10 Miles Back Again

Now do this, but the running distances are 100m x whatever number is next in the sequence.

Edit: Damn, I really wanna try this now.

@T3hPwnisher appreciated man. I have a very sick brain sometimes. I’ve made it inside and been politely told I look like death, so I guess I did something right?

@kdjohn I don’t know if that would be better or worse, 800m is a long plod back to recover. Either way, I don’t want to try it find out.

I’ve got a deload this weekend. I’ll do it and report back.

How would Juarez Valley work with different exercises? Would they both follow the 8-1-7-2-etc wave progression, or would it be 8 squats, then 100m run, then 7 squats, then 200m run, etc etc?

The original Juarez Valley was doing an exercise, walking the distance of your prison cell to the other side, and then doing the exercise again. It was to create a very brief rest period. It’s why I stick with a fixed amount of burpees in between: keeps the rest period semi-consistent.

I’ve run workouts that were concurrent Juarez Valley though. I did thrusters and burpees where I’d do 21 thrusters, 3 burpees, 18 thrusters, 6 burpees, etc until you end up at 3 thrusters and 21 burpees. That’s actually similar to the ā€œBlackJackā€ workout Jamie Lewis has written about: 20 chins, 1 dip, 19 chins, 2 dips, etc, combined numbers always equaling 21.

So you decided to take a workout and do burpees where the prisoners should be having ā€˜active rest’

PwnWorld. A world where burpees are considered active rest

No wonder I haven’t heard from my client in a week

You sick sick bastard

I agree with @T3hPwnisher, if you mix up the distance too much both in terms of running it and rest periods from the walk back, you lose the intent. I also think you’d lose the benefit of the ā€œLitvinovā€ aspect because you’re no longer going from a grind to a sprint unless you really are in absurdly good condition.

I like the idea of the blackjack style though, as a more cardio focused session, especially with a treadmill.

I just realized how insane ā€œLitvinov Blackjackā€ would be. You’d end up doing a STUPID amount of running.

I take it all back, you should just go back to running slowly once every few weeks. That looks damn awful.

Yeah, you’d have to play with the distances a bit, and completely forget about the idea of sprinting any of them. I mean, it basically turns into a long run broken up with a few squats. Perfecrly fine workout, totally different aims and results though

The worst part is, I’ll get these ideas in my head and then legitimately get upset with myself for having thought them up, because now I HAVE to do it.

I’m trying to come up with one that’s based around the log viper. Hard to plan the in between movement, since the viper hits about everything.

Send your client the 100 burpee challenge. Call it a feeder workout, haha.

This is 100% what goes through my head when I come up with this stuff.

exactly…

Here’s the huge difference: I would 1) be doing it on a deload week, wherein such a workout would be the ONLY major session I do through the entire week, and it would be so far removed from my normal training that it wouldn’t necessarily interfere with recovery — I would never dream of doing it mid-block for the heck of it. And 2) I, unlike you, always stop and ask myself the ā€œwhyā€ when approaching something like this. I later noted the sheer volume of running this would entail, and truth be told I’m now reconsidering.

Amen.

My ā€œthou shaltā€ is minimum 1L of whole milk per day, plus a bunch of other stuff. Won’t clog someone else’s log up with it though.

Feel free to clutter it up man, I’m always open for chat. Not many subjects I’d veto in here.

Does this count as nutrition?

Those are less on my ā€œthou shall notsā€ and more buried somewhere in Leviticus somewhere…
