instagram for now. Gonna put up a video tomorrow (ig) of a 720x4 pull. Easy enough to hit 5 probably 6 but the fourth rep got away from me and was too heavy too roll back into position mid set. Also squatted 440x12 2 days ago for a 10lb pr for 12 reps

Dropped back to build up. Getting more volume and attempting to get up to 205 lbs while still being lean. Sitting at 195 now. In the last few days I squatted 410 for 3 sets of 10 and 1 of 9. Pause benched 370, pulled 640x8 with my legs just about dead from the squats. And benched 375 and 390 tng

Pulled 690x6 with hookgrip the other day. And squatted up to 540x2 about two weeks ago. Slowly gaining weight, about 195-196 in the evenings now. Benched 410 to a 3" block as well.

Sorry, long post. Well the following week after that 690x6 I was hunting every day and lost like 5lbs. I wouldn’t be hungry when I got out there then get by hungry shortly after and couldn’t eat till I got home. I shut my pulls down at 595x1 feeling weak as hell. Found two days later id be competing in a deadlift comp for my sponsor in a week. Didn’t want to leave off on a bad pull. Last Saturday (3 days later) I came in and pulled up to 705x1 decent. Comp was different, weight goes up and you jump in any time and keep going. Winner was done by lb for lb best. They used a rogue deadlift bar and uncalibrated plates. I jumped in at 585 to get a feel for the weight. Went 585, 605, 625, 650, 680, 715, and missed 750. Jumps are weird cause after 625 it was only me and one other kid pulling from about 20 guys. I could not get my feet planted and kept slipping. Idk if it’s the shoe or not. I have been thinking it may be time to try something more grippy if anyone had suggestions. I use asics now. With no feet slipping problems I have done 750 on calibrated plates in comp, 800 at the cage. Then recently at my wnpf meet the platform was also slippery and I missed 730 and now the 750 yesterday. I can’t get the same drive without worrying about losing my fitting. I need to drive down and out and for my 750 attempt I could only drive down and it really screwed me. O and I took lb for lb winner and had the heaviest pull by 65lbs with 715 but I am looking for opinions on shoes.

( Didn’t proof read if anything is f ed up)

I don’t know if this applies to sumo pullers, but I used these strength shop slippers at my meet this weekend and they were fantastic. Excellent traction on wood, but again I don’t know if they would withstand the outward pressure from a sumo pull. Might be worth looking into.

And congrats on the win man! Won it on a subpar day as well, beast. How did you end up getting sponsored?

Seems like a lot of people are going towards those Notorious Lifter shoe/slipper hybrids. Could check those out and see

Thanks. I would prefer a shoe though. I’m not a fan of the deadlift slipper. I like to train how I compete and would not like walking around and training in those things. The company is a local company and the owner knew me from when I went to this gym a few years back. When he made his company he asked me to be one of his lifters.

I Googled it but couldn’t find it. I’m not a fan of any type of slipper. I was actually looking into the sabo deadlift shoes

Haven’t tried the new sabos but I got the old ones. The grip probably isn’t as good as your asics (I think the wrestling shoes are like soft rubber) because it’s kinda hard and not tacky soles. It works but might not be better.

Notorious Lift have a proper vibram sole not just a layer of material, Lateral support, metatarsal straps and more. I think they won’t feel like the regular slippers at all. They shoes

Someone actually just brought up to me that maybe the rubber on the bottom has degraded over time. After they mentioned it I feel like I’ve heard something about that before. I may just need another pair. Shoes are maybe 2.5-3 years old
