Bah, you guys miss the point. It’s not about entitlement or giving things to people who won’t work for it.
In reality, creating a larger and larger poor class, complete with all the crime and welfare that it invokes, will cripple your nation’s economy. This shift has been happening with the recent policies.
It has?

I think what is impled is the migrant influx forcing wages to lower for many jobs and microeconomies . By this, it can be said that tax evasion/fraud by companies that support and employ these migrant dependent industries have indeed supported the working class shift from Middle Class to Lower class.
I would also like to mention the outsorcing of jobs to other countries (as its world economy, you know) where lower wages are a legal aspect of American business. This also goes with lower standards of living for them, (which sweat shop labor can be used as the gold standard for legal labor) we can compare what (for example) China, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and some extent South America, will settle for when given low wages. Americans competing for such markets will also have to settle for lower wages and all the lower standards of living that comes with it.
As the American economy suffers, so do jobs and all the money that pays them. Competetion for these jobs increases as does the willingness to bend/break laws and standards that are designed to protect the workers safety, interest, and rights. Examples are Companies that squirrel money in offshore bank accounts to avoid taxes they should otherwise pay, or an electrician who demands to be paid in cash for services rendered.
While the OP (not sure what he really means) declares that You (I) are selfish, I wont admit otherwise. Keep in mind however, If you don’t do well, there is no gaurnatee I will either. Likewise, for me the same. We all need to work with and for eachother at some point, so its in eveyones best interest that we all do well, though you are likely to disagree.
