Doing everything I can to get my back feeling good. It’s definitely going to take some time just not sure how long. And got the go ahead to go up to 202+ so I’m going to aim for 205 walk around weight. Hoping it’ll bring bench up pretty good too. Squat should fly
Forgot how much stronger I feel when I’m consistently grinding up and drinking oats. Bodyweight hasn’t responded yet but bench was moving pretty good today. I want to get to and hold my weight close to 205 and eye lifts along the lines of 650/402/826 in the longer time. (9 months to a year) honestly think squat would be the easiest to hit. It’s just been responding so well to legit coaching.
Going up. Bodyweight at 203 today. Starting to feel fuller and strength is slowing coming around.
Was 201 at the gym yesterday. Took 551 for top single on squat rpe6 and 512 for a back down set of 7 with 2 ish in the tank. Been dealing with it band pain lately but as long as I keep my feet at my usual narrow stance it doesn’t bother me too much. Find that out when I was a tiny bit wider and it killed on the bottom of the squat. Was 200.5 today and after getting some bench and accessories i felt like I looked bigger than I’ve ever looked. I’m looking forward to see how my body is at a steady 205. Shit going to get real interesting.
As a side note. Not sure if I’ve wrote it here but for about 9 months of the last year (got away from it briefly after my comp) I took a page from ssjbob and grind up quaker oats 2-4 cups a day. Morning and evening instead of all the take out I used to eat. Less calories and fat and more carbs. Strength gains come followed by mild weight gain which can be controlled by adjusting how many cups per day. Usually have some type of meat at night as well, steak or pork or something.
Just chipping away. Body weight is kind of taking its time going up cause I have a hard time getting up early enough to drink some oats. The few lbs in consistently up definitely show especially on today’s session. After bench and back I look bigger than I’ve ever looked. I’ll take that. Shoulders are taking a beating but bench is moving in the right direction.
Sitting about 199-200 with a push to around 202 after eating. Pulled a 735 Paused deadlift that moved better than I expected at rpe9 and benched a single at 361 that also moved better than expected. Rpe9 with another 5 lbs added. Really haven’t gained much weight get but strength is starting to rise. It band still giving me some shit on squat but squat is still doing ok.
Yer that is an understatement, it was speedy.
Rolling my adductor might be helping with the it band pain. Well see tomorrow. Heavy squat single and heavy set of 4
From my past above I squatted a 578 single and 538 set of 4 that day.
Since wed (Monday now) I have pulled a nice 740 rpe8-8.5 and squatted a single at 596 rpe9. Let’s see where the weights go in the next 2 weeks. Hoping to possibly hit something big across the board. Possibly my heaviest gym lifts total if all goes extremely well. Bodyweight is consistently at 198+. The day before I hit that squat I was 204. When I got home from the gym I was 198. Weight just sheds off of me.
Can not wait for PR CITY
Not quite a pr gym total. Heaviest total once every done in a day though. If I didn’t fold over on a squat back down set (560x3, hit the reps but last 1 felt trashy) last week I think I could’ve added a few lbs to today’s squat and deadlift. Top single on squat today was a 4 second grinder. Went squat, deadlift, bench numbers were 619/782/382 - 1783 at 195.5
Possibly more lower back work needed?
Just kind of bad bracing on the set. First 2 reps went well and I rushed the last one and it got me.
Candito told me a few weeks ago he was pretty much retiring from coaching so been on my own the last month or so. Keeping the same lift schedule but doing accessories I like and less volume. So far everything is going well. Recent lifts are 335 paused triple and a tng 4th rep, 750 deadlift double, and 541x5 squat. Keep saying I’m gonna gain weight but it goes up then comes back down. Going to really try over winter to get close to 210 with normal walking around weight in the 205-208 range. Not sure if I’ll try to compete in the drug tested American pro next year.
Took 561 on squat for a set of 4 yesterday. Not sure if I’ve ever hit that. I know i have done a set of 561x3 rpe9 in the past.
Got signed out of here. Was a pain getting signed in again. Recent lifts this week 554x4 squat, 336x4 bench, 705x4.5 sumo deadlift, and ramping conventional stiff bar up over the coming weeks. 475x12 this week. Best news is i think I’ve get my shoulder pain and knee pain figured out. More confident about the shoulder and may see into the 400s paused bench this year finally.
Good to see you back Vince - you got any comps lined up?
Gonna see how my lifting goes. If i feel I could go over 1800 I may try to get in the tested American pro. With knee and shoulder pain under control I do think into the 1800s is likely.
Bench is doing well. I’ve done a decent amount of bench accessory work this week and still pressed 378 today. Adjusted foot position a bit on deadlift toes pointing out more to see if this helps with my knee pain. If that solves the problem squat should start moving again. Deadlift felt ok but calves cramped on the second rep at 725 the other day. Ended with a triple.
Shoulder pain is figured out and now I know how to get rid of it within a day or 2 pretty much every time. Knee pain took longer to figure out but seems to be caused by the tear drop. Felt much better today. Everything seems very promising for my total going forward. I may end up changing my foot position back on deadlift if the tear drop fixes the knee.
