My old gym allowed chalk and had 3 power racks and one squat rack. Also DB’s up to 180lbs, atlas stones, sleds, logs, and London Ontario Power Lifting club trained there. I loved it. I learned so much.
But I moved and had to join a YMCA. Then they started upping my membership fee for a single dad.
So I had to tighten the wallet and built my own home gym so now I am hard core as I like.
where is this? powerhouse?
It’s on Exeter road near the jail. Makes it more hardcore LOL. Its called Ulitmate Workout Center… I think it went under a name change. And the management put in more cardio machines and pushed the good stuff away. Gotta manage your gym bills etc etc

You know your gym is hardcore when the owner has to declare bankruptcy in 6 months and the place has to close.
That is what happens to all of the attempts at opening a “hardcore” gym in this area.
Yup that is right for my city too.
The property owner has some environmental stuff to clean up(he had no idea when he bought the land or so he says). But he will not do it cause the city is charging him extra taxes cause of the problem and he just let it go to the point of millions being owed. Can’t see the place being open much longer from what I hear. To bad was considering going back there if my money problems got better.

I actually trained at one like that. It was a hole in the wall called ‘‘The Zoo’’. Cracked floors, hole in the roof, self-made collars, cracked mirror and the bathroom was a pit latrine with a tap on the side.
I loved training there though. I was shown that what I thought was ‘‘intense’’ or ‘‘heavy’’ wasn’t much. Sadly the landlord came and threw them out b/c of rent issues.

Bujo and I were enjoying the wings (and eye candy) at the Hooters in Lafayette earlier this evening and during the course of the conversation the topic came up. I thought it would make an interesting/funny thread. I’ll start (blatantly stealing Bujo’s best one!)
… the 200 lb dumbbells are clean and the TREADMILLS are dusty!

When are you two coming through Houston?
You best not come through here and not let me know.
I kid you not my gym plays this most mornings. If it’s not this it’s Britney Spears or Lady Gaga. Really.

Sorry Nards…00:42 and out.
There’s a gym here that requires people to lift at least 220lbs (100kg) correctly on all of the big 3 before they can apply for membership. The numbers aren’t spectacular, but it does keep the riff-raff and wannabes out.
The members get a key to the place and can train 24/7, and there are no trainers or staff employed. You only see the owner when you come to take or lift your audition.
On the application form it explicitly states that “Muscle Gym” is not a fitness center, and that they make no membership contracts. This is the place:
That’s such an awesome idea for a gym, wow! You’d have to really trust your members though to keep the facility in good shape and not steal stuff. Otherwise, for 24/7 access? Can’t get any better than that.
