Maybe ur not as big a fan as you think lol. Forgot which fed it was. Can’t find it on open powerlifting so maybe unsanctioned. Maybe IPL or whatever the Russian equivalent is.
I’m pretty sure that’s IPL, I believe it says “World Cup” behind him to the right of the screen.
You got me on this, I was completely unaware of this meet. I only remember him took a 4th deadlift attempt with 461 kg at WRPF World 2017. TBH, as a fan, I would rather be seeing him compete full power, and going for the 110kg/242lb world record, where he has real competitions from Kevin Oak and Jamal Browner. He probably needs to total 1020-1030 kg to get his record “safe” from those competitions thou.
Ye this was just a livestream that I happened to catch. Obviously nothing happened so didn’t even make it onto social media. I think Belkin was equating his bumper plate powers with his calibrated powers at the time so thought he’d be good for 461kg but no. Bumpers is truly cheat mode I get a solid 20kg out of them myself so no surprise there.
It is exciting in the way closer competition is with Belkin in sleeves. With the freaks progressing like they are now in sleeves like Rouska and Browner I hope it pushes everyone to new levels. Can’t say I’m confident Belkin will have the record for very long.
New ATWR 972.5kg @ 100kg for Belkin in sleeves. Far from a perfect day so is close to 1000kg in sleeves if he keeps pushing it.
Deadlifts were a bit funky. Dunno what his last warm up was because can’t read Russian but I doubt it’d be 415kg… or would it? See the Instagram story pic below if anyone can translate the caption. Anyways ez 415kg opener but lost balance. Retook and hit it ez-ish and jumped straight to 442.5kg for a 1K kg total but was a jump too big.
Wasn’t today but from this evidence 1000kg total isn’t far off. I hope he is having fun pushing WRs and smashing PBs.

Last warm-up is actually 415 kg. In the photo, you can see 7 red plates and one 20 kg plate at the outermost of each side of the barbell, plus a pair of 2.5 kg collars. I heard that he lowered his opener from 440 to 415, which was his last warm-up because there’s something not right with the platform. It took him a whole full minute to adjust his sumo set-up during his 2nd and 3rd attempt after failing the 1st attempt, not sure what had happened there.
CNS fatigue is affecting his coordination.
Far from ideal then taking 415kg thrice and funky platforms. 1000kg soon - ish
Belkin had some traction issues looks like from latter part of this vid. Can imagine how off putting that would be.
He has had a few instances where slippage has been a bit of an issue of at least made him go do something something to his footwear to stick a bit better.
Need to crowdfund Belkin some Notorious Lift Deadlift slippers.
Sometimes he can be a bit too demanding. I still remember that in an interview, he threw shot at Big Dog organizer about the meet condition. For squat, he complained that the bar being used (Goliath squat bar) is too thick, and thus, hurt his benches. Then, he talked about the meet not using a deadlift carpet for deadlifting, which make it harder for him to break the weight off-the-floor. I think one of the reasons why he loves competing in foreign countries is because the judging is more lenient, especially when it comes to squat depth. There is one time he talked about an ideal meet condition where he can hit all the numbers he wants.
I’m actually Australian. I live in the state Big Dogs is hosted in. Can confirm the Goliath Squat Bar is thicc af. 35mm diameter. Going from 29mm power bar to that was quite offputting. To be fair it was made known well in advance that a Goliath squat bar would be used and it’s specs are available online.
Like training with a stiff bar for deads for so long before finally getting a deadlift bar and getting benefits Belkin May have been better off grabbing a squat bar. At least a 32mm so the jump to 35mm isn’t too bad
Had this happen to me twice. Makes the pull different and killed my last two deadlift maxes
Big time. Nothing like a platform full of talc to ruin deadlifts.
Might be his footwear + certain carpet types I think. As flat and low to the ground as his sambo shoes are they don’t have a lot of grip I think. Notorious Lift slipper master race.
Some of the places I’ve done are just painted plywood. Absolutely no grip. Have to push down rather than out and really fucks up the start
Not exactly relevant to ATWRs but Belkin related. He is copping some flack for a comment on a KingOfTheLifts post (now locked) along of the lines isa thirst trap lol. I mean it kinda is and at this point I’m not sure what should or should not be said to respect and/or empower women.

When I see the word junior I assume 18 and under…
what does junior mean in the lifting world?
Amy Can Do Whatever She Wants!
Under 23 for junior. I think actual teens are categorised as sub juniors
