"I don’t know about Dunk but I had invited Toby to Gold’s in C’burg. I was curious b/c he lives close by and if he is legit he is a possible future HOF’er in powerlifting world. I could say I met this kid when… So I went to the Y in Chambersburg, I was surprised it was a really nice YMCA.

Anyway, I was very disappointed to find out no one had heard of the 15 y/o bench phenom Toby Cook. Obvioulsy he has an ego b/c he posted the vid. You would think he would be amazing the people at the Y with his bench, I would be. I still sorta believe but I am begining to wonder. I do not think it is all that unbelievable.

I just would like to see it. Even if he only gets 340-350 solid and misses 370 I will be impressed as hell. Anyway, my offer still stands I will pay for the day pass to Gold’s or show up at the Y."

What is surreal is this kid can probably out-bench you and yours.

Nobody buys your “moral concern” standpoint. Only false-talking cops.

Some guy over at BB referred this stuff to snopes.org. Comments?

Yeah, apparently some guy over at BB.com has sand in his vagina.

Gee whiz, some kid can bench a hell of a lot, and some crazies are doing everything but hiring a Private Investigator to see if it’s real.

Why they don’t just give the kid his props and move on down the road is beyond me.

I’d say because of pride maybe. One wants to be the greatest. I’m 17 and have benched 325 pause at a comp. in the 198 division. No shirt, wrist wraps or anything. Just raw.

It’s pretty damn impressive if you ask me lol. He said he has been wokrin on his bench for 3 years, I do believe he can do it, and if he can I could maybe even learn something from him

Maybe, just MAYBE the kid doesn’t care about records and lifts cos he loves it.

Who are we to say that’s wrong?

Since when has it all been about records?[/quote]

Best post of the entire thread.

Very true. As i said previously, a raw paused bench will be a good 30 pounds or so lighter. All of a sudden he can’t lift what my old buddy Marty Taylor did in high school. He’s a guy I witnessed at PSU in 85 do a raw 405 pound bench at 165. Marty was also drug free, btw.

You people really need to get around some strong guys and lift and stop using tampax. There is a whole world of strong out there that you fellows are missing.

I corrected Marty’s lift, BTW. I had typed 165, when it should ahve been 405.

I think you meant 365 not 165 just pointing it out.

Hahahaha, actually I meant a raw 405, which Marty did in a sanctioned meet. I also saw a guy who did a raw 375 at 148 in front of my eyes at our bench meet that year. I was the head referee, btw. this fellow went on to do a raw 415, one of the best ever, at 148.

These fellows were about 21 or so, but to me it’s not out of the realm of possibility that a teenager in the 181s would do such a weight.

Rich Wenner won multiple USPF, IPF, and ADFPA titles and was handling mid 300s raw in his late teenage years at 181. Rich was another buddy of mine from the Hazleton area.

Big lifts are possible, raw, and drug free. You people need to get around some strong people and see what happens.

I wholeheartedly agree. I think the problem is most of the people commenting only train in commercial gyms. When you train in a powerlifting gym it’s a completly different ball game. You get your ass handed to you very quickly no matter how strong you think you are.

There really is a whole world of strong out there that people have no idea about.

The kid’s got a 370 lb bench but he uses an Ab Lounge?
