You Gotta Be Kidding!

I know this is going to sound asshole-ish, but I don’t get why everybody, even bigoted-as-hell Fox News automatically calls sex change patients by their new gender.(this is the “fair and balanced” news network that was screaming “teflon molester” when Michael Jackson was found not guilty) I would have trouble calling somebody like that “she” or “he”, especially when the former gender is still obvious. I guess it is a question of semantics.

That German ‘girl’ looks kind of like an anorexic tranny Dolph Lundgren to me. Not quite as nauseating as Paris Hilton, but close. I feel like I’m a young schwarzenegger trapped in Steve Buscemi’s body, where’s my government funded steroids and plastic surgery?

edit:I guess I don’t understand why we’re supposed to treat sex changed people as if they’d always been their new gender, because they slip through some kind of psychological/emotional loophole. There’s that one man who felt he was a tiger, and so got whiskers implanted in his face, surgically split his lip and tatooed stripes on his body, but he doesn’t expect people to treat him like a tiger, only a man who is trying like hell to be one.
If I was a student this kid’s school, I’d be the heartless prick who’d be going around making sure everybody knew that he wasn’t fully a girl, and never will be. Always that pesky Y chromosome.

Article only mentions “hormone injections”. Says nothing about the snip and tuck actually occuring. So is the kid going to get the full blown surgery done later?

As twisted as this all sounds, and is, this could be a case where the childs gender was not certain for whatevr reason at birth, the parents decided they wanted a boy, had the plumbing adjusted accordingly, but in actuality, it should have been a girl. I know i read about something like this in a class in college.

I agree. The article doesn’t say whether there was physical gender crossing. There have been cases where people are raised as girls when they actually have testicles that never descended. This isn’t quite the same as someone who is just mixed up. Without knowing the facts in detail surrounding this one person, it is rush to judgement to claim it is definitely “wrong”.

There have been cases where a child born with both sex organs had their orientation chosen by the mother at birth…only years later to have a child who felt like the choice made was wrong.

I think homophobia clouds some people’s understanding of cases where there are legit concerns as far as gender assignment.[/quote]

Yes, this happens. However, there is nothing in the article that says there are any sort of physical issues. This kid just wanted to be a girl. That’s a psychological issue. I wonder what happens when the kid goes through puberty and suddenly realizes “Holy shit! I like girls. WTF did I do to myself?” This kid is 14. I don’t care how “mature” he/she is, nobody that young has a clue about anything.

To me this is about indulgent parents who didn’t say “No!” and a spoiled child (and taxpayers footing the bill). I can’t believe medical doctors went along with it.
