What is the current squat record at your school?
OP, there’s a reason this is a trope.
And not to be rude, but I doubt you would be able to hit your goal in your timeframe, even with assistance.
On the positive side, you have people who have given some really useful info and examples. Don’t blow them off.
I’m not really sure why this thread continues.
OP is a high school student who has 0 actual reason to use drugs other than a meaningless high school lifting record that will mean nothing once he is done with school.
@Christo9her
WTF would you want to mess up your hormones for this?
You have provided 0 bloodwork to support the need to use drugs at a young age.
It’s time to grow up and be an adult here. Put in the work. If you thought this was a good idea you wouldn’t be on here looking for validation.
You left out all the mental aspect of taking steroids before your brain is fully developed. And possibly stunting your growth, if you had any left.
You listed all these things you know but you didn’t say a thing about how you train, how long, how much progress you’ve made, what your goals are (i assume just to take some pics for TikTok). Are you huge for your age already and you want to go to the next level, or are you tiny and trying to catch up with all the other kids?
Choosing to BnC at 17 is … well, not smart.
Did you try to stay lean during the process or were you eating to progress in these lifts?
I did not leave out the mental aspects of taking gear when I addressed reduced fluid intelligence and psychological issues. I also did not leave out the growth part but my growth plates are already closed so I’m not growing anymore.
Also I did talk about my training, the duration, the progress and what my goals are. I addressed the training and duration in the main post and then I addressed the progress and goals in replies to another person.
I have always been accused of taking steroids anyways, I have good genetics. My brother won nationals in bodybuilding in my country when he was a year older than I am currently and was invited to worlds but he declined because bodybuilding wasn’t for him. My goals are to be strong, I am not here for aesthetic I am just blessed that I am pretty good aesthetically anyways. Also I don’t use any short form content so it’s not about posting on tik tok, I haven’t even looked at tik tok since I was 12 or 13.
No I am not trying to catch up to anyone, I am already far ahead of everyone in my year and well school for that matter. I am one of the only people in my school with the potential to set the new bench record for the school, I was told that by coaches. So that’s why I am aiming for it.
I was eating to progress. Heavier than I’ve ever eaten before
Without googling, do you know who Matt Poursoltani is?
Please believe what others have said. Having a HS record is not worth the risks.
When you’re adult who is aiming for all time bench WR in a untested federation, do what you must. But please for the love of all known deities. Your goal is not worth it!
Is that the power lifter that did some crazy bench like 500lbs or something in high school? I don’t remember exactly how much it was but yeah I’ve heard of him before. He was supposedly natural if I remember correctly but I don’t see how he possibly could be when he was that strong that young.
This seems the major focus in your life. Tell us something about how a school bench press record is made.
Is this an event, or do you just go to the coaches and tell them you are ready to attempt the school record?
I asked you what the rules were for the attempt. You have yet to address those. There are many powerlifting federations, all of which have very specific rules. Are any of those being used? Maybe you have no idea of the rules. How many attempts do you get? How much time are you allowed between attempts, especially if you must follow yourself?
Alright that’s fair. I’ll avoid it till I’m older.
The process is I get the coaches and tell them I’m ready to attempt it. They come and watch and I have to do 3 paused reps of a weight at least 5kg more than the current record. I have technically as many attempts as I want but if I fail 3 times in a row then I’ve got to try another time.
And you don’t have to use even then. Just think about, read about it and let the thought simmer.
Try 700lbs at 18.
The reason I ask is this, you had some vague recollection of his name and you were 200lbs off his record, and it was an absolutely insane feat of strength and you don’t really know his name and have no idea what he did. No one really cares about strength athletes outside of the sport.
You are no where near this level, no amount of drugs will get you near this level, whether he is natural or not he’s a genetic freak - you are above average, that’s it.
You might beat some record in your prestigious school, might get some invites back, people will remember what you used to be able to do. Like a few people might remember how strong Matt P is, no one actually cares, the actual long term benefits to your life will be negligible, the risks significant.
One thing no one has mentioned - tendons aren’t peak strength at 17 years old, drugs will strengthen your muscles but not your tendons, the rate of strength increase from supra-physiological hormones will put you at significantly higher likelihood of injury, which could end up with you not actually getting your record, or even lifting again.
Not sure anything will, you’re 17 and clearly pretty set on doing this, but maybe the above will be food for thought.
I didn’t mention OP’s tendon strength, mostly because he isn’t yet strong enough to tear himself apart. I would warn about pec ruptures if he were bench pressing over 400lbs (180kgs). Most all of the pec ruptures I have seen is when the weight gets above 400lbs. The exception that I saw was done with 335lbs (150kgs).
If OP does experience a drastic increase in strength he needs to take caution with shoulder injury. It is a poor strategy to attempt to push through the pain.
I used to have the single season pin record at my high school. I have no idea if it still stands or if it’s been broken in the 11 years since I graduated. My high school is no slouch in wrestling, Olympic Gold medalist Kendall Cross went to our school. The point is, that meant everything to me at the time and I don’t really know or care if I still have that record, my eyes are on my future and the here and now. I’m married and have a career. There are much bigger fish to fry
I’m really not set on doing this whatsoever. I am completely open minded to people’s words, why do you think I made the post?
Your guys attitudes toward teenagers questions really doesn’t help guide them in the right way, you guys just call teens dumb (whether or not they are can be up for debate) and say stuff like “your just going to do it anyway so go on”. How would calling someone dumb and saying that guide someone in the right direction? It forces them to retreat further into their decision and thought process.
So no, I’m not just going to do it anyways and I am taking the advice I was given with an open mind and have decided you guys are right, it’s not worth it.
Also I just want to say I am completely aware about tendon issues. Again, I understand exactly how these compounds work (whether or not you want to believe me bc I’m just a dumb teenager according to you guys), I know about the risk and I was still prepared to do them. I’m not anymore though because I’ve realised you guys are right and it’s not worth it.
