I currently workout 5 nights a week with freeweights for around an hour a session doing mainly compound excercises such as bench, squat, deadlift, barbell bicep curls, with other excecises thrown in of course.
I’ve made huge improvemnts with my strength, for example from being so ridiculously skinny I could barely do 3 sets of 10 with 30 pound on the barbell curl, Now I can do 85 pounds… Not heavy for most bodybuilders but from whrre I’ve come from it’s a huge gain.
My diet I haven’t really looked at except to say I try to eat protein rich foods and I take protein shakes…
I’m not really going for the ‘cut’ look, I had that for 23 years of my life when I was skinny, I am fed up of being low body fat % I actually wnated to bulk up with some extra fat, I actually like the way I look and feel with it, I’ve been low body fat and I know what it feels like, I don’t really wanna go back there. Maybe if I am going on holiday I may cut up a little but nothing dramatic.
Just my opinion but I think guys in the USA Have this complex that if your not all ripped to shredz then it’s not good enougth. In the UK I seem to find it’s more accepted for guys to have a more bulky ‘strong man’ kinda look.[/quote]
that is a decent gain in strength but not so much so considering that you have been lifting for a year and a half. You have created a good base for yourself from what i can see, so just focus on lifting heavy and heating alot.
as for your opinion, we definitely appreiciate the “strong man look” but if you are big and bulky but cant bench your own weight, then you have a problem.
O.k. Well. maybe it’s the way you are standing, or something, but your front deltoid looks way bigger than the rear. Your bicep also far outweighs the tricep. This would lead me to believe that you are curling way too much and does not achieve the ballanced look of a well developed arm/shoulder.
Drop the curls and start pushing more. Do more deadlifts and rows to hit the rear delts. Right now it looks like you lift for beach muscle.
With that in mind, what do you think your rating should be?
this guy can’t be serious.
I can’t think of a witty retort, this picture is just so ridiculous.

Dude…what the fuck is wrong with you? Take some goddamn normal pics, like maybe a front double bi? a lat spread from the front/rear?
EDIT: This has photoshop potential written all over it.
I think you deserve way better than a 2.1 rating. Not just your improvements but you’re also as big or bigger than the average posters on this site. Oh well. That’s what you get for posting all those goofy pictures. At least you have a sense of humor.
WOW. Are these pics meant to be funny or are u gay? (legitimately asking) I really see no other reasons for posting pics of this nature, and i kinda wish the mods woulnd’t have let u

I wouldn’t request any “bi” pictures from this guy!

You realize it doesn’t count if you just rub the “protein” all over your face.
Hi again, just fin reading the latest posts…
‘‘that is a decent gain in strength but not so much so considering that you have been lifting for a year and a half’’
How much is considered a ‘‘normal’’ increase then? I know that persoanlly for me being so puny and weak to begin with I have made a great improvement… More than I expected!
‘‘O.k. Well. maybe it’s the way you are standing, or something, but your front deltoid looks way bigger than the rear’’
It’s the way I’m standing. I’m very balanced.
''With that in mind, what do you think your rating should be? ‘’
Ok I admit I got this rate thing all wrong. I thought it was for rate my progress threads. I don’t think I’m anywhere near my ideal physique. As I stated in the first post in this thread I have a LONG way to go and lots of hard work. I don’t however slack in the gym now, I lift 5 times a week for an hour a session, I follow a training programme that challenges me each session and I think that has worked, I’m much bigger and stronger.
I think for progress I shud get a 6-7 rating as I’ve certainly come a long way…
as for ideal physique, I’ll have to go along with whatever you guys say… Thats not to say everybodies idea of ideal physique is the same.

I’m not sure whether I find you to be an embarrassment to our country, or a comic genius.
Anyway, yeah I’d say you’ve made some good progress.
I’ll see you in hell.

You know what? Fuck it all, this guy is cool. Well developed sense of humor + lack of shame + actual progress + dosen’t give a shit = awesome add to the boards.
Meaty, what kind of diet and routine did you use? What are your plans from here? What are your current bench, squat, and DL maxes? You mentioned the strongman look, are you thinking about strongman cops sometime in the future? What made you decide to bulk up?

Thanks for the welcome… (Nice to get at least one :P)
My current Bench max is 140 Pounds…
Squat is a bit of a unknown at the moment as I’ve just bought a squat rack and waiting for it to be put up. I physically can squat more than I can lift over my head to get on my shoulders. So once the rack is up I’ll know for sure what I can handle.
I tend to deadlift 180 Pounds, but thats come up huge from the 50 pounds I started with!!
I very much doubt I’ll enter into any type of comps whether bodybuilding or strongman… I don’t feel the need to go win comps. I do love strongman events though and the guys that do them are amazing.
I guess I do want a physique more like them than that of the ripped sort. I’m not afraid of a little fat and as long as it doesn’t get excessive (which it won’t do as I’m naturally skinny, i’ve actually had to try damn hard to gain the weight I have) then I’ll be ok.
I think it’s more realistic for a busy lifestyle to accept the fact that I don’t have time for copious amounts of cardio and stressing over how much this and that is in whatever I eat. ontop of my workouts and a full time job familly commitments and a relationship (takes a deep breath)

Liked that ‘what has been seen…’ pic!

is that 140 and 180 for some reps?
You looked in the avatar pic like you would be stronger, not being critical, as the progress from a 50lb deadlift to a 180 is a journey that was worth making!
Anyway, sounds like you get some fun out of weightlifting, and you’ve certainly changed a lot from your, erm… ‘modelling’ days!
wait…so you weigh 180 pounds…
your max benchpress is 40 pounds under your bodyweight…
and your max deadlift is your bodyweight?
after a year and a half of lifting?
