10 Miles Back Again

Which Ab did you target

Still very much a one pack, so i figure singular is more accurate.

Work for today:

45mins running/burpees at a local field and exploring a few trails nearby.

Feels weird calling most of my sessions ā€œworkā€ these days, as they’re mostly fun.

Work for this morning:

Upper back warm up

Bench:
5 x 60kg
5 x 62.5kg
5 x 10 @ 50kg

JM press: some
Rear delt partial flys: some
Y-raises: some
Cable flies: some

Notes:

  • Bench work is still crazy easy. Keep having Wendlers voice in my head saying ā€œyou’d be amazed how light we train, Daveā€ and stories of trainees going 4 years without ever resetting TMs and it paints a very pretty picture. A ā€œlifetime bench in a yearā€ kind of picture, so i’m going to do my best to trust the process and follow through.

Was meant to be a walk, got bored and started running.

Work for tonight:

20mins run in the sun.

It was very difficult this arvo. Struggling with some kind of chest infection, i think.

Work for this morning:

1.5 hours bouldering

Really hard work this morning. Not sure if its the heat, the chest infection or having lots of carbs before climbing, but this was hard, hard work.

Work for last night:
Random ab circuit

Didn’t log last night because it was just an ab circuit

Work for this morning:

Upper back warm up

Press (ss. Pull ups): worked up to 60kg x 2

Bench (ss. Cable rows):
5 x 50kg
5 x 60kg
5 x 65kg
5 x 10 @ 50kg

Y-raises: some
Cable raises: some

Notes:

  • Decided to see where i was at with pressing at the minute. Not impressed with the results. Will think on solutions for a low volume, high intensity program to tag on the start of this session regularly, can’t let press slip this bad.

Got a lot of climbing done, and finished some tough projects. Good times.

Work for today:

Upper back warm up

Press:
3 x 1 @ 60kg

Bench (ss. Cable rows or pulldowns):
5 x 50kg
5 x 60kg
5 x 67.5kg
5 x 10 @ 50kg

Press:
5 x 5 @ 50kg

Cable raises: some

Notes:

  • Getting a lot of issues with elbows that limits what back exercises i can sensibly do, which is fine because climbing takes care of a lot of volume there anyway.
  • I’ve discovered that i’m allergic to running. Knees had been terrible for weeks, so i cut running out , gave it time to heal and hey presto, knees feel fine. I feel like i learned this before somewhen.
  • i’m not even going to log ab work anymore unless i include it as part of a bigger workout. Because its boring and i forget most of the time anyway. Just assume i’m doing various ab circuits 5 days a week, ish.
  • Found @Ecchastang log the other day, which is an absolute gold mine for me in terms of how people who look awesome and climb well train. Guy was (and probably still is), an absolute beast and one of the main reasons i stuck around on T-Nation all those years ago.

This may well be an allergy…but on the off chance its not…do you tend to land more on your heel with your body behind your landing foot? So like an overstide?

I have (or had as now much better) pretty troublesome knees whilst running. But shortening my stride, landing midfoot to front foot, with a sligtly forward lean so landing foot is under body has pretty much solved the problem. Not running is also a very acceptable soloution too. Lol.

@kd13 I’ve never put any thought into how i’m running beyond ā€œone foot in front of the otherā€, you might be right.

Work for this arvo:
EMOM for 20mins:
3 x 50kg clean and press

Hot and sweaty work this arvo. Can’t say i enjoyed it.

Fun for this evening:

2 hours bouldering.

Slow pace, nothing too challenging. New set on the comp wall, but unfortunately they’d turned the gravity up today so i just smashed through the easy ones whenever i could get near the wall.

interesting… would you like me to get some physics to fix this?

I think a dietician might do a better job.
