1001 HP Bugatti Veyron

Cintpatty which Subaru are talking about, I know the STi is a very nice car and probably the best 4cyl out there but I still haven’t seen one on the road, hell its much faster and way cheaper than the NSX. By the way they dont make muscle cars anymore. Muscle Cars where midsized cars w/large engines and a back seat big enough for adults. So te Viper doesnt count. Also compareing the Cobra to the Camaro Zl-1 is apples to apples the phase 1&2 werent much more in price. But compareing a 2002 Camaro SS to a 2003 Cobra isnt the same since there is no 03 Camaro. Who’s going to be in ith me when the new C6 Corvette ZO6 comes out 500hp and 2800lbs (target)

MrSS, Subaru engines in general have very good low end, but yes, I think the DOHC 2.5 the STi uses is the best. Subaru engines are popular for dune buggies and other offroad vehicles for their low end for the weight. I’ll take my Vette AWD Lingenfelter style.

MrSS402: my mistake, the article was with the 02 Camaro and it was in a Mustang mag. Here is the link: http://www.musclemustangfastfords.com/features/0208mmff_deathmatch/.

The Cobra has buried the Firebird and Camaro and now has the Vette in sight. The Vette still edges out the Cobra in performance, but it better for 18 grand more.

Well for you guys who talk hate this do you Cuda well my profession is an Automotive Tech. Oh that meens I know a little when it comes to junk i.e ford yep. Ok as far as bad child hood exp. only good american is old american muscle. Like my HemiCuda and my goat or for someof you my GTO. IF you look closely at some of this new styling its all taken from German or Jap cars. And if I want to race I must admit I have 1/4 mile mustang yeap I said it a mustang but its cool used to be able to build a ford motor cheaper than a chevy but not true anymore my motor about 25,000 true track car tubed caged whole 9 yards but I would never drive a stock mustang I just think the look cheap. Yeah lets buy a $50,000 dollar mustang with out being able to test drive it no radio and no back seat with a plastic Dash wooooo no thanks engine displacement not size.
Sorry for knocking you guys for what you Drive and what you like we all have diff. taste.
TheCuda drive it like you stole it!!!

Cuda when could you build a ford motor cheaper than a chevy?

I could forsee you mentioning the 5.0L HO mustang vs the shitty TPI motors the gm’s had in the 80’s being cheaper, but before and after that I wouldnt agree.

Only problem ford has really had in many years has been displacement. They stuck with the little 5.0L (and then went down to 4.6L) while chevy was always sticking with the 5.7. And, as we all know, it’s hard to overcome the torque difference you get with displacement.

And nothing is more buildable than a chevy small block, not for power per dollar at least.

I’m also a wrench, and have had about 25 cars now in my life. Many different makes, and only a few lemons in the bunch. I think all makers have made lemons, and some have made some truly decent cars (for their purpose).
I had a full size '88 mercury (grand marquis) with the 5.0L and I dare say it was the best car I had for miles per dollar. By far. NEVER broke down, I had it for 250k miles and still had untouched original engine, tranny, rear end, springs… Only things I ever touched were normal oil/tranny/coolant changes, brakes every 50k or so, belt & plugs twice, air filter (went to k&n so only once), tires, heater core once (yeah that sucked), shocks once, converted ac to r134, and exhaust once. Damn cheap car to operate, and held alignment for years, towed my sleds fine, even withstood a couple of accidents (head on at 50 broadside into another car, plus hit some deer, and many minor bumper testers).
I was the type who would buy cars cheap at 100k+ and drive them to 200k then sell them for more than original purchase. I got sick of driving old crap though and with 3 kids really had no choice but minivan anymore, and we all know that the older model mini’s (1 generation and some 2nd ones )were all shit in terms of reliability, be it trannies, rust, or worthless engines.

Mustangs i would agree went through some bad times in mid 70’s, also early 80’s (pre fuel inj) had some issues, but hell look at gm’s during those years and you cant say much better for sure. tpi’s all had those shitty injectors that would short out, and the emission regs really messed up all manufacturers quite a bit.

Anti was talking about race engines small block 400’s so on forged pistons all the good stuff I know its not the case anymore. But you want to talk about boats, I had a 66 plymfury with the camando 383 big block with 26k orig miles not that was a boat but fun to drive little mods board over .30 exhaust high rise edalbrock intake it was fun and fast for the size. I am not saing that there is a good make out there cause if there was we would be out of a job. As far as GM goes well I work for Saab and they have to be one of the biggest pos out there, specialy after coming form Lexus big change but the pay per flat rate is worth it… Job security !!!

Antiliberal, what about a wagon?

Clintpatty, I assume you are referring to kids in a wagon?

If so, here is the killer. My kids are 9 months, 3 and 4… So all in car seats still, meaning you have to have 2 rows of seats in back for them. some wagons have those 3rd rows which are like a pit in the floor, but it’s not at all convenient for a carseat, not to mention too far back and facing the wrong way to deal with the child (ie cups, food…)

I’ve put all 3 seats in a car from time to time, but most cars arent quite wide enough to fit em 3 across.

So yeah, im stuck with a minivan. Least I only drive it when taking kids places, otherwise my wife uses it. I drive my full size truck at other times. The camaro just sits in the back garage waiting for me to work on it some more.

Remember the following words of wisdom from Mrs. Doubtfire:

They say that a man who needs a car that big is compensating for smaller genitals.

Scrub - I’m with you on that new Mustang. I like the retro look they gave it.

MIKE THE BEAR: We have a Corvette guy who puts a 100$ challenge bet on the Big Corvette, Small Dick to whomever says it in his presence. Never seen the size of his engine (don`t care either), but if he says it helps with the car payments, he must be above average. Brilliant spin.
