10 Miles Back Again

We went to the Eastbourne one, its the closest one to us. It was a work thing, so obviously i had to win, but i also had to make it look like i wasn’t getting competitive or showing off.

Its good isn’t it.

I went to the one closet to me. I managed “some” of the course. I got stuck o the bit where body weight became is issue. Normally because of momentum. I can do a few pull ups - but when you’re 115kg trying to get myself swinging enough to make a jump is hard.

Sorry to hear about the housing situ, if you want to head down Cornwall and enjoy a higher cost and lower standards of living, with poor socio-economic outlook and commensurate aspirations amongst the population - let me know!

100 presses in 30 mins is the baseline then? I’ll clean the first but not every rep, but kudos to you for doing it.

@carlbm I really enjoy it, and it was good fun sharing it with other people as well.

I can do the courses, but the Eastbourne one is pretty tame. I suspect i’d struggle with some of the larger centres. It’s also come as a reminder that although i’m still stronger than average, i’m a lot fatter and weaker than i feel i should be.

@alex_uk I live in Brighton area mate. You’re not going to find many more expensive places. For a 2 bedroom we’ll be lucky to find anywhere much under £1500 a month. It’s a price i have to pay because i’ve learned from experience that moving my better half away from here makes her miserable.

Ah that sucks, depends where in Cornwall, but that’s not dissimilar but with significantly hampered earning potential (Truro is the third least affordable place to live in the UK - Cornwall Live). But good on you for getting the priorities right, assuming buying is off the cards?

With that timescale? Absolutely, yes.

Sorry to hear about the housing situation my man

Only positive from this is the growth induced by the activation of dad mode. You’ll get through it mate. We always do

Sympathies for the family housing situation, hope it turns into a blessing. Those things sometimes do.
Congratulations on the C&P session, thats inspirational.
Finally, i noticed the daily swings. What a great habit to have.

@ChongLordUno we’ll be fine mate. Thanks for stopping by

@jdm135 Thanks man. I’m planning to turn those daily swings into an Easy Strength session 5 days a week. Should set me up pretty well for a while.

Work for today:
30 mins run

Notes:

  • Clearly haven’t been doing enough cardio since Christmas, this sucked super hard. Definitely a big step back from where i was.
  • Definitely getting the urge to climb back. Will look to get back to that once things settle down.

Work for today:

Kb SLDL:
5 x 15

Notes:

  • hamstrings still not happy, so switched to slower, more controlled movement to flush blood without the risk of heavy weights or explosive movement.

Work for today:
Easy Strength day 1:
Swings
SLDL
WGPU
Dips
HLRs

Notes:

  • Still super, super sore in lots of places, will have to break the foam roller out. Definitely something to keep in mind when i start climbing again.
  • Also worth noting, i’m far less hamstring dominant than i was last time i did any serious deadlifting, which is having knock on effects on my technique.

This, except day 2.

Still insanely sore everywhere, including places i haven’t really trained for a while. Not sure what’s going on there.

2 work outs a day? How dedicated of you!

@carlbm none of it very difficult though. I have a plan though, and i like to stick with it.

Work for today:
Squat:
5 x 5 @ 100kg

Press:
5 x 5 @ 60kg

Notes:

  • Quick, easy strength work
  • Sore and weak everywhere.

Yeah I get you. But by simply being active 2 times a day I think you’ll see changes over time.

I won’t always be on 2 a days, i’m not planning 2 today, but there aren’t enough days in the week to only train once on each.
