Impossible. As one poster two days ago told us, Steeve Reeves only got to 215lbs so I am doubting you are on the way to being as developed as he is.

Uploading is weird today. Anyways 18 inches before 2009 is my rhyme. Gotta get to it.

Thanks-- I appreciate that.
I’m seeing 40 years old not too far down the road so it’s an all out sprint to pack on whatever size I can while I still can. I can only speak for myself, but it has to be 5-6 days (on avg) at the gym with intensity. Daily gym time is the only thing in my schedule that is immutable. The food has to be there as well. I decided that quality mass was more important than ‘abz’ for the time being and I’m going with it.
In a way, I envy these younger guys and the potential that’s there because of the mistakes I made in my early 20’s (prime growth time).
I maintain that if an old fuck like me in his late 30’s can put size on, then anyone (ie the young ones) on this site with some ambition, common sense, and access to hamburger meat and chicken should be morphing into monsters before our eyes.

I’m telling you X, the IQ of the average person on T-Nation is rapidly falling. I mean know where I’m going and God willing, I’m confident enought to say I’ll get there. I know that the person who said that about Steve Reeves will probably quit lifting in a few months because limiting yourself to a set standard is a sure way to achieve failure.

Awesome progress. Kudos, for leading the youngbloods by example.

Thanks man you too bro. 2.75 inches in that amount of time is very very good progress.
Are these the only guys with arms over 17" on this site?

no sir. 17.5" at a body weight of ~200lbs.
apologies for poor picture quality/lighting. taking a pic using the timer on my computer ain’t too easy lol
That’s three people who have 90% of the other people on this site beat apparently.
You forgot to include yourself! That’s 4

I know your a big bencher, and that certainly is good for triceps mass, but I’ve found over DB extensions, skull crushers, reverse grip presses, and close grip presses to be my best tricep builders. (Those were in no particular order)[/quote]
Ah yes, Reverse bench has given me more tri mass than any other exercise. I’m sitting just below 17" and have not trained Bis in a few months. I need to focus on arms as a project/goal and see what size I can hit.
I like to do multiple heavy sets (4-6 each) at low reps (3-6) after my warmups.
My arm workouts typically look something like:
Close grip bench SS with preacher curls
Hammer curls SS with dips
in the set/rep scheme mentioned above

On a site like this, I would expect for us to be able to fill an entire thread with people who have at least achieved that measurement, especially if they’ve been lifting for more than 5 years.
It sure is quiet.

Hence my reluctance to post with any regularity

Not to retract too much on the thread, but I always wondered what happens to that poor dog. You know?
Good job man, I’m 17 too. I’m told my arms are good size, but they’re still no 17’s.
Count me in the 17-inch club (about 1/8 over cold).
Closing in on two years training at the end of '08.
Awesome work so far Austin and BlueJ.
18",… (at least before my current drop in cals -lol.)
What worked best for me? Heavy Benches and BB rows. My arm work over the years has been pretty minimal. Certainly not banging away with heavy compounds like you would think. In fact, my fav exercises have been inc db curls, 1 arm non support con curls, rope pressdowns, and db skull crushers on a decline bench.
Just goes to show how hitting the large bodyparts (back and chest) hard and heavy will make everything grow.

I’m pretty sure I’m going to hit 17" by new year’s.

For some maybe, but I think we’ve seen enough people get nowhere with that.
Do you feel benching or rowing a lot in your arms?

Well, here’s the downside to having my arms respond well,… my chest didn’t. I’m fairly certain that I was naturally an arm-bencher for years. Eventually, I learned how to bench properly, and even focus on a more well rounded program instead of just banging on the flat each session. Do I use compounds for my arms? Sure, but if I do Barbell curls, I’ll do them last, and I don’t need to put the 45 lb plates on each side of the bar, by this point two quarters work just fine. Nice slow negative, non lockout movement, leaning back against a wall to avoid swinging…
I’m not bashing compounds at all, in fact, that’s what I would prescribe to most folks. However young trainers who focus so much on their arms, yet allow their torso to look almost skeletal,… are doing themselve’s a disservice, and would make better gains with an overall mass program.
