My penis turtles up as I reach failure on lying leg curls.

the weight plates HAVE to be symmetrical. I see guys using unmatching plates (brand, not weight) and it makes me shiver

I do this too. I also find myself reorganizing plates on the weight tree when they’re out of order/in the wrong places.

Hahaha!
I’ll be in Nola end Feb, next year, and will stop by Houston. We should meet up for a hardcore motherfucking workout, together with Prof X and whoever else wanna join.
I will kill you all with my fucking gases.

I have to do that afterwards. Before is definitly NSFW and during has caused no end of problems with uptight Gym management. On the other hand it does cut down the need for chalk.
Do you swap grip?
No, I only use my left hand, even though I’m right-handed. When I played baseball I was a pitcher and didn’t want to risk injury to my throwing arm.

Now that we’re officially friends, do you want to do some squats the next time in Texas?
Can never lift in shorts. Always swishy pants. Can never retire said swishy pants, even the pair that is 6 years old and has rips.
Listen to Ghetto Boyz ‘damn it feels good to be a ganster’ on arm day’s last set.
Always wear a wrist sweat band, only on the left wrist, to wear on the right would be sacrilege.
If someone touches me, like lets say pat on the shoulder, i have to wipe off that spot on my body with my hand.
I hold my breath around old people at the gym. But in fairness i have a wierd old person phobia and do this everwhere. In fact i cant even go in a pool if one is in it.
I can only jump rope in one spot by the squat rack, if i wanna skip rope and someone is there i dont skip rope.
Never realized how strange i am with the gym until just now.
I shake my arms out between sets. Even leg sets.
I’m the only one in the gym that does all machines with one arm or one leg at a time. But that’s okay because the machines go heavy enough for everyone else to use both arms or both legs.
Some more
- I have to use the least amount of plates, even if it is an inconvenience. For example, if I have 2 dimes and a 2.5lb plate on each and I want to add another 5lbs, instead of adding 2.5lbs on each side I have to take the whole thing off and add a 25lb plate. This one is a quirk since most of the time I go back down in weight and end up taking the plate off and putting all other weight back on.
I skip, without a skipping rope, before most deadlift and squat sets. Usually about 30 seconds worth
I wear two wristbands on my right wrist, and I absolutely cannot leave the house for the gym without wearing my g-shock on the left.
I always look angry. Stops people I don’t like from talking to me.
I have to tuck my shirt in to the front of my shorts if I’m doing plyometrics or jump squats
Don’t masturbate within an hour of going. Makes me feel lethargic

I do this one as well. I saw when Arnold did it on pumping iron.

What model g-shock do you use?
Are your wristbands, sweat wristbands?
I also find myself tucking in the front part of my shirt when Im lifting. Dont know why. I like to pull up my shorts when squatting.

i dont think i have any quirks in the gym. when i go to the water fountain i have to spin around clockwise three times before i take a drink, but that isnt a quirk is it?
- I have to systematically reset stations to zero while working out, so I re-rack the weights of the previous exercise during the rest periods of the next exercise. For instance, if I am doing pull-ups but just completed deadlifts, in between sets I’ll go back to the DL station and take the plates off one side of the DL bar, do another set of pull-ups, take the plates off the other side of the DL bar, do another set of pull-ups, put the bar away, and then complete my pull-ups.
Btw, I workout at home and can leave weights and equipment wherever I want.

I do the same thing.
And here’s why:
- During sessions I don’t record the total weight lifted for a movement. Dumbbell exercises are “2 x 40”, and anything with a bar is the type of bar plus the added weight “BB Back Squat - 7Oly+210” or “Deadlift - 6Oly+275”. When putting weight on the bars I use the least number of plates because it is less mental addition.
(After each session I’ll add the weights together in little parenthesis above where it was split up.)

Now that I train at home (again), I find myself doing air guitar between sets as my stereo blasts out metal and heavy rock.
Between sets of calf raises, I often jump up and down with my knees locked, until the burn in my calves stops me.
Due to a long cycle of DC a while back, I still find myself taking deeeeep forced breaths between sets, even when not training DC-style.
Funny you mention this man I do the exact same thing and count them as well

Hah!
Hey Myself ( that sounds weird),
Did you get most of your size from DC training? You look damn good for only being 20.

Earn a plate, use a plate.
When I’m going for top end sets, say 90% and up, there have to be the same number of each plate on both sides of the power rack. I fear that an imbalance in the rack will lead to an imbalance in my movement.

Thanks man. Mostly HIT type stuff like the Yates split, or simple bodypart splits ramping up to a top set. I’ve done a few blasts of DC but my joints are always fucking with me so I always stop after a couple months
optheta wrote:
You need to explain your thought process when you do this lol, I’m genuinely curious.
Not really sure to tell you the truth, that’s why I file it under “quirks”. If I had to guess though I think it’s more of a basic courtesy thing than anything else. My gym has a couple members who literally smell of human excrement, and even a passing whiff of their permeating stench is enough to knock about 100 lbs off of my max squat.
I put my weights away, clean off the equipment I use, and respect the olfactory systems of others in the gym.

Ditto that last part! But I always seem to go back to DC at some point because the results are immediate.
