People at the gym were as annoying as shit while I always let people work in while I’m doing my pull-ups, if someone is doing them before I get to them I always politely ask “can I work in?” I don’t just slip in, its not a big deal, I think it has more to do with the guy, I think hes an uber douche, always flexing always with a scowl and he wears a Lakers jersey way to small. I dunno maybe I’m the dick. I’m looking forward to not going to the gym tomorrow I needs me a break.

You do upright rows with 175? Like, WTF? And don’t get me started on the incline bench.

Yeah dude, with a wide grip, I know so many people vilify them but I feel if you use a wide grip and dont bring em up to your chin, they are effective. I fucking love em!

I agree with you on this one. Keep the grip wide and they don’t bother my shoulders at all. And they are a solid upper back builder. I’ve been pretty sporadic in using them though.

Come to think of it, I’m adding them in as a regular lift starting now. Thanks!

I have beef with a lot of people at my gym. I look stuck up and I don’t care. Like, there are guys who choose to work out at the bench next to mine (by the DB racks, not benching) when the other 30 benches are vacant. So then I have to pick up my belongings and go to another bench. I don’t care that I offend them either.
Now there’s a stalker guy developing. I really don’t want to have to switch gyms ;(

Matty, if you’re thinking about doing a PL meet but afraid of looking funny, the people here can give tons of advice on every step. They helped me with my first meet, and as a result, there were no surprises. Everything went like clockwork.

Nikki - The price you have to pay for being beautiful. The stalker thing is scary shit, can you get your man to talk some sense into him? Its not cool to have to deal with stuff like that, and I know you could take care of yourself, but watch your back yo. If I was down there, I would stalk him so he would no what it feels like.

And I agree with git on the upright rows…heavy as hell.

I am glad you mentioned the wide grip and not pulling to the chin. I think I will try them again, with that technique. I used to do them all the time, close grip to the chin, and it started to bother me.

Finding a PL comp to join in my area is becoming harder than I thought, The IPF has one very close to me but its in 1/12. Id like to do one sooner, SPF has none in my area, The APA has one on 7/9 but thats the day I am leaving to The Dominican Republic, Ill keep looking…

Things are moving along. I’m just trying to catch up on posts. I haven’t felt much like posting, of late. Time to break out of the funk.

BTW - I appreciate all the posts about everyday life in NY…food, gyms, places. I’ve never been. Closest I ever got was Ballston Spa and Albany area. Fun to read about. Although, I am pretty sure that the sheer size of the place my overwhelm me. Hell, OKC is big to me.
