Your Hobbies, Other Than Lifting?

I’m much more of a geek than you guys.

When I’m not lifting…

1.Video games (not so much anymore though)

  1. Overclocking, anything to push a computer much harder than the warranty will allow.

  2. Cancer research (I consider this a hobby since I do a lot of my independent research, other than experiments, lol)

3.1 Folding@home, using cpu/gpu power to fold proteins to advance cancer research.

What I want to get into:

Fuel source conversions for vehicles. Bio-diesel is looking good, but I’m considering hydrogen since the initial cost of conversion should be much cheaper.

Hiking, biking, meandering, lots of books. I just finished a good one recommended by Irondwarf about Magellen and his circumnavigation of the globe (My degree and interest is history).

Mostly I embroider.

This one I did last year and was an experiment involving waterpaint, unspun wool and a photograph of myself. It’s based loosely on a painting by Klimt and is wrinkled because it’s never been mounted and was in a bag. When I look at things I mentally translate it into fabric and thread.

NeelyDan plays hockey, builds old and new jeeps, plays a lot of casino poker, and recently began a training program for our local FD’s volunteer section.

Judo and iaido is where most of my time is spent outside of lifting. I spend a lot of time reading, and doing woodwork, stained glass, and leatherwork.

bass, drugs, poker, movies

that’s about it nowadays

is eating at restaurants a hobby?

I need a life.

MLGpro.com and MMA class everyday. Once the winter gets here snowboarding.

Me I spin FIRE POI!!!

That isn’t me but I’m almost that good. aside from that; boxing, writing comics (nothing major), bass guitar, smoking weed, playing nutritional Guru to my mates, drinking and general partying of any nature. [/quote]

That’s different. My girlfriend is awesome at that. But she’s Maori, and they invented the poi, so go figure…

Very nice. An embroidery inspired by Gustav Klimt’s paintings. Can I have it?

No way, man! I’m gettin’ that embroidery if O’s givin’ it up!

My job as an illustrator is enjoyable enough to be considered a hobby. Getting paid to draw pictures. lol

I also like:
Painting (pictures on canvas)
Longboard skateboarding
Writing poetry
Reading history books
Looking at art
Watching horror movies with my son

If I had more time I’d like to get back to fishing (which I did all the time as a kid).

Now that i’ve got lifting under control and it’s just kinda “there” as part of my life and doesn’t take the concentration or effort it once did to establish the routine, I have way too much free time so I need a few more hobbies. Most of mine are pretty unproductive unfortunately, shit like watching football and playing video games and drinking.

I tend to not want to do things on my own much, but now that I have some more time to just be by myself I’m looking at getting a nice digital SLR camera to replace my old broken one and really getting into photography again. Unfortunately winter is starting soon…so less cool photo opportunities for the less creative such as myself.

Gaming
Electronic Music Production
Shitty attemps at DJing
Reading

Uh, yeah boring stuff.

Music(mostly listening and futile attempts and preforming, producing, and recording)
MMA(I get beat up)
Reading(pretty dull stuff, I’m strangely fascinated by travel journals)
Cooking(I find preparing extravagant meals very relaxing)
Things with wheels(cars, motorcycles, bicycles; fixing them, breaking them, and going too fast in/on them)
