Are you thinking of getting a DL bar too for the weights? Would probably be useful to be able to training with the kilo plates and DL bar in the run up to any meets you’re doing.
I already have one its in my gym. I was thinking about getting a stiff bar and a second deadlift bar for home. That way I could pull in the gym normal but pull at home as I get close to a comp.
Gotcha. I have a Texas power bar at home, i like it a lot but no noticeable difference to the Ohio bars we have at the gym

It’s tough because our contest events are at the whim of the promoters creativity/leisure. At nationals this year we had a side handle deadlift for reps @720 which is jokingly easy compared to a 720 barbell at any height. Still have to be well rounded at all forms of a deadlift.
Fortunately, if my sumo goes up, my conventional will as well without having to even train it. I know if I can pull 700 sumo I should have 650 conventional. Even still 650 is sub-par for a MW pro/am. At least we’re both good at other stuff…i think. Yeah…
Completely forgot what I said not too long ago and squated over 405. The good news is the pain seems to be going away as long as I do not use the belt at all. Really only bothers me when u lean over while sitting to put a sock or shoe on on the same side as the injury.

Had class yesterday. Got a lot going on right now but hopefully will keep up with some of the video clips. I am moving within the month to an awesome house going to setup a gym in the basement for when I’m short on time. There is a tested uspa meet coming up in April. It probably won’t go down there but if I’m confident enough I may go to attempt to take the deadlift record. More than likely will be at the end of the year with 800+
Posted a video on YouTube. Description explains it but basically tried out the figure 8 straps I just got today and they make my pull just feel terrible. Hit max reps with 495 and tied my best but it wasn’t hard. The regripping took away from my focus.

Unfortunately I found out the meet is not a tested meet. There was confusion between the guy running it and some other people and he posted it was tested then corrected himself. Little good news today. After a long work day I hit the gym about 8:00. Going to be a rough week at work coming up but pays off in bonuses so it works out. Managed to get the belt into this workout. Only the final squat single and every at on deadlift to see how my body would react. But for deadlift it was 2 notches looser than normal. Deadlift speed work at 625 moved acceptably well for a loose belt and being tired. Hit some light split squats and a few sets of ghr.
