1800+ Raw Total And 800+ Deadlift Drug Free 181 Class

Well, I was looking to set some goals for 2018 and I think I have my inspiration from the last set in your video.

“405 just messing around”

3 second pause squat ATG - I’m throwing that on my list !

Did some box squats for the first time today I’ve heard good things. Box was just below parallel. Definitely harder than I thought it’d be. Got my speed work in on deads, light dual cable rows, Back extensions and split squats and called it a day.

Box squat
135x8, 225x6, 315x6, 365x6, 405x6

Deadlift
245x6, 335x6, 445x3, 535x2, 625x6 singles about 40 seconds between singles

Back extensions - holding at the top
75x8, 125x8, 175x8

My split squats are complete shit. Holding 45s I did 3 sets of 10.

Id really like to focus on squat, if I could squat at least 600 I think id be in for a hell of a total

I like box squats to a box just above parallel as deadlift assistance where I use the same stance I do for deadlift. I picked them up from a George Leeman video a while back and also seen Brain Shaw doing them, Although would probably be difficult for you to get as wide as you do for your pulls!

Yea I was taking to one of my buddies about that. Squatting that wide hurts my hips but for some reason pulling is fine. I know I read about them for deadlift assistance but anyone having success with it for squatting? I’m trying to figure out if I want the box just below parallel or just above

I’m not surprised that hurts.

I personally dont like box squats as squat assistance but know a lot of guys do - I reckon below parallel makes more sense in that case.

I love that idea. Must add it to my training. Do you do it on leg day or deadlift day?

On deadlift day. I’m not currently pulling from the floor so I do the box squats (programmed as my main lift) and then block pulls from just below the knee afterwards.

Following Leeman’s program before I’ve also done them as a first exercise followed by deficit deadlifts, and then later in the program (when the weights get heavier) drop the box squats and start pulling from the floor - it was very effective for me.

Do you pause them or is it touch and go?

Paused to more closely replicate leg drive for a deadlift. You should check out the supertraining.tv YouTube episode with George Leeman, pretty sure he talks about it there

Its building. Going 675 max reps next week probably 5-6 then 725 the next and would like to hit a triple.

Interesting. Based on this log I’m guessing you’re hitting a top set on some bench variant and a squat or dl variant, and going home?

Most of the time I’ll also hit accessory work just had a few late days at work recently. But for squats and bench im going to start to drop the weight a hair to make it move faster and build back up.

It’s kinda hard to tell from here, are you using a split?
