17 Inch Arms

Mine are a touch over 18 cold, like 18 1/4, I’ve always had more success with tri size than my bi’s, If i could ever get my biceps to respond as good i think I could make a run for 20 heh heh. These are recent I just started back lifting after about a year layoff.

I started lifting at 14 probably 135lbs (prolly too young really) and was serious by 15 and have been on and off for 17 years. I’ve always lifted natural, and ive always kept my size for the most part even on layoffs for injuries, work, etc., I’m planning on trying to cut down to 205, so i’ll post again if/when i get there.

Somewhat, used the timer on my work phone and tried to throw it up before it went off heh, I know I have alot of work to do, been off around a year due to a shoulder injury. I’ll post some better pics when I can.

Edit: still a crappy cell phone pic, but all i got atm

Thats that whole genetics thing… Its a bitch, unless its on your side.

17.6 inch, gunning for 18 by september 10

alright genetics is cool n all…but still he’s 160+lbs. with 16 inch arms. I’m 205+, 5’9 (so 2 inches taller) but weigh much more…have good development in my biceps but they are only i think 16.5 or 16.75 i think right arm and left arm 16.25
I doubt he’s closin in on 405 bench or can do BB curls with 135?
This is what confuses me.
I have a pretty good peak on my biceps…perhaps I’ll get a pic in tomorrow to show you.

well fuckin shit christ man this thread just bummed me the fuck out. i did many of Chad Waterbury’s routines for the first couple of years i lifted, not the best for arm development. i think i was up to 16" before i hurt my back, but now am back down to 15".

i just started doing direct arm work in the last month, so i am hoping to god that this, along with my diet, i will put some much needed size on my arms. the rest of my body has grown exponentially. i hope i can rightly fit in this page by the end of the year!

Yep… It sucks ass when you arent on the right end of it. Look at guys like Frank Zane, who had 18 inch arms at a contest weight of 180. I will probably have to weigh a lean 225-240 to have 18 inch arms. Look at Stan McQuay, low body weight and full, large muscle bellies.

They are literally just bigger at certain body weights, strength or not.

Interesting as well, some of the people posting pictures here (even some of the 17 and 18 inch pics) dont look nearly as impressive as other shots of arms of similar measurement or smaller that I have seen…

Guess my update to last post did not upload pic, still a crappy cell phone pic, but with better light.

Honestly, by reading the articles on this website I have grown less than i ever have. the authors of some of these articles just dont give good advise for me when it comes to bodybuilding. I have tried a few routines from some of the authors on here and I got minimal results. Most of them are so freaking complicated (Thibs) or just not enough for max hypertrophy (Nate Green). I mean some of these guys say to leave out isolation excercises all together…WTF? I have learned more from Pro X and some of the other vets on here than anyone, thanks again guys. Anyways i went back to my old split (chest/tris- back/bi’s, etc.) 4 days a week and have been growing like a weed again. For my body type I have to go with higher reps i.e 10-12 and super high intensity, I throw in super sets and drop sets after some heavier compound lifts. But my arms are 16.5 unpumped and I will quit talking now because I am no longer allowed in this thread until I get to 17’.

The only time I did a program off of herre was when I first started. I did TBT I actually did get great results from it. But it’s because I worked my fuckin ass off.
I was squatting 2x a week HEAVY…One day 3x5 reps, the other day 3x15 reps. Each week the set would be bumped up on. In reality my friend and me would go all out to the first set and then lower for the other sets with the prescribed rest periods.
Same thing for benches, bent over rows, pull ups etc.
We went all out…major compound movements…and we did BB curls 2x a week, skull crushers.
acutally very similiar to the BBB program I’m doin now.

It was a complete program and it actually worked wonders for strength and size. Then again I remember puking a couple times in my HS gym from it. Great times.

As for genetics…I know this is a bodybuilding forum and I’ll get ragged on for this…but to have some massive 18 inch arms and not be able to hold the strength for them is kinda silly in MY opinion. It just reminds me of that spongebob square pants episode when he gets inflatable arms and then does a competeion and can’t lift shit.
I KNOW bodybuilders are strong. In general to be big you gotta be pretty damn strong. But to me you should have some pretty damn good strength in those arms…again it’s my opinion…most of you will shit on it so save your energy lol.

LASTLY that’s true Lonnie123…I actually don’t even know if some ppl on here posting about 17inch arms…have 17 inch arms…they just look a lot smaller then what I’ve seen except for that one dude.
Perhaps they just have quite a bit of fat on their arms so the 17’s don’t look as impressive. Of course a very very lean 16 inch arm would look much more impressive than a 17.5 inch arm havin more fat…and probably would look bigger too.

Anyways that’s all I wanted to say.

Rasturai… Its a combo of fat arms and genetic look. Look at the “Levrone is back” thread… His arms were 17 when he started off his transformation, and now at 18 they look MUCH better than anyones on this thread do. Its just an interesting phenomenon.

Are you serious? Who have you seen with legit arms over 18" lean enough to actually see the biceps and triceps where they were weak? Can you show me even one example of a weak truly muscular 18" arm?

If you can’t see any delineation between the biceps muscle and the triceps, then the measurement is not legit.

HOWEVER, most guys are going to have to be at least a little soft some of the time in order to get their arms that big naturally in the first place. You work on definition after the mass is built. This is why most of those more worried about definition before they ever build the size never build it.

That is why we don’t just jump in and insult someone simply because they don’t have much definition right now. You save that for those who still have the same sized smooth arm years from now. You don’t do that to the guy who has smooth arms…but gains 2-3 inches on them without gaining much more body fat at all. All he has to do is diet down from that point.

You say your 255? No offense but I call BS if you were youd be pretty developed and be flaunting pictures on your page, instead your braging about your 17 inch fat bicep. I got 17in+ biceps and im only 5"9

Wow, this thread won’t die; I remember it from last year. I know I’m up over 17.5" now, because that was where I was in March or so, and I’m a bit heavier now.

Alright Prof. that’s true you make a valid point. Your right that I haven’t ever seen a big guy with 18" muscular arms being weak. Never have and I don’t think I ever will. I was talking more along the lines of the guys with 17 inch arms who are at a low bodyweight and dont’ have much strength to back it up. I HAVE seen this.
I’ve also seen big guys have 18-19" inch arms that are fat and weak. But they say they got 19 inch guns…and to have that arm size they don’t hold the strength to back up that 18-19" arm. And I am just not impressed.
BUT this sentence you made has cleared it up for me
“If you can’t see any delineation between the biceps muscle and the triceps, then the measurement is not legit.”
Thanks for clearin that up for me.

oh and patricio good job with the progress…your lookin big and actually look like you have 17.5 arms…
i think prof x. was right when some people let that tape measure sag a little lol

unless hes 15 or 16 your WEAK

Lolz,

Your profile says your 5’7 first off. You have a pic of you and some chik and she is fucking bigger than your guido self lol. I guess she wears the pants.

You also are 185 at 20% Bodyfat.

If you have 17s at 5’7 at 185 you’d look like Franks Zane so let’s see your pics.

You’ve been training for sixteen years, and 1 of those years was “educated training.” That’s the biggest joke of them all. Probably can’t even bench a solid 250 and I wouldn’t be surprised if you don’t train legs either.

Anyways I’m 6’2, this thread is over a year old. My biceps are over 18 inches I’m probably like 220 in those other pics. I’ve proven myself enough times on this site through youtube and other pictures and I’m sure as hell not going to worry about proving myself to you faggot.
