Actually, my left upper arm is about 18 3/4", but let’s ignore that
Pics in my performance photo thread.
Any isolation work I perform for my arms is extremely rare and sporadic, simply because they don’t seem to need it - not because some trainer has told me not to. Saying that however, I have been at 19" for a few months now so I suppose I will start adding in regular isolation work.
yeah that other thread had me thinking of this one too. I’m up 1/4 inch from January with no increase in weight and a decrease in waist line. A.D. BABY!

haha I was just thinking about this thread. Nice bump.
My arms are up two inches from one year ago - 16 to 18, after gaining 46lb.
Good job!
Now, onto 20.
aww, can’t I “aimHigh” and only shoot for 19?? lol
hahaha. It’s hilarious, I don’t know if you saw this yet but he posted in the steroid forum asking for Havoc advice, it made me lol after reading his arm thread.
Well while I’m sure this is disputed, many people say that Arnold’s arms were ‘only’ 19 inches and not over 20. Now we’re talking about a genetically gifted guy who took anabolics so I don’t see how a genetically average guy @ 8% Body Fat can easily get over 18 inches naturally. I think the body fat percentage for drug free trainers is important here - 17 inches at 5 9’ and 190lbs and 8% is damn good for the average recreational bodybuilder - 17 inches @ 20% is a different ball game. So many people think they are 10% and they are about 15%!
Seeing as it’s apparently pretty easy to get drug free arms of 18 inches, then why the heck does anyone bother taking steroids? I mean, if a genetically average guy can get to 18 without too much trouble, then someone really blessed could easily get 22 without assistance.

Your comment about body fat applies directly to me. I am still VERY far from getting a six-pack and I realize that my arm measurement will continue to go down further.
Everyone is different. My youngest brother has 6.25" wrists, and if he had 17" arms at 8% (5’11") they would look HUGE. I have 7" wrists and 17" at 8% (assuming that I had those measurements) would look barely above average - like I MAYBE worked out with weights. (Will know for sure hopefully in 6-8 more weeks of dieting).
i agree with stu in that my arms take over when i bench. oh well.
just found this thread. glad to see some guys out there with some decent size.
i think i remember reading somewhere that your max arm circumfrenece was your wrist plus 10’'.
wonder how true that is.
Not true at all? I don’t think there are many dudes out there with 10" wrists
Come to my gym because many (but not all) of the Polynesian guys I train with have wrists the size of my forearms (well almost) LOL:) Their wrists are pretty well proportioned to the rest of their body being that they are usually 300+ pounds.

which is probably why you don’t see to many 20" (muscular) arms.
the wording of my sentence may be off, but i’m pretty confident there is a correlation between wrist circumfrenece and the ability to add a certain amount of size to your arm.

You mean like tons of speculation and bullshit? Then YES.
In general, if you can build 18" arms naturally within less than 5 years of training, you have good genetics for bodybuilding. The average person can not build 18" muscular arms. Some people apparently can’t get much past 17" from what I’ve read around here.
