Yogi's Random Training Thoughts

My mom too. To an extent.

Her version of “weight lifting”, is some decently heavy amount on a leg press, and the rest is cardio.

Nice one, will look into it. Took it before but I’m sure the dose was not even close to that, 15g maybe. Thanks.

my mum will go to her grave having never seen the inside of a gym

yeah, not dosing high enough is a pretty common mistake. The tubs of glutamine pills you get are like half a gram each so it’s no wonder. Buy the biggest bag of the powder you can.

The first glutamine protocol I did was from Precision Nutrition and I seem to remember that had you go as high as 80g/daily at first.

I just mix a couple of scoops into each glass of water I drink at home now. I really like the taste of it so it’s no big deal, and as supps go it’s really cheap

I have found that I can pacify these people by acknowledging that the food they brought in does in fact look good and then also state that I still won’t be eating it. A flat denial to eat it is seen as an insult, as though you’re not eating it because it’s not good. An admission that the food is good seems to ultimately be what they are seeking, irrespective of your personal enjoyment.

My go to line usually boils down to.

“Hey, do you want some cake/cookies/fudge/candy, etc?”

“I do, yeah, but no thank you.” Or “No. Well wait, yeah, I DO want it, but I’ll pass, thank you”

People are sensitive.

Yeah spot on mate

Jeez you take 80G a day of Glutamine? That is bonkers. (to me)

Can you link me that Protocol? I’d love to read up on it more
Thanks

It needs to be as high as that, particularly in the beginning.

Just google precision nutrition gut health protocol

I’m low fat too!

Yeah give it a try man. Should notice a difference pretty quickly, but only if you’ve removed the foods that are fucking you up in the first place.

I have actually heard you say this before and have since adopted this approach. You’re right; it really does work! It’s like you’re acknowledging to the person with the chocolate how much better their life is than yours because they can eat the chocolate and you can’t (at least to them - us meatheads know different) so they leave the conversation smugly satisfied.

Going to have a crack at removing coffee today, here go the headaches. Yogi have you have you tried apple cider vinegar? I pretty much top up my water with it everyday suppose to aid with digestion, fermented cabbage is good on the guts as well, spoonful before each meal.

Heard on a podcast the other day that the health effects of apple cider vinegar are way overblown. I’ve never actually trie it myself so can’t really comment, but it’s not really high up on my list of things to try.

The problem with sauerkraut for me is it just has way too much fibre for me to be able to eat it! I’ve tried adding it in a bunch of times but it makes me worse, not better. I am sold on the fermented foods idea but am at a bit of a loss as to how to make it work. I’ve considered making my own kefir but it seems like kind of a hassle…

Weirdest dieting comment ever from my girlfriend’s flatmate:

“Bob, you have lost all your weight! You are like a spring onion!”

Wait. Wait. Hold up.

Your name is Bob?

Where you hoping for something more mysterious like Alistair or Tobias?

I think Bob suits Yogi. It’s short and to the point
