De nada, man! Hope you get to the bottom of it. Sounds like you’re having a bit of a nightmare.
I had to cut these, they are bad news for me.
They’re pretty much the worst thing ever. Really high in fibre, really high in fermentable carbohydrate, really high in allergens…
I was dating this vegan chick and I was round at her place for dinner. Obviously I’m not vegan but you do what you have to in these situations. Anyway, she’d made this bean casserole with like 5 types of beans. The minute I see it I know I’ve got 4 hours to seal the deal before the unpleasantness. So 3 hours later I’m like “well thanks for a lovely evening!” “Oh, are you not staying over?” “No, not tonight, early start tomorrow but I’ll call you, yeah?”
I know from experience that 4 hours practically to the minute I’ll be on that toilet for a solid half hour (and solid is a poor choice of word).
Ha ha, I’ve had a few poorly timed farts in similar situations when I had the gut issues!
I changed a few things all at once so it was a combination of things that made me see massive improvements but can 100% say that beans, sweet potatoes and oats are bad times for me.
My symptoms where exactly as @liftangryordie500 described. Here are a few things I did…
Avoided cold drinks 30 minutes before and after eating.
Stopped eating citrus fruits with meals.
Cut out oats, beans, sweet potatoes.
Oil of oregano cleanse (this was an experiment and not sure it did anything but some people think it helps)
I’m like 95% fixed, have the occasional bad day but I also don’t militantly avoid the foods I listed above so the bad days can be put down to eating them.
Good luck, gut problems are shit.
There’s a Joe Rogan episode with Ben Greenfield on his podcast website that you food intolerant chaps might find interesting, some good stuff in it.
@kd13 thanks for the advice, I’ll try what you’re suggesting. Got some tests done yesterday, I might have a parasite because the gut problem really does go beyond food intolerances…hopefully I can find whatever I have and fix it soon.
@Yogi1 thanks for your concern. If you’re interested, here’s the interview with Barbell Shrugged and my nutritionist…I don’t know if he has merit or not; but apparently he was pretty strong:
Thread worm is so common and can cause stomach problems if the infection is bad. Do you have an itchy bum hole? Sorry that’s a shockingly bad question to ask but it’s a symptom of a thread worm problem!
Honestly though buddy my symptoms were so bad I was certain I had something much more severe going on but it has been solved by eliminating.
No, I don’t have an itchy bum hole, thankfully. Thanks for your take on the matter.
No problem, at least you are getting some tests done that may give you some answers or at the very least rule a few things out, it can be very frustrating when you can’t get to the bottom of an issue. Hope you get it sorted buddy.
Thank you, me too.

As much as I love the shit talk… Still getting swole @Yogi1? Or are you currently cutting… Can’t even remember…
Nice.
Hey man, how’ve you been?
I’m hoping to be able to bulk all through the year and not have to cut at all. I talked a lot of smack about what I wanted to have achieved by the time I was 35 and I’m way behind schedule.
How’s army life treating you?
Absolutely flat out! But loving it.
Ah, lucky it’s about the journey and not the destination than amirite haha
It’s definitely a challenge. Mentally, physically and at times emotionally very draining, but I always have the goal of personal development at the forefront of my thoughts which makes the process a lot easier. If I wasn’t such a stubborn arsehole, I would not be having as much fun as I have been methinks.
Hey @Voxel, thought I’d better reply to here you here rather than cluttering up that other thread.
Things are going good! Body weight is holding steady but body composition is either improving oh my abs are just getting more developed. Haven’t trained my abs for years and now I’m hitting them like 4x a week and they’re looking awesome. Whoever would’ve thought that the key to having good abs would be to train them!
How’s things with you?
What are you doing for abs? I haven’t really trained mine consistently since I was 15 and found out I had to lose fat.
Literally the least fancy abs training imaginable. 3x10 standing cable crunches. No real need to get too crazy with it for now. Tweaked my form on them slightly to the way Thibs recommends and it seems to really hit the spot. I’d always thought of cable crunches as kind of an “upper” abs exercise but seems it was just that my form was wrong.
Very considerate of you (and less so of me almost hijacking that thread).
Did you just kill the old adage that abs are made in the kitchen and not in the gym? Heresy. I was going to ask what you were doing but I see we’ve already gotten to that part.
Have fared worse, have fared better. It’s all just part of the journey.
Like you were trying to give yourself a BJ, yes?
Funny story for how he discovered that method, actually…
