We are still weak from the first recession. So when the next one hits which will happen within two years we will be far worse off than we were in 2009 because in 2009 we were coming off a decade of relative prosperity. These things happen in waves. There is no direct line down. Sort of like a stock that falls. It falls for a while then stops levels off or goes up a little and then continues it’s path downwards. We are currently in that sort of chart economically.
Nobody on the planet can guess with certainty when the next recession will come–and that includes world-class economists and heads of state.
Funny thing about world-class economists. About half of them say one thing and the other half say the opposite. As for my prediction, I’ve seen plenty of economic cycles and I know that you don’t bring the economy out of the doldrums by raising taxes and adding the cost of national health care. Obamacare kicks in the same year that taxes hit the people who create jobs. I am betting that this will cause a recession. Because those who are going to be paying higher taxes are right now preparing for that eventuality. Add in the higher capital gains tax rates that investors in the stock market must now pay and you have a recipe for disaster. That means we have between now and sometime by the end of 2014 before the economy slows once again to a trickle. I’m not an economist but I’d be willing to bet on that prediction. And I’m far from being alone in my dire prediction. Former democratic President Bill Clinton warned Obama not to raise taxes because of this eventuality.

I do not believe, like some on this board, that he’s actually trying to wreck the economy. But he’s going to do it anyway because he is a clueless idealogue. He was no more ready for the job of President than any other Senator with only two years of experience, and quite bit less ready than most. It matters not how much charisma he has. He is still a disaster!

Then you should bet me Pitt because I am about 95% sure that we will be in another recession by December of 2014!

what is the wager ?

what is the wager and I also know the definition of a recession is a contraction in the numbers . But the numbers are not always a clear picture of reality lets say a contraction to the worst point of the last one .

And I will also if someone shows me where the budgets, spending and appropriations of the United States of America is not the responsibility of ~ 545 people AND their predecessors (with a President being just one of them)…and I will do exactly the same.

Presidents are supposed to lead. That’s why we elect them. This President of course gets a free pass at every turn.

As a side note regarding free passes, how bad do you think the pres would have gotten on GW Bush had he said that the killing of our Ambassador in Libya was over an Internet video? There would have been no end to the abuse from every media outlet. The oomedians would still be doing jokes about it, calling him clueless. But his royal highness Obamawitz gets yet another free pass.

And you guys are sitting on the sidelines applauding this disaster of a President.

Ha ha…funny stuff.

Zeb: do you or do you not know what we’re talking about in this thread? I’m getting the impression that you think we’re just taking about whether or not he’s been a good President. We aren’t.

In other words, do you believe that Obama is a Cloward-Piven acolyte?

Why don’t you scroll back to one of my first comments on the thread. This is twice that you have insulted my intelligence when in fact it is you who has failed to read all of my posts. One would think that before someone attacks that they would at least get all of the facts first.

As for posts staying on topic I think you’ve been around long enough (in your many incarnations) to know that wondering off topic is THE standard around here.

You are disappointing.

First of all, no offense is intended.

Secondly, you said: “The man has no defense and you look silly at best trying to defend him.”

When I said I was defending him, I didn’t mean I’m defending him as a good president. I meant that I’m expressing doubt that he’s a Cloward-Piven acolyte. Since you said I look silly doing this, I assumed you too believe that Obama is working to undo American capitalism via collapse and welfare overload.

Thirdly, “in your many incarnations”–what do you mean?

We need this to happen, so that the American people will finally understand that this system is untenable. No one, not even a ‘genius’ Harvard Lawyer can fix it.

It will then be time to return to reality. This will be led by Sarah Palin.

Why do you insist that it will be Sarah Palin? The number of smarter, harder-working, better-qualified conservatives is astronomical.

She enlisted the aid of Democrats in Alaska to root out corruption in her own party. She place Good over politics.

She speaks directly to the people. When she talks, they know its her and not some asshole typing stuff on a teleprompter, feeding lines to an even bigger asshole.

She is outside the Republican party of today. Barbara Bush said she should ‘stay in Alaska’. The bluebloods hate her because they know she is honest.

Just watch…when this system comes tumbling down (nothing can save it now), the people will turn to her because what is moral is what is right.

I don’t even understand the point of your article from ‘Politics USA: Real Liberal Politics - No Corporate Money - No Masters.’ Liberals like gun control. What’s their problem here? Well, they are trying to make Sarah Palin look like a hypocrite but they fail utterly. For one thing, everyone(including the NRA) knows that she has done more than anyone else in the state, and probably as much as anyone else in the country, to protect and preserve 2nd Amendment rights. All whilst facing fierce opposition from the Democrats of course.

So they look through their archives for a story back in 2008 about the Alaska State Defense Force. They pick their little cherry then try to weave some ridiculous narrative through it. It’s pure fantasy. Here’s some of the stuff that didn’t fit their thinly veiled agenda:

Tne commander(Brig. Gen. Thomas Westall) of the Alaska State Defense Force was under investigation into complaints about his conduct. An invetigation was launched and the recommendation was that they remove the brigade’s military policing powers. Westall had already stepped down from his position as commander.

“It’s just an opportunity for me to retire. Can’t I do that gracefully?” he said, laughing.

'Brig. Gen Thomas Westall’s departure from the defense force marks the third time he’s left a post amid complaints he abused the power of the position…

One of those people was air taxi operator Dave Glenn, ticketed by Westall for violating airport rules about dogs.

Things went downhill between the two after that, Glenn said.

“He showed up in a quasi-military civilian uniform with a flak vest and an automatic pistol hanging on his hip,” he said. "This made me highly nervous…

Glenn, who served with the 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War, decided to start carrying his gun…

Controversy also surrounded Westall in 1989, when he was a top enforcement official for the Federal Aviation Administration in Alaska who shut down eight air carriers in 18 months.

The commission never took official action, he said. He believes Westall stepped down after word got out about the commission wanting him to resign.

“I think the reorganization is going to be just great. I just think it’s time for me to move on” he said.

Source: http://www.adn.com/2008/10/28/570836/westall-has-been-accused-of-abuse.html#storylink=cpy

This article from the Anchorage Daily News was a big more flattering of Brig. Gen. Westall:

'The report critiqued the brigade’s lack of specific policies, especially regarding termination of soldiers, said Campbell, adjutant general for the Alaska National Guard.

It also found that administering a part-time civilian force brings a high liability risk to the state, he said.

[The state’s Military and Veterans Affairs Commissioner Craig Campbell:

“The report does not say Westall was a bad commander,” Campbell said. “The report says the state defense force, it’s a voluntary organization, it’s part time, it’s dedicated volunteers serving their state, but they don’t have the intensity of training, the skill sets the National Guard has.”

In a still-evolving mission shift, most force members will instead serve civil roles in support of the Alaska National Guard, Campbell said. The Guard is taking on MP duties under a new national mission, another major factor in the decision to disarm the brigade.

EDIT: If Palin had not taken the advice to partially disarm this brigade the same leftist media would’ve blasted her for keeping an inefficiently run armed militia with an unstable commander on the state payroll. They probably would’ve called it her own ‘private army’ and suggested she intended to use it to start an insurrection. Doesn’t matter what you do. The leftist media will invent their own narrative to suit their ideology.
