Now, I usually shop seasonal, meaning I buy whatever meat is the most reasonably priced for whatever season.
In the summer shrimp is good, around 20 Norwegian Kroner (3-4$, depending)for 1 kg or pork chops, which are around the same, or chicken thighs, which are also around 20 KR for 1 kg. Offseason these pruducts are easilly 4x that price.
Now, with thanksgiving, christmas and new year’s coming up, turkey is real, real cheap. 19 kr (3-4$) pr KG, which is a big deal, considering chicken breast costs anywhere from 80 (15$) to 180(35$) kr pr kg.
Usually I buy around 10 kg of meat at the time, or 20 when buying chicken or shrimp.
Today I bought 15 birds, all they had at the store. They each weigh anywhere from 5-7 kg, meaning I’ve bought 90 kg of bird. My freezer is full.

There’s a halal butcher shop in my area that sells real good quality chicken breast for a steal. 2 40lbs boxes for $160. [/quote]
Yeah those halal guys got some good deals…
I get a kilo of ground beef for 5 euro, a kilo of - delicious - turkey shoarma (marinated and all that) for 6.50 euro, and sirloin steak at 8.50 euro/kilo.
( 1 euro = $1.505 today apparently, and a kilo is 2.2 pounds… )
I guess they have low costs for personnel/transport/keeping stock…
