Man, I played the shit out of Runescape for 6 years consistently. Such a great game in terms of simplicity that brings complexity.

Finally, someone mentions the Kings Quest series… those started with monochrome and carried on for years. I’m surprised no one’s mentioned Star Wars: Knights of the old Republic. Probably the biggest plot twist I can remember in a game, especially considering it was 35+ hours into the game that they turned the whole thing on its head. Anyone remember Airborne Ranger or A10 Tank Killer? I have to put Golden Axe up there too… more of my childhood income got shoved in the front of that thing than I’d care to admit.
