10 Miles Back Again

You’ll never be my age, mate, that’s what happens when you practice maths instead of math.

Morning Star C1W2D2

Jumps: 10

Snatch Grip High Pull:
3 x 60kg
3 x 70kg

Squat:
3 x 70kg
3 x 90kg
3 x 110kg
1 x 120kg
1 x 120kg
1 x 120kg
2 x 120kg
3 x 120kg
2 x 120kg

Row:
2 x 10 @ 70kg

Press:
5 x 5 @ 52.5kg

Notes:

  • Stuff felt heavy today, especially the squats. Maybe a rushed warm-up and no food, certainly hope so. I did notice myself pausing the squats without thinking, so maybe thats a factor too.
  • Was in a rush so was trying to push the pace here. Oddly, I seem to have less freetime when I’m not working than when I’m at work. And no, @Cyrrex, I won’t be running today.

Just think of all the free time you have without running!

Come on dude, you’re better than that.

@jdm135 Mostly taking care of kids (apparently I’m not allowed to call it babysitting when they’re mine), but I have been super manly and decorated a cake too.

I really couldn’t think up anything cleverer on such short notice.

2 presses (60kg)
15 swings (24kg)
4 pull ups

1 pull ups
2 presses (60kg)
15 swings (24kg)

Notes:
Was meant to be my daily work this morning, but I didn’t anticipate the car needing deicing. Realised after 1 set that using presses was really silly when dips and push ups would make a far more sensible long term plan a la @jdm135. So dips it will be in future.

Transformation week 8: weigh in at 199.6lbs. Pretty disciplined for most of the week, extremely undisciplined for little man’s birthday. No concerns there at all, thats exactly as it should be as far as I’m concerned. Gives me 5 weeks to lose 10lbs, which is at the upper end of manageable, while still being manageable. Let’s see how we go.

Training wise: hit 3 lifting sessions which is a positive, hit zero running or extra sessions, which is a negative. Took on a lot of extra life stuff this week, as well as a fair bit of family time though, so I’m not in any way gutted about that either. Going forward, I really like the Russian Fighter pull up/dip program with swings as a way to build up some decent volume and keep metabolism going. Maybe some band pull aparts too, I’m just reluctant to turn this into a full blown workout.

Congrats on a sub 200 weigh in AND on eating like a human for the birthday party. Those are both huge dude.

@T3hPwnisher cheers man. I think I pretty much got my priorities right this last week.

Work for this morning:

5-4-3-2-2 pull ups and dips
10 box jumps
Couch to 5k W5D2:
Only 2 x 8mins today. Went to a local park which has a mile circuit marked up, was interested to see how far I could get round in the time. Planned the first one as a warm up, then tried to go for a time on the second. First was probably 100m short of the mile, second one was probably 20m short of the mile. Took a lot out of me though. Was genuinely surprised at how close to @Cyrrex that puts me, I assumed I’d be closer to a 10mins mile if I’m honest. Will lift later, time allowing.

Yeah, that was pretty good, especially since you did it twice. I doubt I could do it much faster, if at all.

@Cyrrex thanks man.

Work for this arvo:

Snatch Grip High Pull:
2-3-2-3 @ 70kg

Squats:
5 x 5 @ 102.5kg

Press:
10 x 5 @ 50kg

Swings:
5 x 15 @ 24kg

Band Pull Aparts:
5 x 20

Notes:

  • The runs definitely took a lot out of me. Squats sucked massively, and all the planned giant sets got cut down to supersets at best as energy flagged and time ran out.

10km stationary bike ride
5 x 20kg kettlebell snatches every km

Wanted to just get a bit of basic aerobic work in on my way home. Hit my quads a lot harder than anticipated, a definite weakness there.
