YAHTZEE!

totally. if i try and remember too many cues while oly lifting i get all confused and can’t even pick up the weight at all lolz. one at a time. or possibly two…

nice. How do you like the kayak rows? I still have not gotten around to trying those. I should too since I am avoiding bent over rows and t-bar rows till the hammie heals.

Hey there Matty, long time no speak! I haven’t been around the boards for a while (since your vaca atually) How was the trip? Hope you had a good time.

Such good discussion and advice.

Yup yup, Im gonna really vid my benching often just for forms sake, as of right now Im not gonna max out, I wanna get the form as good as I can, which will hopefully translate to my goal of 365 in December…[/quote]

Good plan. There are so many cues that’s it’s hard to remember them all.

I like the band idea as well. That’s what I was forgetting to do… Pull the bar apart. Let me know how it goes. Maybe can tie a bunch of rubberbands together or something lololol.

Are you doing lots of light warm up sets like in the video? You’ll smash 365 for sure

MiM - Thanks! The only thing I will be tearing up today however is some greasy food and a couple of bottles of wine, Im classy like that!

Strick - I just started doing them, I really like them King Tate says they will help my bench, so you betta believe they will be a constant in the rotation. The first time I did I was sore as hell, I also like them on a incline. The movement is a little weird to get used too, but once I warm up I will use heavier weight for em in the 5 rep range, those along with the swiss bar CGBP will be staples leading up to the meet.

Alexus - Im not sure about that going over your log your like a scientist the way you critique your lifts! For me I have thick skull little brain disease, plus my dad said he dropped me a few times as a kid.

DJS - I like them alot, even though Im going full foward into the PL foray some BB movements never killed anyone. I do realize that the weight cant be too heavy to feel the muscles your supposed to hit, 50 - 57 on the cable stack seems right.

Late - Hey man, lets keep up with the log this time! the vacay was good, but only a fond distant memory :frowning: looking forward to following your log.

Greg - They also have a sling shot at my buddies gym in Jersey will give it a go with that as well. I was even thinking of leaving the bands on with light weight just for feels. Honestly, I am always on time constraints, there is no way I would be able to do all the warming up King Tate calls for. 365 is the goal, Im pretty excited, and excited for you too!

dday - it sure is broheim

Good stuff, Matty. You are gonna go far. Keep after it.

Nice work in here man

Hey Steely thanks for stopping by, much appreciated!

I hope so Strick!

Today chest super swolez day

INCLINE BENCH - 135/10 185/10 225/10 275/3,3,3 225/10,8
SS
WG CHINS 6X5 - (30)

DB INCLINE BENCH - 100/14 100/12 100/11
SS
DB CS ROW - 100/8,8,8

FLAT BENCH W/MONSTER MINIS - 160/10,10,10

DB ROW 100/15 (GYM CLOSED)

NOTES: So because of working the graveyard shift my sleep schedule has been turned upside down, on my days off (friday, sat) I dont fall asleep until 4, and dont get up until 2 or 3, didnt get to the gym until 5:30. Did most of what I wanted to accomplish except for the DB rows. I have to squat in the morning tomorrow at the Jersey gym (absolutefitnj.com) so I have to get sleep during regular hours.

Debating wether to go to a westside approach or 531 for powerlifting at this point leaning towards 531. Really practiced on form with my bench only did %60 percent of my max for benching, I was speaking to a guy who is a former powerlifter (doing BB now) and stated because of my shoulder width I should take a wider grip on the bench as the ROM would be so much shorter, tried it on my last set and it felt weird but maybe it will benefit.

Nice incline work Matty! Question for you; what is the difference(s) between 5/3/1 and 5/3/1 for powerlifters?

Solid work Matty.

I think you would be served well by either program. I really like Wendler’s approach in keeping it really simple and he’s focused a lot on the raw lifter so it might be a more logical choice.

james

X2 with James. Nothing against WS, it’s a great program but a little more complicated than I like. Haven’t you had success with 5/3/1? I haven’t done 5/3/1 for powerlifting but as I understand it’s now 3/5/1 with a bunch of singles which as the book says is more powerlifting friendly. Keep up the good work.

OG - 531 for PLers raises percentages of your lifts to 90% of your one rep max, and calls for 2 of the 4 week cycle for heavy singles.

Dday and James - Yeah I am leaning towards 531, however my buddy says hes creating a program for me. In all honesty I would like to do the 5/3/1 but we will see.

Today I tweaked my back squatting, didnt warm up enough…

SQUAT - 135/5 185/5 225/3 255/3 290/3 315/1+2
FRONT SQUAT - 135/5 225/3,3
)

SKULL CRUSHERS - 80/10 110/12,12,10
TATE PRESS - 50/10,10 40/15
TRI PULLDOWNS - STACK/15 +25/15,15

DB HAMMERS - 40/15 50/10 60/10,10

Matty! Training looks good, babe!

Also, that jersey gym looks ridic! I dream of the day when I can flip tires and push prowlers and stuff. Maybe I’ll head out to that Colliseum gym in Queens one day…

Anyways, great work as always! Nothing sucks worse than tweaking something mid training - so annoying. Warm up!

Have a good one, buddy.

ps. Joe Gorga is a fucking weirdo!

Looking very solid as usual. Sucks about your back. Is it feeling better today? Its always great when you wake up the next day and your fine. For me if it hurts the next day then its probably going to be annoying for like a week.

What’s up Matty? Dude, I completely forgot you moved your log over here. Thought maybe you’d left then saw you post in Greg’s thread and the light bulb went off. It’s looking more and more like we’re not getting pro ball this year(super sad face). Hope all is well brother.

Strong work Matty. Easiest way to bench big numbers is to gain weight. When I eat like a pig my bench numbers always shoot up quickly. Say good bye to your abs though. Pats are gonna take it all this year. I’m not so sure about the Sox though.

Hey Matty, I’m doing the Edison Meet in December as well. Looking forward to meeting you there!

They better fix there Defensive issues.

Can they get any pressure on the QB?

They play poorly on purpose to keep us interested. A 50-0 game wouldn’t be as exciting.
