Yogi's Random Training Thoughts

Aye we were sharing a cheesecake a couple of days ago and he told me it…

Na, it’s from an article on here. One of his first, I believe. I’m a big fan of his articles; he’s the only author just now putting out really scientific nutrition stuff which I enjoy.

I was kind of hoping that this would be true.

So seems like the Jade Teta eat more/exercise more thing is actually working a bit. Hopped on the scale today and I’m up a few lbs (which was to be expected due to all the usual mechanisms like glycogen storage, increased food in the gut, etc), but I definitely look leaner. My gross low back blob has shrunk slightly and my midsection is way more vascular. While I’m not entirely sure that increased vascularity automatically means a decrease in body fat, I think it seems like a fairly plausible explanation.

So I do think it has worked (and is still working). Do I think I would have dropped more fat had I done a more “traditional” lowering of the calories and increasing of the cardio? Most definitely. Would I actually look better? Hard to say. When I increased the calories my workout volume went through the roof, with particular attention being paid to upper chest and shoulders, both of which are definitely looking a little poppier (totally a word).

So would 1 or 2 fewer lbs of fat and not as much shoulders/upper chest have looked better than carrying a bit more fat but with the extra size? I guess we’ll never know, although I doubt the difference would have been all that staggering.

I think how I would implement the strategy in future would be during a really long cut. I would do like 8 weeks of low cals and tons of cardio, then up the calories and weight training volume for 4 weeks, then like another 4 weeks of the brutally low cals.

Of course the plan now is to try and more or less maintain this leanness so hopefully I won’t ever be in a position where I’d have to use the above scenario ever again…

Hey Yogi or Bob

Just landed on this post from nov 16 last year  by coincidence.

That’s a nice post.
This is the place where we can talk lifting, without people looking weird.

Happy New Year

Are you and @Serge_A_Storms still cutting, or did I miss an end to this highly anticipated event?

Yogi won.

We exchanged pictures off-line.

It was a very close finish.

In just boxer briefs, it was hard to pick a winner. Then Bob took it to the next level and sent me a bunch of naked pics so I could see how lean his lower back and glute/ham tie-in areas were.

At that point, I folded. I mean, of course I sent him some naked pics in return…just out of common courtesy, but he was definitely leaner than me, so I conceded.

The whole experience did give me some great ideas for how we can make the T-ransformation contest a little more interesting.

I figured someone would request pics eventually.

I’ll leave it to Bob. I look about the same as I have for the past 8 months or so. He got lean enough to get comments about his face, and he was watching veins creep all up his midsection. I’ve just been sitting here with my popcorn waiting for the Yogi show to start.

You want Serge to put it in Bob’s bum? I mean clearly there’s already some sexual tension there but damn

I clicked like - then thought of the implications of “liking” such a statement.

Person A: “Hey man how are you”

Person B: “Well fortunately, I survived the accident”

Person A: “That’s cool.”

Heyyyy guys.

Did I miss anything good on the forum?

I got the comments about the face and the abs veins were cool (didn’t last all that long though!), but I never quite got the lower back to tighten up properly, so no doubt your conditioning absolutely crushes mine. I think I would have needed another 4 weeks of hard dieting before my low back would be doing the xmas tree thing.

Pretty annoyed about it to be honest, so I think I’ll have to take another run at it this year. I was way fatter than I should have been when I started the cut, so if I stay in better shape this year another diet should be easy days
