165ers

You guys posting your lifting numbers at 165 weight, what’s your height? Seems like that would make a difference.

When I was in college I benched (touch and go) 265 at 6’3" and 165lbs.

18 years later and I’m back up to 265, but at 190lbs (still 6’3" ; ^ ).

I’m 5’7 165, only 17 though so hopefully that gives me an excuse to be a bit weaker than y’all … but it really doesn’t
Bench- 255
Squat- 415
DL- 425x7 sumo, haven’t done a single for awhile
All lifts are gym, never done a competition yet
Bench is my achilles heal, can’t seem to get it to go up for months at a time, thinking its maybe a weak upper back?

Is it just me or do 165ers seem to either have really strong sq/dl or good bps not usually both, maybe its just me but it seems that way lol.

I agree with you, in a lot of threads I will see guys whose BP puts mine to shame yet my sq/dl will be a fair amount larger than theirs

That’s what I’ve observed as well, on average.

I could bench 265 at 165 and 6’3". I only weighed 165 because aside from my shoulders and chest, the rest of my body was super skinny. I think I was only able to squat ~225 lbs at the time.

The 165ers tend to be overdeveloped in one area and under developed everywhere else, either as a part of their genetics, or through an unbalanced lifting routine.

A veteran powerlifter told me, it’s rare to be really good in all 3 lifts. There is usually one that lags behind.
