I was talking about a 3 plate front squat? I barely have a 3 plate back squat. I think the most I’ve ever front squatted is about 80kg. I can definitely do more than that, but (and I can’t stress this enough), I don’t want to. Front squats suck.
My ebook is called “fat to chubby: the difficult way to look average”. It comes for 3 simple monthly installments.
In my defence, I don’t remember ever advertising a 3 plate front squat because I’ve done them probably 7 times since I restarted training. Front squats suck.
I dunno if it’s a compliment. He tried to intimidate me into buying his e book so I think when the UK’s borders open up again I’ll fly over and whoop his ass. I’m trained in guinea pig style king fu
Luckily for you the way of the guinea pig is the way of peace.
Since I’m already here may as well get an intro: What’s ur training situation looking like nowadays? Gyms open? What goals do u have short and long term.
Gyms are closed for the foreseeable. I have a small garage gym that I can do some stuff in, the big limits are:
No bench of any kind
Most of my sessions are done at around 11-12 at night, and are basically in peoples gardens so I try and avoid stuff that will make a load of noise on those sessions.
Long term goals are many. I want to look good, be healthy in body and mind and set a good example for my kids. Nothing groundbreaking. That probably looks like 2-3-4-5 plate big lifts, with a reasonable level of cardiovascular health and reasonable body fat levels. I think that would hit every goal comfortably and still leave wiggle room to pursue other things.
Short term goals/plan is to
Follow my current plan until gyms reopen, at which point I’ll probably switch to a basic 531 set up to get used to regular gym life again and set some sensible maxes. I’m running a slight deficit while I’m doing that, in order to prep myself.
late August/early September, assuming gyms reopen, I’ll be doing the ADD challenge and putting together some awful 16 week Frankenstein program with the aim of putting some mass on in the lead up to Christmas. Then Christmas, retest maxes, like I do every year, and straight into a year of 531.
The big difference is that my modification results in you getting uncomfortable and sweaty, but successful. Your modification results in me folding over like a chubby garden chair.
Sadly, this is your log, so all the claims and proving and whatnot are fully in your domain. I might just tag a bunch of people so they can come watch.
And also, I have been cleary claiming “no I couldn’t”, so technically I should just be proving that, no, I cannot, in fact, do it.
If I remember at an appropriate time, I have no issues doing that. And i can’t imagine you’ll want to get shown up by a chubby little Englishman would you? Not in front of Bob.
I am pretty sure you are better at repping squats than I am, generally speaking. On top of that, I am not at all back in the groove squatting with real weights. Last but not least, I am just a little feller. 90 kilo is well over my BW. I would not have been able to 350 that weight today, pretty sure of that.
If I find any other excuses, I will be sure to post them.
