Found this the other day and I thought it was pretty cool and insightful.
14. Allow their behavior to be influenced by lists on the Internet.

15. Make stupid lists like this in the first place. If you were mentally strong you wouldn’t need a list, you would have it memorized.
What’s ‘‘stupid’’ about the list greggy?
Pick one of the 13 and enlighten us why it’s ''stupid" will ya?
And what’s this horseshit about ''memorizing" the list…What, you expected Forbes
to communicate this list to us by telepathy?
It’s not about ‘‘memorizing’’ anything you sanctimonious bore, it’s about what
Mentally strong people don’t do…they don’t need to ‘memorize’ anything that’s
already part of their being.
I liked it. Nothing really new, but a nice reinforcement.
Thanks for sharing ![]()

This doesn’t seem like a post that a mentally strong person would write.
Go re read the link a few times.

I always liked:
When you feel fear, head towards it. Average people turn away. This is what it takes to not be average.

So confusing. So I guess my love letters went to the wrong guy. oops
Do you guys think there is an innate mental strength people are born with? I guess that is a confusing way of putting it, but maybe people are born with certain personalities that are more conducive to having a stronger mental state.
Either way, a good chunk of it depends on your experiences growing up, your career, and so on.

Absolutely. They’ve identified innate traits that make certain people more resilient than others, which is why some people/kids come through hell completely intact and can go on to do great things, while others are crushed or warped. Traits include intelligence, ability to find humor in situations, personality that draws and connects others upon whom the less advantaged can model themselves, flexibility, integrity, and so on.
Many of these traits can be fostered by articles like the above. Learned optimism, learned resiliency.
