Dude, first off, MJ was a SUPERstar. You don’t even have any of those today. Usher and Justin Beiber are NOT SUPERstars. MJ conquered the whole world before he lost it to the same people who praised him before. To anyone who wasn’t at least old enough to understand in 1985, this may seem strange…because you have never seen anyone taken to that height.

People would live outside for days just to see Michael exit a hotel room.

The only people to reach that level are groups like The beatles of maybe Elvis.

You have to understand this to know why people cried.
did you cry when you heard that MJ died? Did you go buy some flowers and sit in on the curb outside, make a memorial and cry about him dying?

(completely serious question cause thousands, if not millions, of people did this)
You want the truth? yeah, I did. I dropped a tear when he died because I grew up as a kid hearing Billy Jean on the radio trying to sing along. I dropped a tear because I remember my parents when I was a kid reminiscing about how great his music was with the jackson 5. I dropped a tear because I was in diapers when he had his own cartoon show called The Jackson 5 that was showing in reruns I believe. That dude’s music was freaking everywhere at one time.

He was the first black person MTV ever allowed to play on their network. He opened doors that many of you probably aren’t aware of…so yeah, the day I heard he died, I felt something was lost…because I remember people buying leather jackets and going to school with one glove on.

You can laugh all you want, but that’s real and it’s the truth.
Damn kids…you forgot Pict X.

I will say this… in spite of the public’s ridicule of internet relationships, if I heard that certain people on these forums had died suddenly, I’m certain I would shed a tear.

LOL!

Also, last point about MJ…but he was one of the first artists to truly break that color barrier when it comes to pop stars. It didn’t matter that he used to be black (yes, joke). It didn’t matter that he became white.

In 1985, it was universal…and I have heard admitted racists claim they liked some of his music anyway.

That Thriller album is STILL selling. Who the fuck else can claim shit like that?

All I have to say Prof X is if you can tell me you had lived your life and were ready to die by 23 then you win. Nothing tragic about this.
That wasn’t what I said. Anyone can SAY they are ready for death, but no one really is ready for the discontinuation of all things they experience in this existence. That goes for 40 year olds just like it goes for those who are 23. Why are you making some distinction based on him being 23? Most of the soldiers killed in Iraq were younger than that I imagine.

My point was that I grew up around death. It wasn’t some distant concept that ONLY happened to people over 40. It was happening to kids my age at EIGHT YEARS OLD.

I think some of you have been sheltered in the sense that you really still see yourselves as “kids” even though you already grew up.
So those kids dying at 8… Wasn’t tragic? Being around death might of dulled it’s affect on you, but to me kids dying in Iraq is tragic… As is Az’s death. It’s an opinion, just like yours is that it’s not tragic… But anyway, we’re doing exactly what my post was intended to stop, so I’ll bow out

What? How many remarks do you plan on making that aren’t about what was actually written?

8 years old is still a kid.

23 years old is a grown man.

How do you not see the difference there?

The point is, if you can volunteer to die in the military at the age of 18, don’t come on claiming it is tragic that a “23 year old” died just because they were 23. That doesn’t make sense.

Why compare an 8 year old to that as if my point wasn’t clear?

I mentioned “8” to give you the understanding that I never considered death to be something that ONLY happened to people of a certain age, nothing more.

Look, I know you are having a hard time coming up with logical solid arguments against what is written, but you can do better than this.

I think music can really speak to people - it’s such an emotional thing, how can it not affect you?

Maybe it’s because I’m a guitar player, and because I studied his style for so long and it helped me forge my own sound, but the day Eddie VH kicks the bucket - I will definitely shed a tear or two.

I don’t know if people cry for the artist himself, or just how much the music meant to you throughout your life, and all the things that music was the “soundtrack” to, you know?

And I can see being sad for MJ - when I think about what an amazingly talented kid he was, fronting TJ5 at like 8 years old - can’t help but feel sad for what he became, in a large part due to his lost youth & abusive father. That’s sad…

FTR, I couldn’t care less about this.

Did he really say this (below)? Because if Zyzz fans that I encountered has this mentality:

Act and behave in a way that will make life interesting and fun, fuck a mundane predictable life working monday to friday with something you derive no pleasure from; just living life out till you grow old and wither away. Find a passion, form relationships, don’t be afraid to get out there and fuck what everyone else thinks, trust me it’s alot more fun that way.

Dont ever pay people out or put people down. Instead just put yourself up and let the haters do their thing. I’d rather be a person that’s hated on, than a person that does the hating. A wise man one said…

Haters gonna hate!"

I doubt I’d have a problem.

I may have been a bit harsh in my original post, but I still get the feeling the guy was a troll and all his fans were in on the joke.
I’m more concerned by the very real possibility that many of his fans weren’t in on the joke and admired/ aspired to be like his alter ego. He’s like Sitch on, um, steroids.
Professor X wrote:

Dude, I’m racist as fuck, and I still listen to some of his old shit that was playing when I was a kid. All the way back to the Jackson Five shit.

I was at a BBQ-birthday party on Saturday night and after everyone ate the party dwindled down to light chatter overtop of the dinner music the DJ was playing.

Then he put on MJ’s “Don’t stop till you get enough.”

Party revived, dancing commenced, good times were had.

That’s my MJ story for the thread.

He was an arrogant kid. Find me an attractive kid who isn’t.

What people love to brush under the rug is that he worked relentlessly on his physique, his brand/business, and his school work, inspired thousands of kids to get fit, healthy, and spread the message that when you work your hardest, smile at yourself, and believe, people will either get to mirin or hatin.

If that’s not a good kid then what the fuck is?

Aw =) ID is the best.

Personally I like to have some fun on forums but I don’t put on an act like this guy supposedly did but I don’t see how you guys can get all bent out of shape about the stuff DN is saying as an outrageous character on a forum about another character from a forum. Unless of course you have also met her in person…

You see the irony there? This is why I do believe in judging people on the self they present on the internet because despite some fools delusions to the contrary ‘it’s just the internet har’ it is REAL and the disdain you guys feel for DNs posts here are evidence because you’re feeling something about what she is saying, which is why it’s silly to think this guy should somehow not be judged on his online persona. His online persona is/was his real persona, just like everyone else.

I don’t really have an opinion on the guy or his antics and I think it’s a shame someone could die so young but also think some of you guys might be idiots for hanging on his foolhardy nuts…

but mostly I just wanted to comment on the whole idea that anyone should think their online behavior doesn’t count. (You think it counts for DN!) And I’ve heard it before from some of the guys getting all bent in this thread even and you guys are young and whatever you do here ‘on the internet’ has the potential to follow you a long time. So get that idea of the internet not being the real you out of your head because that is not only nonesense it won’t cut it when you act stupid and it gets attached to your non-anonymous you.

^^Nice! And wise.

I hadn’t a clue who Zyzz was until this thread and I still havent watched any of his videos.

I just think DN is a complete moron; that makes almost every thread shes posts in significantly more awkward because of how hard she tries to be edgy and badass.

Agree with this. Usually, the same guys who act like the internet doesn’t matter are the same guys ranting that you can’t hold down a job and post here. I think they do things like that so they appear to be “well adjusted” as if everyone else is a hermit. Yeah, what you say and how you act matters especially of you stand out and people start to pay more attention to you. I am only now aware of the effect some of my words have had. This is both good and bad. While I am aware that I have had an overall effect that seems to motivate some people, I know that to move forward I need to change my approach.

I’ve posted on internet discussion forums since I was in college and regardless of the site, the reaction was similar.

I can honestly say though that my actions were an attempt to motivate people, not dissuade from reaching for the best.

Agree with Bonez, whats the point of jumping into a thread to just talk shit especially about a person who is dead. Sounds like someone trying to seek attention, and boy is she foul mouthed…
